Three Funny Fantasies

Advantages: Funny, very original and good value for money
Disadvantages: Difficult to understand if new to discworld

...if you are new to the discworld series, this review may sound a bit strange. Discworld is a fantasy series, but instead of the usual stories in this genre (e.g. barbarian saves tribe of half-naked women from the grips of evil wizard with ancient sword . . . etc), it is funny. Some of the key figures in Pratchett’s mental world include an orang-utan librarian, death (himself, complete with scythe and granddaughter), the hogfather (a fat bearded guy ... Read review

A good bundle
Review of The City Watch Trilogy - Terry Pratchett by yhwman

Advantages: Three good books
Disadvantages: Feet of Clay drags a bit

Unlike The Gods Trilogy, this trilogy has a much more common theme. Namely The City Watch. Guards Guards deals with dragons, and to say more would be giving away far to much plot. Suffice to say it’s a good story, much better than Feet of Clay but not quite as good as Men at Arms. Feet of Clay is about Golems, clay creatures controlled by words in their head. One of them appears to have committed a crime, but the Watch aren’t so sure. Unfortunately ... Read review
