Advantages: Captivating read Disadvantages: Its not a film
...reading a good book in the summer. I have a few favourite authors whose books I know will turn out well and prefer reading. Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park, E.R, Prey) & John Grisham (Runaway Jury, A Time to Kill, The Firm) are two of the best authors around at the moment. And I would recommend their books to anyone. Today I am focusing on John Grisham’s – “The Partner”. One thing John & Michael have in common is the fact that a lot of their books ... ...“Runaway Jury” hit the big screen. I went to watch this film and it reminded me of how great Grisham’s books are, and how intriguing they become. So as soon as I went home (or a few months later) I decided to pick up a good Grisham book and my sister recommended “The Partner” to me.

Advantages: Another easy flowing Grisham book Disadvantages: A few slight Plot Holes
Well the next Grisham book I come to is The Partner and despite what some people seem to think no he’s not paying me (although any cash would be much appreciated). He seems to be an author who sticks to a set and regiment style but he makes this style work well. Although the subject matter probably doesn’t appeal to everyone, Grisham has a way of drawing you into the book.
He started his professional career as a lawyer but back in the early 90’s ... ...get drawn
This time the story focuses on Patrick Lanigan a promising young partner within a high profile law firm. He has it all a lovely wife, a new born child and a long career ahead of him but when he is killed in a car crash all this has gone. Weeks later after his funeral almost 90 million dollars is stolen from his old companies offshore bank account and this is when they realise that Patrick isn’t actually dead.

Story
The general storyline is about a partner of a corrupt firm who runs away after faking his own death. He takes $90 million with him and moves around and finally settles in Brazil. He is going by the name of Danilo (or Danny Boy) at he start but is really Patrick Lanigan. A consortium of businessmen, who have employed an investigation group to get him and the money, catches him. The group consists of Benny Aricia, and other ... ...(or Leah) who acts as the person who wires the money around the world. He is captured and tortured by the consortium before the FBI saves and arrests him. He is then faced with murder, for killing a person to put in his car-wreck, in which he faked his own death. He is also being sued for $90 million, the money he stole and is being divorced by his wife. Overall the story may seem complicated and is, however it can be better understood when you actually ...

The Story ************** Patrick lanigan has died in a car crash. Before that he was living the American dream, nice big house, attractive wife and the trappings of successful business. The only problem is that at the time of his death $90 million went missing from the company he worked for. Lanigan is really alive but he is soon tracked down and brought back to face justice. Thats where Lanigan uses his cunning to hire a lawyer to help get him off ... ...working as page by page the story builds into an unbelievable climax. This is not a book you can just switch off and read, and some people may find it heavy going. My advice is to stick with it, as the ending is worth it. There is a lot of pages used to go in to the details of American law but they are worth wading through. The scary thing is, that what happens to Lanigan, and what he does could be possible. With each charge against him falling away ...

...Stephen King/ Richard Bachman and the german author Wolfgang Hohlbein one of my favorite authors. I like his books about szenes from the live of lawyer.
In "The Partner" Grisham descibes the story off a lawyer who had fooled his partners for a very huge amount of money. He vanished with $90.000.000 - ninety million dollars. He simulated his own dead in an accident and then robbed the money. After a long hide and seek he settled down in a small Brazilian ... ...life!
But then it occurs. The men his formerly partners hired find him. They catch him and bring him to a small shack in the jungle. Then they started to torture him to get the hidingplace of the money. Foremost the FBI who get a tip "rescue" him to blame him at an US court. Grisham describes how this lawyer, Patrik Lanigan tries to get out of his situation, usig his money.
It's my favorite book of John Grisham. He tells the stroy of Patrik Lanigan ...

The Partner by John Grisham is another in a long line of novels the flow effortlessly through a tale of legal wrangling. Grisham was getting a reputation of writing novels the featured a young successful law student taking on corporate America and winning handsomely. Later books have shied away from this formula. The Partner features a forty something partner in a successful law firm who embezzles millions in legal fees and then disappears to Brazil. ...

The partner is one of John Grishams best work to date. First lets look at the plot, there is a law firm with a set of partners but one of them is treated as an outsider and the other partners want him out because they have a plan. They were commiting fraud by suing the US government. Anyway they were set to get a lot of money from this but what they didn't know was that the outcast lawyer caught on to the plan and what he did was to stole all the ... ...in but also gave all the money. She then set about moving the money all over the world and placing it ion different accounts.
Before he disappeared to rio he faked his own death but after burying him they soon realised that he was infact the one who took the money. His wife still got the life insurance and set about spending it with her boyfriend.

Advantages: I couldn't put it down (or is that a disadvantage?!) Disadvantages: None! Well, a personal disadvantage is that i'd have liked to be more intune with the whole lawyer business, but that didn't really affect the read!
...daughter (myself) are all reading the same novel on holiday! I am relatively new to Grisham but i seem to have found my perfect author. The people i know who have read and enjoyed The Partner couldn't have been more different, indicating that this book is for anyone. I understood it, although i should imagine it is a book for 16+years to whenever.
It is a book which gets you involved so much in the plot, and a plot is exactly what the book is about. ... ...describes things so perfectly makes it seem so real. No street name is suspicious, there are answers to everything in this detailed beauty. You have to read it, trust me, you will like it. I am going to read other books by Grisham, all of which i have heard are as good as, or even better than this one! ...

...He was assumed dead but the disappearance of $90 million makes everyone think otherwise, can he really get away with this?
Despite many efforts no-one has been able to find the money or the man responsible, but no-one can disappear forever can they? A clever plot unfolds as an anonamous person is tipping off the people on his trail, they are getting closer to him and they know it, but every avenue dead ends. Until now...finally they have found him, ... ...retrieve the money - easier said than done.
Patrick is much clever than he looks, he seems to be able to turn every bad situation to his advantage - or did he force their hand? Grisham has created a truly addictive story, once you delve into this plot you'll want to know whats going on behind the scenes - what aren't you being told. Only at the end will you discover the truth behind the tale.

...He decides to disappear off the face of the earth but as he does he finds the law firm that he is a partner to, is about to receive $90 million of which the firm will get $30 and he is to be fired. He disappears by faking his death but then the money also disappears. Advantages: Great Storyline, eccellently thought through Disadvantages: Might be a touch slow for some peoples tastes
...how I would sum up The Partner. The story involves a Partner of a firm realising he is on his way outwhether he likes it or not. Before he gets the push he fakes his own death and steals a huge sum from the Partnership account.
The book opens in Brazil when the main charcter's (Patrick) past is about to catch up with him. He is caputred and tortured by people working on behalf of the Partnership who are trying to recover the money. Patrick has a ... ...keep the money away from the authorities should he get caught. The story involves Patrick, Eva, the authorities and the Partnership's heavies trying to act within the law to see their own preferred outcome. The story is released a little at a time and allows you to form your own opinions well in advance of finding out the facts, however there are so many twists that it is very difficult to see the ending.

John Grisham likes to pit the little guy against the system, and the mega-selling American author does it again in his satisfying new novel. ...despise, I was struck by the difference of this book in relation to his previous novels. For a start, he seems to struggle with the idea that for a change his main character is not an inherently good young rookie lawyer trying to save the world. He focuses on Patrick Lanigan who has stolen from an (albeit dodgy) law firm in Alabama and run to South America. Without giving the story away completely, the story has a rather lame and, I felt predictable ...
