Great music, few adverts

Costly phone charges

As many digital TV subscribers will know, there is a vast array of music channels available, however the new trend is moving towards viewer-controlled music channels, one of the earliest being The Box (channel 449, Sky Digital). These channels simply involve viewers phoning up a specific number...

“Not enough music.”

published 10/08/2001

Good music.

Not enough music.

During this week I have had a few days leave from work and during the day I have often had the television channel The Box on in the background. I have always thought of this as a non-stop music channel, but what I have now realised is just how much of the time there just is no music. Between the...

good music

don't bother to phone one in yourself

This music channel plays music videos 24 hours a day. There are small breaks during the videos, but are mostly music - related anyway. You can find this channel on Sky Digital 449. It is a good channel. All the new videos go here really quickly, and older music gets played as well. Not too old...

The wonders of digital television. Not so long ago, promotional music videos were on the verge of beocming obselete, as the 90s penchant for "live" TV performances squeezed out their opportunities for exposure. The ITV Chart Show, for a whole decade the main source of airtime for the music video...

Expensive to call

The Box was the first interactive jukebox channel aimed at the UK, playing the freshest new music, and some old firm favourits, its the only EMAP channel avaliable on all platforms (Except ITVDigital) Whether you like rap, hip-hop, pop music or even rock you will find it all on this channel. Last...

“Too repetitive”

published 13/04/2001

Plays a lot og good pop music

Very limited play list

The Box can be a great music channel or it can be very ordinary. I think it really depends what is in the charts. As their play list is very limited they are forced to offer the most recent releases with few older records on offer. Indeed the older records are almost exclusive to the current...

My parents decided to get Sky digital and I was pretty glad because I had heard there were many music channels to suit everyone’s taste. I noticed the box, their tagline was ‘music television you control’ and I thought that sounds really good, because you just phone in and vote...

Not for me

Britney is always worth a look

Basically most music they play sucks

Smash Hits you control. Aye right. The Box - what a great concept. You ring up and request a song you want to hear. A fresh and original idea, outstanding concept, lets get dialling. Well no actually it is not fresh or original radio has been doing this for as long as I can remember. The thing is...

Good

Good allround music

Definatly not what is advertised

The box is a one of many Music television channels on SKY Digital television, and you have to say it’s far from the best. I have had experience of ‘The Box’ TV channel since I had SKY 2 years ago; it was the music area of the channels that I first turned to. To tell you the...

They'll occasionally show a Britney Spears video.....

under what can only be assumed as a ton of Vaselin...

Any chance of high quality presentation seems to have gone to pot, when it comes to this poor, greedy channel. It's as though they've stuck a ton of Vaseline over their satellite frequency and just hoped for the best (and it is really does appear as though they've smothered our TV screens with...

Great channel if you like boy bands

It takes forever for your video to be shown

For anybody who isn't aware, The Box is a TV channel available on cable and satellite where viewers get to choose which videos are shown by telephoning a premium rate number and keying in a three digit code for the video of their choice. I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of this channel...

Songs are overplayed and mainly pop.

The Box, music televsion I don't control! If you are a pop fan who likes overplayed songs, then this channel is for you! At times, there is a short period of music that I am interested in (hip-hop ie Eminem, garage, r&b), and I happily watch it. However, most of the time the box is full of...

its the best around

it may not suit somepeoples style of music

The Box is an interactive music channel where you choose the video you want to see by checking the selection number on screen or on teletext then ringing 09001 44 66 00.The only problem is the price of the call which is 60p a minute. The channel consists of the videos plus little shows which are...

does not do what it is meant to do

It sounds too good to be true, a music channel you, yes YOU can control. And quite frankly it is too good to be true! It would be exellent if we could sit infront of the telly and choose whatever music vids we wanted and avoid the other garbage they put on (westlife, eminem, limp bizkit, this...

“What a Waste of TV Space”

Some decent videos

Rip-off prices, Poor Sound and Picture Quality.

I think "The Box" is a terrible channel, and basicly I also think it is a total rip-off. I mean it is terrible the way you get charged 60 pence a minute to watch a Video, that you can see on any of the numerous Music channels, free of charge. And before anyone comes back with the comment that...
