This is a good basic reference book for the beginner in the use of essential oils and aromatherapy. It is split into 18 sections, which deal with the use of essential oils in all walks of life, and for all ages.
Medicines Out of the Earth
This section introduces the reader to essential oils and their origins and uses. It also gives a guide as to how to best use the book.

...several years ago I searched the bookshops for a book that would give me the information I wanted. I eventually found what I was looking for in The Fragrant Pharmacy by Valerie Ann Worwood. It is basically a complete guide to aromatherapy and essential oils and since its purchase it has become a valuable addition to my library.
It covers everything from skin care to hair care, womens problems, babies and children and home care. The first part of ... ...of subjects, occupational oils for the working environment, assertive oils for sports and work-outs, holiday travel, oils for the more mature, even oils to use on pets and in the garden.
All sections tell you what oils are best to use and what to mix them with and how to apply them, also which oils should not be used under certain circumstances such as pregnancy.
I have found this book invaluable since its purchase and I have learnt a great deal ...

I am now on my 3rd copy of this book which I use regularly for my aromatherapy clients.
This clear well written book is easy to read and use for anyone - not just those qualified in aromatherapy.
It is interesting for the extra uses of essential oils in cooking for example.
The price is reasonable for so much information. ...
