...finished reading this book for the umpteenth time and it's still brilliant. I first came across this story when it was serialized on BBC Television, but it started out as a BBC Radio series. I was so taken with the TV series that I sought it out in the school library back in about 1985. (It was written in 1979). ...when I saw it in the paper. They had given him a very small section, one column and about thirty lines. I actually gave a minutes silence almost automatically after seeing the headline. Douglas Adams was almost a hero for me, as I enjoyed all his books. I would often learn things about the way he felt and thought about things, and it would sometimes scare me. ...a 5/5 rating; this by the way is one of them. You must of heard of the late legendary Douglas Adams, and perhaps you've heard a lot about the HitchHiker series in particular. ...Mac... Hitch hiker's guide to the galaxy is the book which made him famous. Indeed, it's such a well loved story that it's been a radio script, a TV show, and maybe will become a film. ...has to be one fo the funniets books I've ever read. Adams book basically consists of the story of a man from earth who is rescued by an alien when the eatrth is destroyed. The man is called Arthur Dent and the humour of the book comes mainly from his inablity to understand what is going on around him.
