1 Star The Daily Dump! Review with images 10/12/2011

    Advantages Advantages Cheap and easy

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Cheap and easy

The shocking death of Gary Speed that has generated such respect and grief from the football community will be a big test of where the tabloids are morally post the News of the World phone hacking scandal. Like the McCann’s saga, at the moment they are taking it easy with him and going with public sentiment out of respect for Speeds family. But it’s becoming obvious that Speed wasn’t that depressed and so he may have killed himself for other reasons. Footballers have wretched gambling habits and we know they find it hard to keep their trousers on around the ladies, a macho world indeed. But ... more

Advantages Advantages A bit of fun

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not quality journalism

This is the type of newspaper I read, on the train, not because it’s a handy format, or easy reading, whilst chugging and rattling along on our clapped out carriages we have up here in Yorkshire, but because so many people seem to leave it on the train, along with, the Sun , the Metro, and a couple of others. I think they might be provided by the regional transport service I never quite worked it out. The train always seems to be packed with them when the train comes in from Sheffield. Funny that. It’s a bit of a cross over between a comic and a newspaper, maybe for people who can’t decide ... more

    Advantages Advantages It's funny

Disadvantages Disadvantages It doesn't give the real story

I find it very hard to take this newspaper seriously and when I do buy it it is for abit of a joke because you can't believe half of the stories that appear in it. The Daily Star is kind of like the Sun's brother only a little ruder and slightly more unbelievable (although not much, because that would be just about impossible!). Below I have listed the sections in the newspaper and given my opinion on each one individualy: The front cover story- This is usually about someone famous or somthing big that is happening in Britain, it is usually blown out of all proportion and often contains words ... more

Advantages Advantages quick, easy read. cash-happy owner!

Disadvantages Disadvantages no in-depth news coverage as yet. poor reputation

Here we go again - time to put on my boxing gloves and defend the Press!! The Star has come in for sensational criticism on these opinion pages most of it, I believe, unwarrented. Firstly, it is the fastest-growing daily paper in Britain today (betcha did't know that!) and is set to become even bigger over the next few months. Why? Well, it's all going to be down to 'Dirty' Des, the new porn baron owner of Express Newspapers, which in turn owns the Star. While he is clawing assets and cash away from the poor Express, he is pumping them into the Star. Recent signings include Brian Woolnough ... more

Advantages Advantages more of a paper than the sport

Disadvantages Disadvantages very thin not many pages

this is the paper that sits, in credibility stakes, above the sport but below the sun and the mirror. The main disadvantage being its very thin I bought one once with only about 32 pages in. The star actualy has some news in it unlike the sport but always seems to take the sex angle to make the story as seedy as possible. There seem to be loads of adverts in for all kinds of things battries not included, and videos alike. The Sport section is the most innacurate I have ever read with most of it hype and speculation. Unless theres a TV star you really want to see in the buff via a blurry out of ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy access to soft porn - if you class this as an advantage...

Disadvantages Disadvantages Easy access to soft porn. No news.

So what happens when you get trapped by the teenage-type lure of that deadly fungus - porn? The options used to be clearcut. Either you could resist on the grounds that it is fundamentally discusting, and not the sort of thing respectible gentlemen endulge in, or you could bury your morals, and sneak out and grab a copy of Playboy, without letting the misses catch you. Now there is a third option - a sort of middle ground. Its for those porn-addict wannabe's, who out of fear do not wish to purchase the gear. The Daily Star. It is basically a sortcore porn mag, disguised as a newspaper ... more

Advantages Advantages Good if you like page 3

Disadvantages Disadvantages Its a rubblish sub quality newspaper

My review for today is from the Daily Star dated 26 March 2001. On the first page is a picture of Kelly Brook and Caprice advertising for the national Cleavage week. I gather that next week the same pictures will be used under the title....Be kind to Dum Animals!!!...Or dum TV presenters anyway. Page three is about Oddball Michael Jackson sleeping with lifesized dolls in his bedroom for company. I dont really know what to say about this!!!.But perhaps Michael should be seeking help and quickly. Again I found this paper to be overcrowded with ads for mobile phones , loans and accident claims. On ... more

    Advantages Advantages Usual tabloid features

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Usual tabloid features

This was the first daily tabloid newspaper to feature page three girls in full colour and if I could end the review there then I would. Why bother with the Daily Star ? of course it will always get slagged of by people who are quite obviously holier than thou and think they are better people because their newspaper is a broadsheet. But fact is that this newspaper is no better or worse than any other tabloid newspaper.Just like all the other papers The Star produces a steady diet of sex drugs and rock 'n roll and will continue to do so for a long time to come no doubt. ... more

Advantages Advantages For the sex crazed

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Yuk!

I have never personally read this paper, and to tell you the truth I don't want to. A friend of mine once came across a copy and most days when I get a paper for my Dad I see it's front cover I see naked women with a strip or(but very rarely)two of leather covering their dignity.it's ingrediants are sport, sex, women, sex, adverts for rude products(and lots of them)and more sex.Uhhhhhhhhhh,yuk. Ity's basically soft porn. Only for the sick, sad or sex crazed. Finally, Yuk!.I think that anyone who would pay for such stuff is V. V. V. sad or sick. ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of semi-naked celebs.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Virtually no serious news.

For a start, if you're going to buy the Star you've got to know what you're getting into. It's basically a tits and arse paper... lots of semi-celebs caught by tourists/paparazzi on grainy polaroid shots. If that's your kind of thing, great. Personally I buy it on occasions just for the pure comic value. It's not a newspaper, it's like a very soft porn magazine. Saying that, there is some worth to it. The sport section ain't bad and you usually get a decent centrefold of some random Page 3 Stunnah. If you want real news, go for another paper, but if you want a bit of both with a laugh thrown ... more
