The Sims 1.5?

Advantages: Multiple personality traits, improved object graphics, multiple savegames
Disadvantages: Ugly Sims, 'rabbit hole' community lots, slow AI, poor pathing, feels unfinished, buggy

...to read my updates at the end of this review, which now address many of the problems I found with my review of this game in its original 'straight out of the box' form. Year of release: 2009 Publisher: EA Games The Sims 3 is the latest in the ‘Sims’ life simulator series that began in 2000 with The Sims, in which you create lifelike characters and watch them live out their lives and interact with each other in many and varied, and often hilariously ...
...had become accustomed to playing The Sims 2 with its eight expansion packs plus several thousand custom content files, will be pleasantly surprised at the quick loading times. (However, if you cast your mind back to the Sims 2 base game, it loaded in a flash – it’s the addition of expansion packs and custom content that result in ever-increasing load times. My Sims 2 game now takes ten minutes to boot up!) So, having installed it, off I went to the ...

The Sims 3 - The Best One Yet?

Advantages: New careers; personality traits; Great graphics and speed on my laptop
Disadvantages: Lack of choices within Create-A-Sim; Could be slow on some users PC's/laptop's

So, The Sims 3. If you're here, you've probably played The Sims before, and are thinking about buying the latest game. Or maybe you're someone who has never played any of The Sims games before and are interested about it. I hope to give you a detailed review weighing up both advantages and disadvantages of the product, which will hopefully guide you into making a decision on whether to purchase it for yourself or not. == A LITTLE BACKGROUND INFO ...
...The Sims (which I will abbreviate to "TS"), was released in 2002. It was fairly simple compared to what we have now in 2009, but nevertheless, still an amazing game even by today's standards! There have been three "base" games - The Sims 1 (TS1), The Sims 2 (TS2) and now The Sims 3 (TS3). You could get various "expansion packs" for both TS1 and TS2, including Hot Date, Superstar, University, Pets. Right now, there are no expansion packs available ...

The Sims 3 Review (Great Game)

Advantages: Never gets boring
Disadvantages: cannot turn into werewolf like in sims2

...am very experienced with all the Sims games from the original 'Sims' and it's 'making magic' etc to the new addition of the Sims 3. First Appearance: On advertisements it is VERY appealing, showing us the new and improved version the Sims3 has a complete new feel to it. With more human-like characters and a more varied and random behaviour traits. The sims3 has been packed with many different aspects to make the game last forever and ever without ...
...Mode. The first thing i noticed about the town was that you cannot move your lots into a complete random space. This is a big disadvantage for me as i like to re-arrange alot. Yet there is an alternate asset which is more satisfying; For example: there are many special places in the town, such as mines and almost 'crater like' lots which are unusual places to live or build on, yet people like me would love to be unusual, and place a house there!. ...

The Sims just got bigger and even better!

Advantages: Still very addicting, and a great seamless neighbourhood. Goodbye loading screens!
Disadvantages: Still quite 'basic' whilst we wait for all those inevitable expansion packs.

...you haven't even heard of The Sims before then, well, where have you been?! The Sims took off years ago and is now a huge, best selling popular PC game, along with its never ending expansion packs. First there was The Sims, then came along The Sims 2 and now this year has come The Sims 3, bigger and better than ever before. The Sims is anything you want it to be. You can create a Sim that resembles you, someone famous or just a completely made up ...
...== What's New in The Sims 3? == The main difference between The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 is here is now a seamless neighbourhood. The problem with The Sims 2 was if you wanted to take your Sim say, grocery shopping downtown, you would sit staring at a loading screen with a picture of a taxi on it for a good 5 minutes! By the time you waited for this to load, take your Sim shopping, then get them back home again you began to wonder if it's worth it having ...

Loving it so far, but wait for the expansions

Advantages: Addictive, fun and still very familiar
Disadvantages: Too addictive sometimes, and a little empty without the expansion packs

I absolutely love the Sims games. Have had every game, every expansion and spent hours downloading additional content to the point that my computer has slowed to a crawl! So, obviously, I was quite excited by the release of the Sims 3. First of all, game requirements. This looked a little scary for me because I recently traded my desktop for a laptop, and worried that it wouldn't be able to cope. I met the minimum requirements, but there wasn't ...
...have to turn off the shadows, and reduce the detail/texture to improve performance on slower machines, and I expected this game to be a total drain on resources. However, I was pleasantly surprised, and even with Vista as my OS, the game runs smoothly and without jumps or pauses in the action. So, don't be too afraid of this game as far as the requirements go... be afraid when the expansion packs come out! lol After the nice intro scene, you get ...

Unleashing my creativity

Advantages: Addictive, fun and easy to play
Disadvantages: Addictive and slightly costly

...After an altercation with the HMV security guard, I purchased the recommended item for a rather costly £34.99, although I had seen it priced up to £40 in some outlets (Zavvi - no wonder they're in administration). Is £34.99 too much to pay for a computer game? Its certainly a high price, despite the games newness, and would require a great deal of justification. I will move onto this later. Incidentally, I also purchased some home-made garlic French ...

We are talking about a woman who still believes my local baker is named Victoria Sponge, and the lady who runs the sweet shop is called Annie Seed. Also, my doctor is rude and antipathetic - I once told him I'd get more sympathy going to a doctor with a bone through his nose than one the NHS churned out. But the real reason, I'm not going to the ...

A Let Down? Maybe?

Advantages: Graphics, Features
Disadvantages: Missing features from Sims 2

...simulate life which therefore explains the name Sim which is short for simulation. This game has been released by Electronic Arts (EA). Sims 3 is obviously the sequel in the series of the Sims range of games thus the number 3. Since the first Sims that was released in 2000 there have been many successful expansion packs and Sims 2 and now Sims 3. With each new Sims release like Sims 2 the designers have always offered something new or fantastic to ...
...the previous one before it. The expansion packs have been used for the user to have extra features such as furniture, toys and gadgets. So I rushed out a shop to buy the new Sims 3 game for the PC which had been widely anticipated after being put back twice over the last few months. After looking around at various shops to find the best price I managed to buy my copy of Sims 3 for $50 however it is possible to get it online cheaper from eBay for ...

...expansion, and therefore have played the game rather a lot over the years! I have been eagerly following the release of Sims 3, even building a laptop based around it's specs, and so I was very glad when it FINALLY got a release after numerous hold ups! So, what do you do in a Sims game? Whatever you want, really. For me I like to create little families who live out good lives. I like to get them to the top of their careers and into fabulous mansions. ...
...of them like to terrorise the neighborhood, whilst others like to create soap style dramas with their Sims. It really is up to you what you do with them. Though you can play a premade family, that's not something I really enjoy. I much prefer to make my own Sims completely from scratch. In the Sims 3, this is very easy to do, and it's very easy to make your Sims look exactly how you want them. You are given a colour palette under each option and ...

Sadistic gaming back for more

Advantages: Open neighbourhood, more people to torture
Disadvantages: Too much removed from the previous game which shouldn't of been

...remember when I first received the original sims game. It was a genuinely innovative game that allowed players to "play god" on their own virtual family. For many weeks you would run a proper family realising just how difficult it was to make it in a job and for some reason you were required to have lots of friends to get promotions and get a good job (guess that's why I'm unemployed). Eventually this got boring and the game became simply a torture ...
...to swimming pools and removing the ladders or removing all the doors from a room and watching them rather quickly starve to death. Fortunately for the fans PC gaming is not dead yet and the Sims 3 is back allowing us to torture much more graphically detailed people. Good times. The game follows the standard formula of the previous 2, you create a family, you let them get married, get a job, have kids (all the usual stuff) you spend hours training ...

...people may be wondering if The Sims 3 is just an expansion on the 2 previous games? Is it more of the same? Is it worth paying for? You wouldn’t be wrong to think of these questions. What I found beneficial from The Sims 3 is that it has undergone a massive gaming face-lift , making it bigger and better than the previous 2. This game offers a much wider option of customization tools for example: you ae able to determine skin color and modify various facial features, color wheels that allow you to settle on exact clothing hues, and there are a number ...

...fan of computer games. Especially the Sims. I was addicted to the Sims 2 and had so much custom content that my computer hated me for a while. But in the back of my mind I always thought - "Why can't it be more customisable? Why can't I do this, that and the other?" And as that thought hit me, thus the release of Sims 3 was announced. I shrieked with joy as I found out you could completely customise your characters. I danced with happiness as I found ...

The sims 3 is a fun life sim but could do with more content

Advantages: fun gameplay, lets you control to the very last detail, more features then sims 2
Disadvantages: neighbourhoods are lacking, could have more content

Having played Sims right from the start where the Sims was the pinnacle in life gameplay I have to say how far the series has really come. Back in the day the original comprised of character's you couldn't see too well, with faces that didn't move, with limited game play and the inability to really see your families go further then going up the career ladder. Change was brought with the various expansion packs but it was only when the Sims 2 came ...
...personalities and this all made the game far more fun then its predecessor. However after a while even that got boring, there were limits and the fact that it took ages to load neighbourhoods outside your house was really disappointing. This is where Sims 3 comes in. The design is very similar to Sims 2 but the characters have more dimension - they have real personalities that you can choose which in turn influences the way they react to things around ...

The Sims 3

Advantages: can leave property without going to load screen, graphics updated
Disadvantages: hard to control, too complicated, too basic

...Electronic Arts Redwood Shores The Sims 3 The new and improved Sims game where you can now explore your neighbourhood without a blue loading sign popping up on screen. Did we really need the luxury of having your sims walk arround the neighbourhood themselves? In my opinion I think not. If I am honest with you, on the previous Sims games, when you orderd your sims to leave there home plot a blue loading screen would appear. Now this screen would ...
...taking forever. After playing both the Sims 2 & the Sims 3 I would prefer the blue loading screen back. The game now i feel is to complicated. Installing the game was very straight forward no problems at all, I knew i would have to make some space for it, 6.1GB of hard disk to be exact. The new installation process is one thing i did like. The loading times were surprisingly fast and even though the installation was very different, navigation was ...

The Sims 3 - Worth the wait?

Advantages: Fair price, easy to install, £6 free points
Disadvantages: Not as easy as it looks, repetitive, unfinished feel.

...like so many others about the release of The Sims 3 on the PC, well firstly we were all disappointed by the release date being moved and so we had to wait another six months! But then finally it went on sale and I bought it the first day it came out. Now as I sit here writing this, I am bored by The Sims 3 and the whole concept of The Sims. The game claims to be able to do so much more than the original Sims 2. But although the game is slightly more ...
...sim drive to town in the cab, I don't think this actually makes the game easier or more fun. The game now takes longer to do anything. Although I enjoy the game and I believe it has taken a long time to make. I still believe that EA rushed the release of this. I know that other people than myself had problems with The Sims 3 freezing in extremely crucial moments of the game. This problem has now gone away thanks to a patch EA made available. But ...

The master of the simulation game returns

Advantages: Excellent graphics, simple control system, good game depth, excellent amount of careers on offer
Disadvantages: Lack of things to purchase when first purchase the game but can download add ons

The Sims 3 sees the hugely successful franchise from EA games return with its newest version on the PC following The Sims 2 and all of its expansion packs, The Sims Castaway and The Sims Stories. This is the game all of those who loved the Sims have been waiting for and keeping hope up that it would fix all of those little things wrong with the old versions but does it deliver? First impressions on loading the game were that is once again had an ...

Well the game once again allowed the player a good amount of control over the development of your household but disappointingly I felt the game did lack items to be purchased and felt that this was something lacking which I had beleived the game would have addressed but I am guessing this has been ...
