Always winter but never Christmas
Review of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis by Kukana

Advantages: Clear style, great plot, delightful characters
Disadvantages: I can read it too quickly!

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is the story of four children who were evacuated from London during the war. They were sent to stay with an old professor out in the country, miles from anywhere. One day, when it was raining outside, they decided to play hide-and-seek; in the process they discovered an old wardrobe in one of the bedrooms. Lucy, the youngest of the children, hid in the wardrobe. To her amazement, she discovered that it led into ... Read review

...was younger I did read the famous Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. My favourite was always the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe which I am sure was many peoples favourite book. I forgot about this book until late last year when the film came onto our screens and I went to see it on the cinema and loved it so much that my Mom gave me the book for Christmas. I have just finished reading it while I was on the train and honestly I forgot what an engaging ... Read review

My wardrobe seems boring now...
Review of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis by Amy69

Advantages: strong desctipitive language, suitable for all, easy to connect with, unique style
Disadvantages: /

When Narnia was released in the cinema last year, I was asked if I wanted to go and see it. And did I accept this invite? No! At that time, all I knew about the film was that it was fantasty-based, and seemed a bit 'kiddish' (though why this was a problem, I have no idea - it doesn't usually stop me!). So I missed my chance to explore the world of myth, and stayed at home instead. Alone. Then last week, I finished the most fantastic book in the ... Read review

Through the magic wardrobe
Review of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis by maz2909

Advantages: More adventures in the mystical world of Narnia
Disadvantages: Too Short!

The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is the second in the recommended reading order of The Chronicles of Narnia, although the first to be written. Having finished the preceeding The Magician's Nephew I eagerly started this book. As I mentioned in the Magician's Nephew Review my family and I were huge fans of the 80s tv series and as a result this was the book I was most looking forward to reading in the series and it didn't disapppoint! The Story ... Read review

Narnia Revisited
Review of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis by CaptainDisaster

Advantages: Great book for kids, nice plot and action sequences
Disadvantages: Prose seemed a little bland to me, less symbolism and meaning than The Magician's Nephew

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe has long been regarded as a classic of children's literature. I was an adult when I read this for the first time so obviously have a slightly different perspective than a child reading it, but I'll do my best to be objective. (Many read it as a child so have a wonderful feeling of nostalgia when reading it as an adult.) The formation of the land of Narnia and the gateways from our world to it was described ... Review of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis by Overlord_2

Advantages: Fantastic book for all ages!
Disadvantages: It's not true! I wanna go there.

The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe is a brilliant creation by author, C.S Lewis, who has written a wide range of children’s books that are just as readable for adults alike. This story is the second book of The Chronicles of Narnia. THE SETTING Narnia is a land created by the great Lion, Aslan. The land has many magical properties and the creation of Narnia can be read about in the first book, The Magicians Nephew. In the first book ... Read review

...a vital story. But for the rest of the population it is just as enchanting. It covers the issues at the heart of human morality in a beautiful and heart-wrenching narrative that is just as relevant now as when it was written. THE AUTHOR Clive Staples Lewis was born in Belfast in 1898, and when he was three he announced to his parents that he wanted to be called Jack, and so he was throughout his life. His mother died in 1908, and he and his ... Read review

Advantages: Great story, Delightful Characters, Clear Story, Great book for kids
Disadvantages: None!!

Name of Book: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, The Chronicles of Narnia, part 2. Name of Author: C.S. Lewis Category: Fantasy Many people hate fantasy stories since they feel that it lacks imagination. They seem to have a weird feeling that a fantasy writer doesn't think about what he's writing - he just begins with a line and lets the story go as it does without any limits in sight. But, in my opinion, it is these fantasy stories which ... Read review

Unforgettable, unmissable, simply amazing
Review of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis by lobourse

Advantages: Great stroy, great characters, uplifting story of the triumph of good over evil
Disadvantages: None

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is the second of the seven books which make up the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, although it was actually the first one written. It is by far the best known of the stories, and even more so following the very successful film dramatisation of 2005. It is the story with the clearest Christian allegory, while at the same time maintaining a great tempo in the story. PLOT SUMMARY It is the second World War, ... Read review

Can't wait to see the film!
Review of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis by matsuge

Advantages: Compelling reading!
Disadvantages: Book is unput-downable (this isn't really a disadvantage).

I loved this and the other Narnia books as a child, my brother and I won a fancy dress contest as Aslan, him, and the White Witch, me. So, what with the movie coming out soon (today, I believe), I thought I'd re-read it as an adult. I picked it up and didn't put it down again until I'd read the whole thing several hours later. I won't retell the story here as it's pretty well known and what with the film coming out, there's plenty of opportunities ... Read review

Disadvantages: Finished it too fast

...since bought all seven of the Narnia books by CS Lewis as well as some of the televised versions that are available. This is actually the second book in the series, but it was the first that Lewis wrote, and is definately my favourite. The first book is called The Magician's Nephew and tells the story of how Narnia was created. The Lion, the Witch and the wardrobe is about four siblings who have to go to stay in the country. Their names are Peter, ... Read review
