...to play!~~~~
I received the Sims 2 as a Christmas present last year, I had been looking forward to checking out the sequel after previously playing the Sims 1 pc version. I was going to have the new Sims 2 on pc, but found out that my computer was not to date and would not be able to play the game. So I decided to have the play station 2 version in the hope that it would be just as fun as i had heard the pc version was. And this is what I found ... ...I suppose when you play, the objective is to try and be a successful sim!
Firstly you select to either play in the story mode or free play. Then you need to choose where you would like to live! You can either evict a family from a previous house or build a house of your custom later on. ~~~~Making a sim~~~~
So now you have a house, you now need a sim! In free play you can make a whole family, but in story mode, just the one sim is needed. Firstly ...

...read my previous review on The Sims you will see that the way I play the game hasn't really changed much.
I still base my Sims on myself & my partner, it took me some time to get the features right so we look quite alike. The graphics are much improved so they look more realistic. Some of the people I've spoken to about The Sims (2) have asked "What's the point?" Compared to other games, the "point" isn't as clearly defined. You're not in a race ... ...solving a mystery. The aim of the game is to control your Sim character through their life; buy & furnish a house, get a job, fall in love, have a family etc. Playing the game.

...ago, and I was hooked the minute I picked up the controller. In my opinion it is definitely one of the greatest Sim games (Sims 2 PC has to be the best, but PS2 is a close second), and maybe one of my favourite games ever. I found controlling the sims movements rather than just clicking somewhere and them moving a great improvement, it provides the player with alot more freedom and interaction. In story mode, the game is very long and challenging, ... ...The more tasks you complete, the more you get rewarded. .Building your Sim. When I created my first sim, I was quite overwhelmed by the variety of different things to choose from. I ended up looking through the different clothes for at least half an hour, trying to decide what suited my sim best. There are so many vests, t-shirts, jumpers, jackets, shorts, jeans and trousers to choose from. You can also decide how you want your sim to wear the clothing ...

Advantages: Much more customisation of your character and your world Disadvantages: Single floor houses, no children
Welcome back to the world of the Sims!
For those who aren't addicts like me, a quick intro...
The Sims is a God game where you create your playing character(s) from hair colour down to trainer colour, then insert them into a neighbourhood where you are set free to do whatever your heart desires. You may wish to be a social butterfly, you may wish to be a "slacker", you may wish to have a massive brood of children.
You build your home (or move ... ...etc) you will be promoted.
The console versions does differ from the PC version, but this can be a good thing, I own every Sim game, PC and PS2, and although that sounds bad, it's not, the games aren't identical, each version has it's own identity.
At face value, the game can let you down a little. You expect the gene splice that the PC version offers, but it doesn't give you that option. Stairs/multiple floor levels are also not available.
BUT ...

...always been a fan of the sims since it was released on PC, however I don't think any other console lives up the computer version.
This sims two on computer has the ability to have kids and watch them grow up, which is one of the main features, however I was disappointed to find that the Playstation version was the same as the original sims but in 3D.
The game takes ages to load especially when trying to customize your characters. However on the ... ...meet goals to move onto the next stage. Eventually you progress into a successful business person.
The graphics are very good (which explains the long loading times). The sound is also good but the songs that are played on the CD player (which you can purchase on the game) are very repetitive.
Overall it is a good game but if you have the choice go with the PC version. ...

MY THOUGHTS ON THE GAME
Do you like strategy games? Do you like the sims? This game is for you. I bought this game last year 2008 from ebay and the minute the game came through the door i put the disc into the player and got going on it. I was then hooked. I did find this game hard to get used to all the different functions but now its so easy to play and do. You can set up to 6 different characters where you can choose whether or not they are male ... ...sim happy and amuzed all the time. But great fun. The hardest is trying to get them ready for work. If they are not happy they dont go to work. This is game is so addictive i sit and play this game for hours on end and the whole weekend some times. Its a good job you can save the game from where you last left off. The sounds are really good with the game but better when you buy a radio from the catalogue menu and purchuce one for the house turn it ...

Advantages: Amazing extras - far improved on the original game Disadvantages: Too much info on the disc, stopping it from running effectively
I traded in the original Sims game for this, thinking it would be far better and have better gameplay and longevity than the first. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. All of the added features and options are amazing, I will admit that. But the problem is that too much has been crammed into it, meaning not only do you not have enough time in each day to send your Sim to work/have them feed & bathe themselves/build up their attributes/achieve ... ...ran incredibly slowly on the PS2 - making it extremely irritating to play when the disc would be jumping and jittering about in the console trying to find the information to carry out what you\'d requested your Sim to do. I thought maybe I just had a dodgy disc, but after asking other friends about their experiences with it, they too had had the same trouble with getting the game to run at a reasonable pace.
It\'s a real shame as all the extras ...

Advantages: Fun to play, Controls are easy to get to grips with Disadvantages: Terribly addictive and at times can be a little slow
The Sims is a "Design your own world" game. If you like to be in control of absolutley love this game, if you just like making pixel people do funny stuff, then you'll love it to!! Its a game for pretty much anyone and you can design your person (or people) to look like whatever you want. There are 2 modes, Story mode, where you complete goals in an attempt to unlock new locations so you can move around, meet new people and move up in the career ... ...save your game that is. The graphics on this game are outstanding and, even though it can be a little slow at times, its well worth the money. A great gift for anyone aged 8-80!!
The controls on this game are easy to get to grips with, and, once you get the hang of them, you won't even have to look at the control to know what you are doing. My favourite feature on this game is that you can create your own meals!! If you go to the fridge and click ...

Advantages: Open-Ended gameplay, wide variety of items to unlock Disadvantages: Boring, not too engaging, Big Brother the game?
The Sims 2 is another release from the Sims franchise, and though I hate to be cynical, it's presence is diluted somewhat by an over-long stay in the market and a plethora of spin-offs addons and the like, so I was a little dubious about the game. The game is neither good or bad, just as it can never be completed per se, there is no real underlying plot save that you take control of your sim and their housemates and simply satisfy their desires and ... ...It is almost ironic that the game prides itself on attention to detail that borderlines anal, and yet fails to have any real depth or any real engaging qualities. With the whole juggling the various needs of your sims just as with the rest of the game can be viewed in two different camps, 1) That the game is so engaging because it gives the player so much control, on the other hand, 2) The game is nothing more than a glorified Tamagotchi or indeed ...

Advantages: creation of sims is fun and you actually control what the sim does Disadvantages: still only able to build a single ground floor houses
The sims 2 the newest sims to the playstation 2. It is amazing, truely fantastic and absolutely addictive.
In this latest version of the sims you get to control your sim. You actually get to be the sim and move the sim around which creates the effect you really being there in the room. The only disappointing thing about this is that you can only do one thing at once unlike the other sims games where you can make a list and your sim automatically ... ...The most annoying thing i found about this game though is the availability of clothes, you get a very poor choice of them and with such terrible clothes means you have to spend more time chosing what your sim should wear. But some of the hair styles are truly amazing and i really liked them and the facial hair for men was also very cool and some unusual.

Advantages: Good new features and items Disadvantages: Insanely slow
After buying the original Sims three times, and the disc slowly deteriorating, before finally ceasing to work three times, I saved up my pocket money and searched every shop for the Sims 2. I think it's fair to say, it was fairly disappointing.
Playability & Enjoyment - I actually really enjoyed the game, there are lots more new features to make the the game more fun and more challenging.
Addictiveness - It was far from an addictive game, because ... ...Sound - I've always hated the Sims music ;P
Difficulty - Not Very
Value For Money - I would say overall, I was disappointed with the game considering what I paid for it. You have to spend half an hour creating one character because of the waiting times. All of the new features are great, but this really lets it down.

If you already own The Sims 1/2 on your PC then you will be delighted to know that The Sims for PS2 has a whole load of brand new, different customisation tools and objects as well as being a 2 player! However, I don't think Sims fans will be disappointed with it's variety of things to do you never get bored of playing and it's great ...
