Advantages: funny story, very well written Disadvantages: no disadvantages
...because I feel they are the chief books of Trampers to the galaxy. The CBOTTG are books that when the words are read the writing marks you in a thrilling and funny way. I never cause an almost terrible thing to happen like the reading of the Hitchhiker books to pass from my life. That is a most unverifiable thing I would be doing. Although the writer of this book was reputed to be a crotchety writer, I found his ideas were very substantial. His books ... ...With the five novels, belonging to the Hitchhikers guide trilogy, Douglas Adam gave his life to writing them in a very different way to other books which was to first begin in 1979 and to finish in 1992. The books have been read by millions of readers and they have been a very pleasant read, so I hope they will be read for hundreds of years. I am not sure, if future novels will ever be written like this but I had never once actually seen something ...

Advantages: Hysterical in places and finding out the question to the ultimate answer... Disadvantages: A tendency to wander off the plot(s) at times.
...If you haven't read the Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, the short main character list below will be very useful for understanding the following review;
Arthur Dent - Last male Human Being and hero of the Hitch-Hiker books.
Tricia McMillan - Last female Human Being and only rational, intelligent person on the Heart of Gold. Nicknamed Trillian.
Ford Prefect - Arthur's best friend (who turns out to be an alien very early on in the first book) and ... ...the Galaxy with massive ego. And two heads and three arms.
Vogons - Gray/yellow aliens always in a bad mood, sent to destroy the Earth to make way for an inter-stellar bypass. Not satisfied until all the Humans are gone.
The Heart of Gold - Space ship that Zaphod steals; has the only infinite improbability drive ever created. Literally can do anything, no matter how improbable.
As the second book in the Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, ...

What to do after producing the cult book of the decade? An interesting dilemma faced by the late great Douglas Adams after writing The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and the only solution is to follow it up with more of the same.
1st impressions aren’t as startling as HGttG as the cover of my well thumbed 1st edition paperback is based on the TV series in that it looks like a starfish made of cheap fluorescent lighting on a black background. ... ...as the wordy bit is far more interesting.

Advantages: Extremly funny Disadvantages: Too Short
This is the second book in the Hitch-Hikers guide to the Galaxy series. It continues directly on from the first book with them planning a trip to the restaurant at the end of the universe. They do get there eventually but not until a bizarre series of adventures which includes dead relatives, flying office buildings and sentient elevators. Adams is always incredibly witty, humourous and a constant source of new and bizzare ideas. It works because ...

Advantages: Loses a rainy day Disadvantages: If read at bedtime be prepared to have to finish it.
After reading the first book in the series I had to continue. Not only did this book equal, but in my view surpassed, Hitchhikers Guide. With Adams usual descriptive writing I found myself engrossed from cover to cover (and a few mornings I think the propped open eyes may have been visible). A must read for all Adams fans - do it right now!!!
I myself will be rushing out to buy the next one in the series to see if it gets even better, although I ...
