First glance
The elder scrolls 4 oblivion is indeed a great game to play with wide maps and varying game play. The character is thrown straight in at the deep end with this one landing his/her self straight in prison fighting within the first 3 minutes of the game. This is one of those games when the player gets a real say of what is going on. This is due to the character being allowed to do what they want and go where they like. Some RPG games ... ...Progression through game
As the character becomes better so do the monsters he/she has to take on also become stronger maintaining the games addiction and diversity. Although I have rated this game as a hard one to play it makes it more for the serious gamer, in order to control your character careful training and levelling must be used. The rewards for this process are great in terms of the game the character comes out with a well-rounded character ...

...life to this game. Oblivion, the forth game in the Elder Scrolls series is a 3rd or 1st person (changeable at the touch of a button) role playing game that see's you take forth your user created character on dozens of quests ranging from the likes of hunting bears to closing the gates of Oblivion.
You start of by choosing a race for your character. This can be anything from an Ork to an Elf or simply Human. Advantages: A huge world to explore with millions of combinations of weapons and armour. Disadvantages: Boring and extremely difficult battles and full of glitches.
...I was so disappointed when the fighting began. Fighting with a bow and arrow is passable but you can barely do any damage, and the sword fighting is mundane and as unsatisfying as can be. To be honest, after hours of leveling up so you can go round destroying little imps, you find your self expecting to feel satisfied, and a sense of accomplishment. You just won't find either of those in Oblivion, at least not easily.
This does not mean the game ... ...this game without mentioning the character creation system. It is without a doubt the best system I have ever seen. You could spend the 100+ hours it takes to complete this game just customizing your character. You are given control over almost every aspect imaginable, skin, hair, race etc. You are then given control over the abilities, skill and attributes of your character. This comes into play later on in the game. For example a thief is agile ...

...oblivion on my PC and the amazing graphics was a breakthrough for RPG gamers at the time. Due to the fact my computer does not have the required specs to play oblivion to its full potential, I actually went out and bought oblivion on PS3 again (having played most of the initial story line). Acutally, oblivion was my first PS3 game and the one which makes me to fork out and buy PS3 at its costly price when it was released. Playing oblivion on Ps3 ... ...between characters. Have you seen the lake? It's so REAL! Don't get me wrong, there is still loading time in between scenes but only about 10-25 secs. I remember waiting for 10 minutes just for my PC to load the saved game. Glitches are present but rare. They didn't make much changes to the PS3 version in comparison to the PC version but you get a some new characters and side quests. You get to go on the knight crusader quests which you can get one ...

Advantages: Excellent Graphics, Massive Map, Extensive Gameplay Disadvantages: Some graphical glitches, time consuming.
After reading a three of the reviews on this game, I can definitely echo the sentiments of other gamers in that this game is incrediby huge, allowing you to become fully immersed in the game and create a character so it becomes your own.
You start by creating your character to completely the way that you want and following that, the game is yours to completely take by the hand and create what you want out of it.
I personally believe that to get ... ...goals for the four guilds as well as the main quest, all of which will become available to you as you continue through the game and talk to the characters.
It is incredible to see the graphical enhancement from previous RPGs and shows what the PS3 is and will become capable of, with crisp and realistic surroundings allowing you to become totally immersed in the game and make it more real.
The only graphical glitch I have found so far is when you ...

The attraction to the game is deffinately its length and variety of missions. The main quest is not the longest but there are hundreds of other missions in guilds etc.. aswell as missions that you can stumble accross by accident by talking to people.
The levelled enemies mean that it is never too hard and the ability to finely tune the difficulty is useful. You will never run out of things to do on this game and it is ...

Advantages: Long gameplay time, very good fun toplay, epic area to play in Disadvantages: no online mode, occasional glitches
This must be the best RPG I've played, it has stunning graphics, a great storyline, a variety of weapons and best of all - it’s a massive game!
The main quest takes a long time to complete, and there are plenty of side quests to complete, you can shape your own character to how you want and can learn plenty of skills. The game can take a while to get used to the controls but soon it becomes quite easy so you'll have no problem playing after ... ...mages guild, the fighter’s guild, the thieves’ guild and the dark brotherhood (basically assassins). You can complete tasks for each guild and can rise to the top of each to gain respect and money. There is also the arena, you can fight against other people to progress through the ranks (similar to gladiators) and you can get lots of money through this. You can use the money to buy enchanted items, which make the game easier, and more ...

Already out for both the 360 and the PC, it finaly makes an apperance on Sonys big black monster.
Was it worth the bother? well yes and no.
Oblivion is one of the most impressive games of the last few years, graphicaly its stunning, from the crisp green grass to the massive towns that are busting with life.
Gameplay wise its no slouch either, with 40+ hours to finish the main game and double that for all the side quests its well worth the ... ...time in order to get the most out of it, which is no real problem as with all the side quests and such there is always something to keep you playing for just a little longer.

...I cant put it down. The game is massive and there is nothing you cant do from free roaming to carrying out the quests you can be set by others you meet. Visually the game is amazing and once connected up to surround sound it becomes a very atmospheric experience. The only very small problem I would mention is you need to master the controlls and menus to fully enjoy the game which can take a liitle time, something I am sure all RBG games require. ...
