Have you ever been presented with a set of circumstances, which you have dismissed as a coincidence but that left you with a bit of nagging doubt… If you have then you may be interested in “The Celestine Prophecy”, a book which claims to show that what we dismiss as coincidence is actually the very deliberate catalyst of a process ... ...let me elucidate. THE BOOK “The Celestine Prophecy” is essentially a spiritual self-help book, uniquely delivered in the form of a first –person novel. The hero of the novel is unnamed but is clearly meant to be you, the reader. The experiences, revelations, insights and questions of the narrator are actually ours, all of this is designed to engage the participation of you, the reader, to take you from empathy to sympathy. The story ...

Suppose you open a dictionary and hit exactly the right page for the word you are looking for or, perhaps, one morning you are unable to get your normal newspaper but in another one, you bought instead, is the answer to the very question you've been pondering over the last few days. Would these simply be coincidences or is something else guiding you? I ask these questions because your answers will probably ... ...of rubbish. If, on the other hand, you feel that there could well be something more to life and that things like hunches, energy patterns and secret manuscripts of the ancient Mayans sounds pretty interesting, then give this a read - and hold on to your hat for a story full of amazing coincidences.

Advantages: Advice on spiritual awakening Disadvantages: Requires a very open mind
The Celestine Prophecy is a book who's sales seem to come more from personal introductions than from the 'Let's buy it and try it' spiritual crowd. On the good side this means that almost every reader of this book will have picked up someone else's copy first and read a bit or who has been encoraged to read it by word of mouth. On the bad side, despite everything the cover tells you about the contents, some will pick up the book, read the first and ... ...not, is pure adventure.
The book starts with the story-teller, a school teacher, at a loose end. Term time is over and he is looking forward to a break in the wilderness when a long lost friend rings him up out of the blue and tells him she has information that will interest him. At a lunch meeting she tells him of ancient documents of which she has a copy of the first part. The document, discovered in Peru, tells of how mankind will become more ...

Advantages: It seems to help some people - goodness knows how Disadvantages: Its very badly written and slightly deceptive
The Celestine Prophecy may be a best seller and incredibly popular but I really think it is one of the worse books of its kind that I have ever read – and believe me I have read quite a lot. The Celestine Prophecy is fiction – and very poor fiction at that. Had it been written by the hand of a reasonably accomplished writer who had bothered to do the slightest bit of research the book might have been worth reading. Unfortunately, however, ... ...skill at all apart from the ability to fleece the gullible American public.
The Celestine Prophecy is fiction but it is apparently widely treated as non-fiction, this is where it appears in Ciao – rather strangely under lifestyle/health and beauty. If it had been classed as fiction I might have been reluctant to divulge the whole story but, as it is not and the plot is so weak anyway, it will do no harm to do so.
After an almost promising ...

...level of awareness. The Insights were like instructions to become aware of yourself, others around you, and the universe. What powers us, drives us, and why do we do what we do. What is the reason are we all here for? Why do we come in contact with people, who are similar to ourselves? This book wont answer these questions for you... but it will make you think. Advantages: well, this book can change your life... Disadvantages: ...but only if you're ready...
...an idol of mine at the time advocated it, but once I'd read chapter one I was hooked. Not only hooked, but stunned at how the information coming through the story was SO relevant to my life...
Probably of most value to those who have cast a thought or two towards spiritual matters anyway, and are just awakening to their spirituality, this book can be a revelation - IF you're open, IF you're ready, and IF you're willing to suspend disbelief.
I'll ... ...when I did. The Celestine Prophecy is a spiritual adventure story, but rooted in real beliefs held by the New Age community, as I've since found. It's a bit like a parable in that it's fiction, but lots of fact-based theories in the background that it illustrates. It centres around an unnamed character who begins on his journey by discovering that all of human history has been geared towards a spiritual evolution when humanity reaches a 'critical ...

Advantages: Positive message. Disadvantages: Not particularly well-written.
The Celestine Prophecy is the story of an American’s spiritual awakening on a journey across South America in search of the ‘Manuscript’, a lost Mayan text which reveals through ten insights all the secrets both of this life and the next.
Lots of my friends are enthusiastic followers of many so-called ‘New Age’ philosophies and ideas. They variously visit mediums, wear crystals, follow macrobiotic diets, practise reiki and time-line therapy and ... ...They pressured me into reading The Celestine Prophecy insisting, as usual, that it would change my life.
I read it, it didn’t.
I can’t deny that I believe in the truth of the practical philosophy of this book. Practising tolerance, believing the best of people, and projecting a friendly, positive attitude will, by and large, result in a similar feedback from others and thus lead to a happier life. However, I wouldn’t need months in South America ...

The story is about a guy who goes to Peru to help out his friend, who is in trouble. The story evolves around an ancient manuscript that has been found. Advantages: Easy to read, makes you think - enlightening, in a word Disadvantages: Very basic story-telling, historically and culturally inaccurate
In a nutshell, The Celestine Prophecy is really a self help book disguised in a story! It could be described as either fiction OR non-fiction - it has elements of both.
The novel is organised into clearly defined themes, 9 in all, each dealing with a different way to achieve a fulfilling life. These themes are called the "9 insights", and according to the story were part of an ancient Peruvian manuscript, banned by the authorities and so separated ... ...gain information about each of the "9 insights" and is set in South America, primarily Peru.
As the characters come across the "insights" - either by finding the parchments themselves, or by being given information by others - they are clearly explained in the book, one at a time. The "insights" attempt to explain things in life - such things as coincidence, and your feelings towards others - intimating that these have a deeper meaning, and should ...

Advantages: thought provoking Disadvantages: the storyline is weak
...get into this probably isn't the book for you. I found the storyline weakly written, the characters rather flat. But being wiccan and having a belief in omens and coincedences already, i found the underlying message to be quite wonderful. It reinforces the fact that we are not alone and that we have to learn to recognize the signs when they are sent to us. This book doesn't espouse religion but spirituality. Whether you belief in god, the goddess, ... ...to believe in yourself and the messages you recieve through you mind, body and soul. The storyline has this guy searching for the 9 insights.
