‘You’re all my favourite Diamond girls,’ said Mum. ‘Little sparkling gems the lot of you…’ Dixie Diamond is the youngest of four sisters living with their mum on a rundown council estate. Mum is expecting again and this time she has foreseen in the stars that she is going to give her daughters a little brother. And she’s going to call him Sundance. All four sisters are very different; the eldest Martine at 16 basically takes on the mother role, as she is usually more sensible than her mother, except when it comes to her boyfriend. Next is Jude (14), who is the tomboy of the family, usually ... more

The Diamond Girls - Jacqueline Wilson I bought this book for my niece who came to stay for a weeks holiday and it cost me 99p out of the charity shop but you cvan buy it on Ebay from 99p or on Amazon from £1.25 upwards. It's been years since I bought a book for a young girl as when I was little the books we read were Enid Blyton - famous five and Alice in wonderland type books, adventure and fairytale books and I was a little surprised that this book tackled real life issues like how it is to live on a run down council estate and hanging around with wayward boys, as well as families with ... more

***JACQUELINE WILSON*** Jacqueline Wilson was born in Bath in 1945. Her books are typically realistic about modern British children facing problems in their every-day lives, and one of her most famous books is Tracy Beaker which has been made into a TV series on CBBC. Over 20 million copies of her book have been sold in the UK alone, and personally I think she is one of the best authors for childrens and teenage books. ***THE DIAMOND GIRLS*** What is says on the blurb: "Dixie, Rochelle, Jude and Martine - the Diamond girls! They might sound like a girl band but these sisters' lives are ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good read

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some words hard to understand!

This book is amazing! I loved it when I first read it, now I can't help but read it over and over. I never get bored of it! I have kept my book in mint condition because I think one day it may become quite expensive. Good value and helps young girls to realise the values of having no dad and your mum being two parents in one. Jacquline Wilson is one of my favourite authors, and whenever I go on holiday, i have at least one of her books with me. Hlps readers to understand that there are less fortunate people in our country than we are. Understanblading for age group 10-16. I loved it and i hope ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good storyline

Disadvantages Disadvantages expensive as only available in hardback

INTRO This book is one of many by jacquelyn Wilson. Its only average for her but all her books are very high standard so its hard to follow! As there is 228 pages you may think it takes quite a while to read but after you get into the story its quite compelling and you do want to find out what happens next. ( The print size is quite big also so that also helps) ABOUT THE AUTHER This is written by jacquelyn Wilson. She is a well-known children/teenage writer who has wrote many books such as the girls in series, tracey beaker and The dare game. These are the most famous but she has wrote about ... more

Now, Mum's expecting yet another baby and she's convinced this one's a boy. Time to move to a bigger place, she insists, and the girls scarcely have time to protest before they find themselves ... more
