≈ Come for a Skinny Dip ≈

Advantages: Low fat without the nasty diet taste.
Disadvantages: They disappear fast.

...don't you just love it? The other day I was thinking how perfect the weather was for a skinny dip and before I knew it, I'd agreed to give it a go. Thursday morning it was to be, this hot weather had better last. My mind began to wander. What would the kids say? I imagined their response. "Mum how could you do that whilst we're at school?" And then I thought what hubby would mutter.. "hmmm darling you'd better get another job, you've obviously too ...
...As I read around on the subject, I did however begin to get cold feet. Some people were saying it was the worst experience ever, so cold and nasty, stomach churning and enough to make you sick. Others were raving and enjoying the freedom and a sense of naughtiness. I would just have to take the plunge and discover for myself. ≈≈☼≈≈ Dip Time ≈≈☼≈≈ It's an absolute scorcher of a day. The ...

Udderly delicious *groan*

Advantages: very low fat, tasty, can't tell it's low in calories
Disadvantages: 50p a lolly might be considered steep

...delicious, and I can't believe the nutritional information, that I want to tell you all about it now. So let's moooooove on (sorry, last one I promise). WHAT ARE YOU ALL EXCITED ABOUT NOW, PESKY? Well, this little beauty sitting in my sausage-shaped fingers is an ice cream lolly, made by Silhouette. It's called a Skinny Cow, and is about the size of a Magnum or a Solero. ICE CREAM? YOU TOLD US LAST WEEK YOU WERE ON A DIET! Ah-ha, this is no ordinary ...
...100 calories per item - the flavouring dribbling down my arm, chocolate fudge, has only 73 calories and 0.5 g of fat! I don't know how they manage it, but apparently they've been doing it for 12 years in America. The cow on the box says 'I have been making great tasting, low fat products since 1992. I insist on using only the finest ingredients to truly deliver the greatest taste but at the lowest levels of fat and calories per stick'. WHERE DID ...

Can I be a skinny minny too?!

Advantages: Tastes good for a low fat ice cream
Disadvantages: A bit too expensive, some flavours better than others

...especially deserts and having read the other reviews I couldn't wait to go out and find some Skinny Cow products in my local Asda. This review will concentrate on the "sticks" which were all that were available in the store, although I know there are other products available in the range, including cones and tubs. So, to start, what did I buy? I eagerly searched my nearest Asda for any of the Skinny Cow range and found all 4 of the currently available ...
...Cookies n Cream flavours. The other flavour is Very Berry. And what do you get for your money? For £1.98 ( which is a little on the high side, but then most low fat products are - it's like a stealth tax for dieters!) you get 4 ice cream lollies in your chosen flavour, all packaged in a box with a picture of a skinny cartoon cow on the front, along with a picture of the lolly itself. Does it look good on the outside? The box looks appealing, ...

Mint Double Chocolate: A Dieter's Delight!

Advantages: tasty, low-calorie and satisfying
Disadvantages: quite hard to get hold of, reasonably expensive

...like rice cakes, sometimes in the evening I like to sit back and relax with something sweet. Watching your weight can be incredibly boring and disheartening when everyone around you is tucking into a delicious bowl of Ben & Jerry's - their Chocolate-chip Cookie Dough ice cream was my favourite dessert before I started dieting - but luckily, Skinny Cow provides you with a much healthier alternative. The flavour I'm reviewing today is the Mint Double ...
...are worth it, don't worry. The Mint Double Chocolate comes in the usual box of 4, which works out at about 50 pence per ice cream. I think it's worth it. The sticks are quite large as compared to the usual 'healthy living' ice creams sold at most supermarkets (which are usually just miniature versions of their larger bars, and therefore not that healthy after all!). The tagline is "Mint flavour iced dessert made with double cream, swirled with chocolate ...

Disadvantages: can't find the whole range anywhere

...fat" desserts you don't get the "we've had to add in this chemically produced ingredient to make it acceptable" taste which almost makes you want to eat a spoonful of "proper" ice cream than a whole bowl of lab produced food. And not only do they taste good but the whole range is a masterstroke of marketing as it targets the body conscious teen to mid 30 market with funky names, spunky attitude, a sexy tv advertising campaign and a "lifestyle magazine" ...
...don't get hung up on the low fat aspect. You don't feel like you are eating this as a substitute to the good stuff. You don't feel that you are reducing your eating pleasure to reduce your waistline. You are eating it because you have seen it advertised and it looks good enough to eat (literally!). And once you have tried one, you want to try them all. They are creamy in taste but maybe not in texture - they are more solid and possibly more grainy ...

Disadvantages: Tastes awful

...sticks: I must apologise to the manufacturer of these new ice cream lollies. I am sorry if the following opinion offends you but I am writing this review being open and honest. I also apologise to the other writers of Skinny Cow Ice Cream whom seem to praise this item up. Sorry, but I'm not with you on this one. However much I tried to like them, I couldn't. There's no point in me praising up something so vile and disgusting, especially as I have ...

The tubs resemble Ben and Jerries ice cream but no where as good. I haven't and probably will not try the others so cannot comment on how they taste. Let's rewind to the beginning: I bought this box of four lollies from Asda today. I'm on a diet having joined Slimming World last week ...

...a voucher for 50pence off The Skinny Cow chocolate fudge sticks, so whilst hunting in Tesco's freezers for some ice cream cones I spotted these and thought good I can save 50pence and be good to my waistline at the same time. The Contents *************** Now I realise why it is a "stick", the contents, six in my box 4 normally, sealed in a papery wrapper can't be described as an ice cream, It can't be described as an ice lolly. it is an iced dessert on a stick. So that make it a bit difficult, whe you open the packet you want to eat them all! **Taste** Firstly to state the obivous, the sandwhiches are cold, this has its advantages and its disadvantages. You have to bit the sandwhich with your teeth, so if you have sensitive teeth you dont really have any chance of eating the things! When you are chewing the sandwhiches in ...

...fairly new line produced by the company which specilase in low calorie ice creams and snacks. The name of the product tells you what you want to know - "its a play on words, my lud" - and being middle aged and boring, not something I usually buy. Disadvantages: none what so ever

...products that tastes nothing like the real thing'. But then a friend told me she had tried one and fell weak at the knees, so in true spirit I ran down to Asda and bought myself a box of four chocolate fudge flavour. And I'm glad that I did. Like nothing that has come before it, Skinny Cow ice cream is the real deal; it tastes exactly like normal 'ful fat' ice cream, without the feeling afterwards that you need to go for a jog round the park. The ...
...After that box left the freezer (and with my crew, it wasn't long), we bought the cookie and cream flavour, and were in for just as nice surprise. Delicious vanilla ice cream with little biscuity cookie bits swirled inside, it was heaven on a stick. And only 89 calories! A god send gift. I have yet to try the very berry flavour, but by my reckoning, it will be just as luverly. One box of skinny cow lollies costs £1.98 at Asda, a little expensive ...

SKINNY COWS NEED NOT READ!

Advantages: Gorgeous taste for something so low in calories
Disadvantages: Would be nice if it was coated in chocolate (but then that would defeat the object!)

I'm always on the lookout for low-fat food in my local Asda, and came across 'The Skinny Cow' range of ice-creams. I was initially drawn to the box because of the name on it and the cartoon pictures of a skinny cow (literally!) with big red lips and a tape measure over her hips.(that rhymes!) The choice I tried on this occasion was the 'chocolate fudge' flavour so I will proceed to tell you about this one. ************************ There are four ...
...with brown pictures of the skinny cow. Being used to other ice cream lollies I took it out of the freezer and let it defrost for 10 minutes. There is no need to do this as I found it had nearly melted in that short period of time, so the next time I ate it straight from the freezer and it was perfect. ************************* The first thing I noticed when I took the wrapper off was the fact that there was no chocolate coating. I was a bit disappointed ...

Skinny = Boring

Advantages: Low fat, Not as expensive as some others.
Disadvantages: Bland taste, Poor texture.

Wandering into the supermarket one evening, after a rather sinful day of calories I felt the urge for some ice-cream. I noticed this on the shelf and thought it couldn't hurt to go for a low fat option. At £2.99 for the 500ml tub it wasn't as expensive as some of the others on the shelf and the 'Double chocolate malt' flavour sounded very nice. Packaging - Not too shabby, apart from the slighty disconcerting anthropomorphic cow. Looks like a product ...
...doesn't seem up to par. The texture isn't creamy at all and it's quite obvious that this is a diet product. The taste is a somewhat generic chocolate one, and not a particularly luxurious one, think supermarket own brand ice cream with chocolate sauce. The "malt balls' add some nice texture, but as described they are malty and not particularly sweet. Would I by it again? Probably not, there are far too many better tasting ice-creams out there. However, ...

Satisfy an Ice cream craving and feel virtuous!

Advantages: Low fat, even Rosemary Conley can't object
Disadvantages: Chocolate fudge not chocolatey enough

...Asda’s (was still reeling from the scales experiance) Bought 1 packet of each – for research purposes only! Cookies and cream – tasty light vanilla flavour, dark “Oreos” type of biscuit crushed throughout. Very Berry – not too pink with a sauce rippled though it. The best flavour in my opinion. Chocolate fudge – a bit disappointing, blander than I had hoped for. But I’m not keen on “pretend chocolate” There are 4 in a pack for @£1.98 which is ...
...these has less than 2% fat (Rosemary says less than 5% so that’s OK!). Given that they are low in fat (and usually that means there’s only ½ the quantity!) these are substantial, good quality and full of flavour. I’d buy them again, and feel virtuous about it! ...
