Advantages: Short, easy to read. Disadvantages: Wilde's only published novel.
The plot is fairly easy to follow. A painter, Basil Hallward, paints a portrait of young, handsome man, Dorian Grey. He then introduces Dorian to a nobleman, Lord Henry Wotton. Dorian and Henry Wotton become friends and Dorian wishes that the painting of himself would grow old instead of himself. After leading years of boyish sin, Dorian Grey realizes that his wish has in fact come true. The painting begins to turn horrible and age. Dorian Grey realizes ... ...I would recommend it for everyone, as it is not too difficult to read or very long. It gives the reader a perfect representation of 19th Century England, letting the reader's imagination run wild in places ranging from the elegant English countryside to the dark opium dens of East London. ...
