...Discworld series, Terry Pratchett being the current king of the comic sci-fi / fantasy novel an honour previously accorded to Douglas Adams. It was this quote along with the news of the death of Douglas Adams that led me to dig out hitchhiker for a re-read.
Being a fan of both authors I thought hold on I remember Hitchhiker: the radio series, the book, the TV series – and all those memories are fond (particularly Sandra Dickinson as Trillian ...

Douglas Adams R.I.P. Review ofThe Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy - Douglas Adamsby
Salgirl
Advantages: Written by the late, great Douglas Adams Disadvantages: There'll be no more of his unique humour
I've just seen the tragic announcement that Douglas Adams has died after a heart attack at the criminally young age of 49. I love the guy's writing and this is a very real loss to the literary world. An extraordinary talent cut brutally short. God bless you, Douglas, you've given me some real laughs, fun and enjoyment with your books. May you rest in peace.

...finished reading this book for the umpteenth time and it's still brilliant. I first came across this story when it was serialized on BBC Television, but it started out as a BBC Radio series. I was so taken with the TV series that I sought it out in the school library back in about 1985. (It was written in 1979). I found the book so absorbing, hilarious and just downright brilliant that I 'forgot' to take it back, and still have that original copy ...

...when I saw it in the paper. They had given him a very small section, one column and about thirty lines. I actually gave a minutes silence almost automatically after seeing the headline.
Douglas Adams was almost a hero for me, as I enjoyed all his books. I would often learn things about the way he felt and thought about things, and it would sometimes scare me. I can say ‘I never really got the hang of Thursdays’ without it being a pure ...

...impoverished Hitchhiker trying to see the marvels of the galaxy for less than thirty Altarian Dollars a day?
For Arthur Dent, a perfectly ordinary Earthman, he is about to find out when his planet (a small blue green world called Earth) is destroyed or rather demolished by a Vogon constructor fleet to make way for a hyperspace bypass. He is also shocked to find that his best friend (the interestingly named "Ford Prefect" turns out to be from a ...

...a 5/5 rating; this by the way is one of them.
You must of heard of the late legendary Douglas Adams, and perhaps you've heard a lot about the HitchHiker series in particular. I don't want to spend long on the plot, because I could go on forever. Basically, Arthur Dent is already having a bad morning as the council plan to demolish his house to make way for a new street bypass. To make matters worse, a superior alien race named the Vogons decide ...

Advantages: Very funny, very surreal, four books in one Disadvantages: A little alternative for everyone's tastes
...none whatsoever, it's definitely all the fault of Waterstones. Now I don't mean to keep blaming other people for my problems, but there are sometimes when blame is inescapable, and this is one of those times! You might rightly wonder what the devil I'm talking about, sometimes I do too! It's about the world of the surreal, the world that I've been drawn into ever since reading The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy. And it wasn't just one book that ...

Not only is his house to be knocked down, but his planet is to be demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass, and again he can’t complain because the plans were on display in the planning ...

...Mac... Hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy is the book which made him famous. Indeed, it's such a well loved story that it's been a radio script, a TV show, and maybe will become a film. The books are the definitive version of the story, coming in a trilogy of 5 books.. hmm.. yep.. that's a triology. The main character is Arthur Dent, an ape descended life form who still thinks digital watches are a pretty neat idea. His best mate, Ford Prefect, is ...

...has to be one fo the funniets books I've ever read. Adams book basically consists of the story of a man from earth who is rescued by an alien when the eatrth is destroyed. The man is called Arthur Dent and the humour of the book comes mainly from his inablity to understand what is going on around him.
The book includes some hilarious scenes and is worth reading merely for the character of Marvin the terminally depressed robot. Since it was written ...

Advantages: Incredible, lateral thinking humour Disadvantages: Possible overkill from being so widely reproduced
...Hitch Hiker. So popular was the original novel that Douglas turned it into a trilogy...& then added another 2 sequels, making it the world's first 5 part trilogy!! On top of that, the first 3 books were serialized on BBC Radio & the first radio series was subsequently transferred to telivision. Rumours abound of a feature film too!!!
The book is about...a book!! In fact the book which the book is about is the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!!! ...

...be many books funnier than the Hitch Hikers guide to the galaxy.
The book is the first part of a trilogy of 4 or is that 5!
It starts out with Arthur Dent who ends up being saved from death by his friend from Betelgeuse(although he did not know his friend was an alien at the time). Arthur survived but the Earth did not because it was demolished to make way for a sort of cosmic bypass.
The story then follows Arthur Dent as he travels the Universe ...

Truly amazing Review ofThe Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy - Douglas Adamsby

Advantages: VERY FUNNY!!! Disadvantages: needs quite a bit of imagination
The "Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy" is the first part of Douglas Adam's trilogy in five parts and I must say it is truly amazing and once you have read it you can understand exactly why this is the book that made him a true famous, legendary and classic author! Douglas Adams has managed to intermingle science-fiction with humour to such an extent that when reading you can't help but laugh out loud quite often (even though you usually get odd looks ...
