    Advantages Advantages 12 in a row - brilliant!

    I always used to listen to Atlantic 252, but I stopped listening a few years back, because I thought it had turned crap. Recently, I decided to tune in again to see if anything had changed, it had - "The New Atlantic 252". They now claim to play "Non-stop Rythm and dance", and play 12 tunes, in a row,all the time apart from breakfast. This is brilliant!! A few years back, 12 in a row only happened about once a day. People don't seem to realise how good 12 in a row is. We are talking 12 songs, back to back, chat free and commercial free. They play a lot more dance music than they used to, which ... more

    This used to be my favourite radio station just a year or two ago. If I wanted to listen to the newest hits, then I could just tune in and chill out. These days their playlist seems to contain only four singles, of which they play three or four times an hour. They rarely play the songs that appeal to me, which indicates that either my tastes have changed or the station is out of touch. The only way they can recover from the position they are in would be to hire younger researchers as they are the people who know what the audience wants.     Atlantic 252 is supposed to be non-stop rhythm and dance music. Then how come they are playing Robbie Williams Angels!!? and lots of other rocky/slow tunes. Things like Robbie Williams are great tracks but do not fit into the format. If I wanted to hear that I would tune to my local GWR better music mix crap station or Radio 1. If something is branded they should stick to it. The whole point is that its supposed to be a DANCE station. It makes me laugh when they go on about the dance tunes and then they play Britney Spears. Atlantic should make its mind up about what type of listener it is ... more

    Over the last month or so, Atlantic seems to have responded to critics and got rid of all the 'non-dance' tunes and widened the playlist so it is less repeative. Its excellent. They play more dance music than the Galaxy stations do! I do wonder if any of the other so called reviews which are negative about the station are from people who have genuinely listened to Atlantic, as they seem sparse on the facts about the stations true output. I wonder if they are just writing any old 'slagging off' rubbish just to obtain a payment. They fail to mention the dance format and the 12 in a row feature ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages no more westlife and other manufactured bands well very little of them

    They have changed Atlantic 252, from pop to Rnb and just all music. Which is good it will attract more listeners. But, the whole radio show seems to be based on 12 ‘great songs in a row’ I have heard that so many times you get sick of it after while. And when I changed over to Virgin they were doing the same. So, it’s hardly New or original. Well, anyway they play some good music and I have it tuned on my car radio, the station don’t really need any presenters because they don’t chat that much, which is good I suppose.     I have been listening to the New Atlantic 252 LW for a Number of months now, and I am very impressed with the new music format. Althought they claim to be non-stop rhythm and dnace, they are basically feel good chart and pop station, still playing artists such as Ronan Keating and Robbie Williams. The Style and presentation of the Station is slick and professional, with the DJ,s trying to keep the listeners well entertained, and the chat to a minimum.     Atlantic 252 is a dreadful radio station, every time I happen to come across it I find it difficult to believe that anyone can actually be tuning in! The Music isn't very good for a start, they seem to roll out the same rubbish every day and the Djs are excruciatingly bad. That is a minor problem compared to the station's reception. In a modern era of crisp CD sound Long wave music radio doesn't cut the grade. I can't imagine an old vinyl record on a dodgy grammaphone sounding much worse! If you want to hear music on the radio stick to FM mode, but for your ears sake don't hit the LW button! ... more

    5 years ago, I used to listen to this radio station non-stop as it played the highest quality music all day long. However now my opinion has changed. This station no longer plays the high quality it used too and with poor reception, the sound quality is pretty poor too. The music that is played is often outdated and basically rubbish which is not helped by the poor signal long-wave radio transmits. These days I do not listen to long-wave radio anymore.     Music radio stations should play music. The New Atlantic 252 does just that. And it does it well. I remember 252 from its early days. They used to play about five records in sequence all day, and every three weeks the records would change. It was great if you liked the songs, but when the charts were crap so was the staion. Things have improved. 252 still play chart music, but they do now lean towards the remixes (the Don't Stop Moving remix by S Club 7 is excellent) and alterative versions which freshens up the station completely.     During my teenage years I listened to no other radio station apart from Altantic 252 - yes it was good when it was first introduced to our ears but then something went really wrong. All of a sudden it started playing really hardcore music all the time twenty four hours a day ( stuff you couldn't singing along to while you worked ) Not what you really what to listen to first thing in the morning.
