All of the characters are portrayed with sufficient detail, but not too much, to enable the reader ...
...only makes a small appearance. The main character, Alec Leamas, is due to be 'put on the shelf', but he is asked to do one last job....but I won't spoil it for you, just read it yourself ! For all fans of espionage thrillers, this is a 'must read'. I thoroughly recommend this, as well as Call For The Dead, of which this book is the follow up to, but hard to obtain.. ...
