Advantages Advantages Cheap, wraps foods well

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not suitable for wrapping sharpish things such as drumsticks

I make lots of packed lunches. With four children and a chappie who works fairly long hours I find I get through a lot of cling film and tin foil. If I'm not wrapping sandwiches I'm using it to cover Mark's dinner if he's back late, wrapping fruit for David to munch on later, covering meat during cooking - and the list really is endless. Bacofoil is excellent, but at well over £1 a roll it works out very expensive if you use it as often as I do. Mind you this Tesco Value foil has shot up ridiculously since I started buying it and now costs 80p a roll, whereas it used to be around 38p. That ... more

Advantages Advantages Helps keep food nice and fresh.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

I use quite a lot of foil to cover my food so that it keeps nice and fresh. I buy the branded ones and also this one which is from Tesco’s Value range. I find it is always useful to have foil handy so that it is always there when it is needed because a lot of the time some left over food can be covered and then eaten later in the day or the next day. This foil is very basic looking, it does not come in a fancy box, it is just wrapped in a transparent wrapper. The foil is placed around a cardboard tube of which is not at all flimsy, it is very sturdy to keep the foil in place. The wrapper is ... more

Advantages Advantages functional, works as well as more expensive brands for what I need

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None for me

I am quite funny in that with some items, even household ones, I will just not buy from the value range. However with some items that is pretty much all I will buy as I see no point in paying more and one of those items that I always buy is value wrapping foil. This review is for the Tesco value wrapping foil. The Tesco value branded foil is a very simple looking item to be honest and the packaging used is simply a plastic layer over the top of the tube of the foil. The plastic layer features a red band which is the length of the roll and it tells us that the product is Tesco value wrapping ... more

Advantages Advantages good price, good quality

    Disadvantages Disadvantages -

I have never bothered paying too much for foil and still to the day will not waste money on it as literally all brands to me are the same with things like this and I'll only bin it after use and it seems pointless. This is why Tesco Value's foil is the perfect one for me as it has no fancy packaging which in that sense is good for the environment and also it doe the job like all others and at a fraction of the price. Foil is foil and this is what it is and I was glad to pay under a pound and try it out to see how good it was. APPEARANCE As I said before, this does look very budget as it comes ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap, multipurpose

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Packaging

Like most people, I use tin foil like it is going out of fashion and I was getting pretty sick of paying well over £1 a roll for the stuff. When I stumbled across the Tesco Value stuff at about 50p a roll, I decided to give it a go. I love a bargain and how bad can it be? Well the truth is, not that bad actually. The foil is from the Tesco Value range and it follows the no-frills concept to the letter in that what you see is what you get and nothing else; there is no box and no method of cutting the foil, it is simply a shrink-wrapped roll of foil displaying the Value logo. Irritatingly there ... more

Advantages Advantages Does everything cheap foil does

Disadvantages Disadvantages Theres no serrated cutting edge

I am not particularly brand loyal and am happy to give most value products a try at least once. While shopping in Tesco a few weeks ago I picked up a roll of their foil, Its from their Value range and does look very basic but foil only ends up in the recycle bin so I decided to give the bargain roll a try. Tesco Wrapping Foil, as its called, is sold without the usual box and serrated cutter, it just has a clear cellophane wrapping over it. The wrapper has the value logo on it and informs the customer that it is 290mm x 25m. There are a few warnings on the wrapper such as do not use in the ... more

    Advantages Advantages does its job

Disadvantages Disadvantages a little flimsy, but not too bad

We would use tin foil in our house quite a lot, we use it for cooking, keeping leftover food to use again and when my sister (who is a hairdresser) comes over, we also use quite a bit of it to bleach my hair and do foils. I find that this tin foil is quite durable and good quality, it does not rip too easily and it is good for using to put as a base on the oven tray when I am grilling foods. When I grill bacon I put this on the bottom of the baking try and it holds the fat off the pan really well and is really easily lifted when I am done and ready to wash up. Tesco Value Wrapping Foil is ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap, does the job

    Disadvantages Disadvantages no cutter supplied

We get through quite a bit of foil in our house - whether for wrapping up sandwiches for lunches or for covering up leftover food in the fridge, so I like to make sure that we have a couple of rolls in the house. However, it was proving quite expensive to buy so frequently, with branded rolls costing around £1.50 a time. I decided to give Tesco's value range a go, predominantly due to the cost saving at 45p a roll, but also as I have tried other products from their value range and been pleasantly surprised at the quality. The foil comes wrapped around a cardboard tube and with a cellophane ... more

    4 Stars Foiled again! 25/04/2012
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Cheap and does what I need it to

Disadvantages Disadvantages May be too thin for larger jobs

Cheap foilI don't use huge amounts of foil in the kitchen - I tend to use it for the smaller jobs such as covering food or wrapping up the odd sandwich to take to work. I don't use it for major coking jobs so I really don't want to pay a lot of money for something that isn't a massive essential. So coming in at 90p for a 25metre roll, this basic foil from Tesco seemed like a good deal to me!Does the job!As you may expect, this foil comes in very basic packaging - there is no nice cardboard box with a cutter to help you cut the foil - but then when you pay this little you can't really expect all ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, versatile, doesn't rip or tear during use.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Thin - can take a bit of getting used to. No dispenser / cutter.

Tesco Value Wrapping FoilFoil is something we seem to get through in huge amounts in my household. Because we use so much, I don't like to spend a huge amount of money, so for the past few years I've been buying Tesco Value foil, which, at 90p per roll, is by far the cheapest option in my local supermarket. The Foil ItselfBefore I started buying this foil I used to buy Tesco's own brand version which is quite a bit thicker, so when I first started using this foil I was struck by how thin and flimsy it felt. I was a little concerned that wrapped sandwiches, for example, might not stay wrapped ... more
