3 Stars The Tooth? You Can't Handle The Tooth! Review with images 26/07/2011

Advantages Advantages cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap and chea

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor quality

One of the many things I picked up at my local Tesco's (Borehamwood, if anyone cares,) was this twin pack of toothbrushes for the princely sum of ten pence....yes, just ten little pennies for two toothbrushes - new, not second-hand. But were they any good you ask? Almost falling off the edge of your seat in anticipation no doubt. Well, folks let me end the suspense and tell you....... The Reasons For The Purchase. Quite simply, I wanted a cheap set of toothbrushes I could take on a weekends camping vacation and not have to worry about bringing them back. I know it's a sad indictment upon the ... more

Advantages Advantages Exceptionally cheap, better than nothing in a pinch

Disadvantages Disadvantages Wears out quickly, feels flimsy, not very precise, bristles rather soft

It's a bit of a stereotype, especially among Americans, that we Brits don't have fantastic teeth. I have to hold my hands up and say that I don't do a great deal to combat that stereotype, as mine are not great. I don't mean to say that they're blackened and falling out, but they're certainly not the (in my eyes rather unnatural) blinding white of the toothpaste commercials either. I'll be quite honest and say that what mostly keeps me spending a reasonable amount of time on an oral care routine these days is fear of pain, whether from toothache itself or the dental treatment that would follow ... more

Advantages Advantages Worked reasonablly well - Excellent value - Sturdy bristles!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages See review..

I am quite fussy when it comes to buying toothbrushes for myself, and I am often cautious about them causing sensitivity to my already-very-sensitive teeth. For this reason, I was rather dubious about how the Tesco Value Toothbrushes would suit my own dental needs. Priced at only 20p for a pack containing two individual toothbrushes, I wasn’t going to have to pay much to find out, which was a plus point. The packaging for the toothbrushes is basic by anyone’s standards, but this is something I have come to expect with the Tesco Value brand overall. The advantage to the very basic, clear ... more

Advantages Advantages Strong bristles, great price, last for several rigorous cleaning sessions before looking damaged.

Disadvantages Disadvantages 50% price increase this year already.

I have quite a rigorous cleaning regime when it comes to my home but sometimes when illness strikes, which seems to be several times a year for me, I have a period of a few weeks where things slip and it is only the essentials that get done (toilet cleaning, washing and washing up etc). I actually buy these value toothbrushes as part of my selection of products for cleaning my home. Until a few months ago these were just 10p for a packet of 2 but now the price has increased 50% to 20p. Obviously this is still a very low price but is a huge increase for any product and I only still buy these ... more

Advantages Advantages Great for cleaning (anything but teeth) due to harsh bristles, cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bristles too harsh for cleaning teeth, brush handle very thin

I picked a few packs of these up a couple of months ago in Tesco because I can't resist a good bargain. They are priced at just 20 pence for a twin pack (so 10 pence each!) which is two or so pounds less than the higher quality brands and due to this I didn't have high expectations It's always a good idea to have a spare toothbrush handy in my opinion as they have a variety of uses - whether it be as a spare for a guest/partner, or for other uses such as cleaning - toothbrushes are great for cleaning around the base of taps, around the toilet seat and so on but obviously if you do use them for ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages very basic

I decided to pick up a few extra essentials to take with me on holidays last year, I tried to buy everything as cheap as possible and this is when I came across the Tesco Value Toothbrush. These toothbrushes come in a packet of 2 and are very basic, they are white in colour and their bristles are white and plain as well. There is no fancy design or patterns to the handle on this toothbrush, they are just cheap and cheerful. When I cleaned my teeth with this toothbrush, I found that the bristles are quite soft which makes the toothbrush very comfortable to use. There are a good number of ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap and great for cleaning

Disadvantages Disadvantages No good for brushing teeth!

I tend to keep a couple of spare toothbrushes at home for emergencies such as when my step daughter comes to stay and doesn’t bring a toothbrush! As they aren’t ones used on a daily basis I only tend to purchase cheap ones. They didn’t have my usual ones in Tesco’s last time I wanted one so I ended up purchasing a pack of Tesco Value toothbrushes. The main thing that attracted me to these toothbrushes was the price. I didn’t think you could go wrong when paying 30p for a pack of two toothbrushes. Obviously they were going to be pretty basic and nothing special but then provided they cleaned ... more

~ Product ~ ‘Tarred With The Same Brush’ ~ Tesco Value Toothbrush 2 Pack The bright white toothbrushes are almost nine inches in length. With a curved base and one cm width gradually widening up to five and a half inches in length where it curves at an angle to denote the head. The stem is a neat one and a half inches in length and tiny 5mm in width leads up to the brush head. There are eleven raised arrows that guide the user’s thumb. The brush head is just over one and a half inches in length with a cm for the brush width. The bristles are medium to firm to the touch. The toothbrushes come ... more

Advantages Advantages Very affordable, disposable toothbrush?

Disadvantages Disadvantages Lots of corners cut and not a long-term oral care product.

The Tesco Value Toothbrush is probably the product that made my mind up about budget oral healthcare products - it really is better to spend a little more. Value products have their limitations. They have to be manufactured at ridiculously low cost and obviously due to this they will rarely be able to compete with branded products. The Tesco Value Toothbrush is no exception, and priced at 20p for a twin pack you may be forgiven for thinking that they could turn out to be a value buy - what do you have to lose?! The packaging is basic. The mainly plastic packaging with cardboard backing is ... more

---Tesco Value Range--- 'Our Value range offers you our lowest price on the widest range of products, without ever compromising on quality. So you can feed your family within your budget and still trust that they're getting the good food they need.' ---What They Are--- Part of Tesco's Value range - a pair of very basic white toothbrushes. Come in a basic plastic package. These are definitely under the 'cheap and cheerful' category - but there is no harm with that. ---Price-- 30p! Curerently selling in a twin pack for 30p - so only 15p each. These are always in white - but they also do a four ... more
