Advantages Advantages excellent read, very gripping.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

This book has to be my favourite book by Richard Laymon so far. It begins with a murder of a husband and the kidnapping of a wife which is very gripping and kept me on the edge of my seat and i was quite shocked when the kidnapper ended up dead as you believe the story is all about him and his evil deeds. The story changes somewhat as the girl who was kidnapped finds herself rescued by a very strange man on an old school bus full of shop dummies. Again the story did not go where i was expecting as he never intends her any harm. The driver takes her to a small roadside town with a population of ... more

Advantages Advantages Another gore feast from Laymon

Pamela has been kidnapped by a psycho who's lusted after since her days of high school. In the desert she manages to injure and escape from Rodney the psycho, but she decides to go back and get the car keys off what she thinks is a dead body... Although Rodney isn't dead he soon will be when the mysterious Sharpe turns up and saves her. Pamela then awakes on a bus where the driver will not speak to her "while the bus is in motion - it's against company policy!" Pamela soon discovers the bus is full of mannequins and she's the only live passenger... I've read a lot of Laymon books and have ... more

Advantages Advantages Another brillian book by this author

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not keen on ending

Richard laymon (the cellar, island and the stake) has done a brilliant job up until the end which i thought was poor. The glory bus was brought out in 2005 and you can get it at most major bookshops for about £6.99. You could probably get in cheaper on the net. The book revolves around two main characters. Theres pamela who has just got married, kidnapped by rodney, a rapist and murderer who has had a crush on her since school. Then there's shy, quiet norman who goes into a garage to pay for his petrol and comes back to find someone sat in his car demanding a ride. The book kicks off with ... more

Advantages Advantages A Fun Laymon Book

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not a Classic Laymon Book

As an avid Laymon fan (I own over 30 of his books) I was a little disappointed with this book. It's certainly not a terrible book and I did still enjoy reading it but I don't think it's a Laymon classic. At times it does feel a little like the story lacks direction, and some random encounters (Didi being an example) which I felt didn't really add to the story. It is still a very fun read, and I won't spoil the story too much at all but it has all the gore that you come to expect from one of Laymon's books, particularly the diners "soylent" menu. As always, the erotic elements are ever present ... more
