Review of The Taking - Dean Koontz by
sparkymarky1973
Advantages: As good as Koontz gets- this is a real chiller
Disadvantages: Joint lead character Neil is woefully under-used and almost ignored.....
...my recent review of Koontz's THE HUSBAND, I decided to look over reviews of some of his previous novels as I have a tendency to do from time to time. Stumbling across a review of THE TAKING, I remembered that I had read this but had forgotten exactly what it had been about...knowing that his books are, almost without fail, light and easy reads, I decided to pick it up again and refresh my memory....
I am so glad I did!! Though it doesn't bode well ...

STILL GIVES ME A SHIVER THINKING ABOUT IT!
Review of The Taking - Dean Koontz by
karenes
Advantages: Gripping, scary
Disadvantages: You won't get much sleep!
...stories always terrify me! The Taking was no exception.
As a quick overview I would say it is a cross between Invasion of the Bodysnatchers and Signs with a twist.
This is the first book I have read in a while that has really got to me, I made the mistake of reading it before bed and needless to say, spent a few unsettled nights!
THE STORY:
Moll & Neil Sloan are awoken in the middle of the night by an unusually heavy rainstorm. On further ...

Quick review of The Taking - Dean Koontz
Review of The Taking - Dean Koontz by
Burkett57
This is my fourth Dean Koontz novel; and probably my least favorite. I found the novel too wordy. In my opinion, he spent too much time on descriptions. He also used a lot of words that the average reader never uses, nor knows the definition of. This Book is for the Intellectually Advanced. Overall I like Mr. Koontz books, but this one did not do it for me.

The Taking
Review of The Taking - Dean Koontz by
sgtpepper1981
Advantages: Hard to put down once started and has some good ideas in the story from beginning to end
Disadvantages: The main characters in the story feel a bit thin compared to other koontz novels
From the very beginning of the story koontz has you gripped and does not let go. Has a fast pace throughout that keeps the tension up and the reader guessing whats going to happen next. I have read in other reviews that the first one hundred pages are the best part of the novel but I found it got a hell of a lot better once actually into the story. With a lot of novels (though not usually Koontz) you can have a few guesses at to how everything will ...

The taking, Dean Koontz
Review of The Taking - Dean Koontz by
allanwales
Advantages: Gripping from the start to finish
Disadvantages: none i can see
...started travelling! This has been the one guy who i've stuck with for the last 20 books in the last year, i've also recently read mr king, and found him to be, not in the same class or style.
Anyhow, this book has been one of the best, no point in telling you the story, just to simply say that it has a mysterious force in it, and people struggling to survive, keeping you in a state of suspense from the start to the finish.
This book definitely ...

Suspense grabbing entertainment
Review of The Taking - Dean Koontz by
Phlange21
Advantages: Keeps you engaged, is unputdownable, suspense grabbing entertainment!
Disadvantages: The fact that I finished the book too quickly because I couldn't put it down!
When I read the blurb on this book, it didn't really tell me much of the story, but as I am an avid Dean Koontz fan I read the book anyway and I was not disappointed! In my opinion, this is one of his best books so far. I could not put the book down and was often reading it until the small hours of the morning, cliff hangers on nearly every chapter that kept me wanting more. In parts it was actually quite scary, and really got my imagination going. ...

Dean Koontz does it again
Review of The Taking - Dean Koontz by
isisamber12
Advantages: a spine-tingling chiller that keeps you mesmerized, a quite extraordinary book and a must for all fans
Disadvantages: Can leave you with a sence of panic
...these people and share in the hope and foreboding with them. A wonderful read typical of Koontz yet left me more out of breath that other books of his that i have read. From the strange smelling florescent rain to the wierd and eerie behaviour of the coyotes. The surprise twist at the end was something that i didn't see happening, unlike many novels that i have read. A definite must read for all fans of Koontz and i defy anyone to not become a fan ...
