Advantages: Cheap, colourful box Disadvantages: Box isn't big enough
...thought that I would put Tesco own brand non-bio washing powder to the test. Being on a strict household budget, I'm always after the best deal that I can find and was pleasantly surprised by this.
Tesco do various other own brand washing powders, such as Bio, Colours and Value, but I have always chosen the non-bio one for as long as I can remember.

...So I bought it. Tesco Summer Fresh two in one washing tablets, 15 washes worth costing a bargainous £1.77, or 18 pence per wash. It comes in a bright yellow (yay!) box, and is also available in packs of 18 tablets for just 9 washes.
So I bought it, and happily discovered that the good people at Tesco even provide you with a net bag (Which they call a "dosing device". Saucy.) which is useful if you're a first time buyer, but at the 50th box, you ... ...via which you can order a totally free "dosing device", isn't it false economy to give a net bag away with every box? But anyway, the tablets are in little plastic packets of two-- the amount they suggest for the average wash-- but that again is bad for the environment. tsk. But the box is very useful, giving full instructions and handy advice, but it doesn't say if it's non biological or biological. Weird-- the side ...

...washing powder, so over to Tesco I went.
Having forgotten my bank card and needing several items, I decided to buy Tesco Value automatic biological washing powder.
Why choose biological ?

Advantages: very reasonably priced Disadvantages: none
...One of my discoveries was Tesco washing powder.
So well priced at £1.79, for your average size box.I thought I would buy one box, as at that price, I could afford to take a chance.
I bought the colour version. It said on the box that it cleans as well as well known brands, but I didn't read too much into that.

The first thing I noticed was this really fresh smell appeared overnight in my cleaning cupboard.
I used the washing powder, easy to open, and found the same smell raising up from my washing powder dispenser.
I wash on the 'H', and thought that I wouldn't get the smell surely from that low a cycle.
I DID! My kitchen smelt of this flowery, sweet, clean smell. A similar smell that colour washing powders all ...

Get home with the 25-30 something bags of groceries and get it all unpacked and in the fridge/freezer and cupboards, I then start on the mountain of washing, this past week me trying to be clever I haven't done any washing, so by Friday night with all uniforms and sheets aswell as towels and various other garments piled into mountains work surface high and a load in the machine waiting to go I thought I've ... ...towels and dishcloths

...ive always come back to tesco colour washing powder. Tablets are good but very expensive and with powder i can vary the dosage depending on how full the machine is, thus saving powder and giving me a few extra loads. The only downside i could find was that, compared to tablets, the box is obviously huge so storage is a bit of an issue if your limited on space. Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Does not remove marks and bleaches coloured clothes
Trying to economise I bought this powder as other powders can be so expensive. The range does not have seperate powder for whites and colours so I used it for both.
I found that it did not remove any ground in dirt like around the shirt cuffs and collars or any marks where food had been dropped, despite following the instructions carefully. After a few washes I noticed my coloured sweatshirts had faded badly.
There was no skin irritation but a ...

Recently I decided to try a new wash powder tablet in my washing macine. I came acrossTesco's own brand colour tablets. They are in a very brightly coloured purple box with a rainbow on the front. There is also a non-bio version that you can buy which is a light blue box.
The cost is approximately £4 for this you get 40 neatly packaged and measured tablets in the wash box.
They are available in 20 & 40 wash packs.

I've been using this washing powder as long as I can remember.
I like to use a fabric conditioner in my wash for that extra freshness so the 2 in 1 powder is brilliant.
The only draw back is that its not so tough on stains. Sometimes you do have to wash it a second time for the stain to go.

At only £3.95 for 3.45kg, which is around 45 washes on average, 'Tesco Colours' is a great value washing powder. It tends to be a case of hit or miss whether your pack contains a measuring cup but it's easy enough to use another container.
