Better than Lord of the Rings
Review of The Wheel Of Time series - Robert Jordan by
cjkace
Advantages: Good writing style, very descriptive and involving
Disadvantages: When's it going to end?
...fantasy novels since I read The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King, in the early eighties. From that one book I have now collected nearly two hundred fantasy novels of which I rate Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series one of the best, easily bettering Tolkien's Lord of the Rings.
The Wheel of Time consists of nine novels at present (the rumour is that it will finish at thirteen).
Book 1 - The Eye of the World - 1990
Book 2 - The Great Hunt ...

Great but not perfect
Review of The Wheel Of Time series - Robert Jordan by
Defiler
Advantages: Extremely detailed, interesting storyline, lots to read.
Disadvantages: Very, very long, delay between books, occasional unrealistic portraels of characters and similarities of others.
...I had to see if the books really were as good as people said and bought the first one. After reading the first book I felt that the series deserved all the hype it had received, the story was interesting and I was truly drawn into the world, however many of the future books just don't live up to the first few.
--Storyline--
The storyline is complex and has a large number of themes running at once, because the series is quite long and people won't ...

The encyclopedia of what 'wheel' be
Review of The Wheel Of Time series - Robert Jordan by
Saul_Walker
Advantages: Excellent guide to the history and geography of the 'Wheel of Time', Adds to the knowledge of the books
Disadvantages: Poor illustrations, Not for those who haven't read the novels
Having only started reading the Robert Jordan ‘Wheel of Time’ series and thoroughly enjoying it I decided to buy the compendium of the history, geography and sociology of the world where Jordan’s books are set that accompanied the novels. The book illustrates how the world in which the books has been shaped to the current time and is excellent in illustrating what is not fully explained.
The compendium itself is split into three ...

Genius or Hack
Review of The Wheel Of Time series - Robert Jordan by
abbyuk
Advantages: Fantastic Fantasy
Disadvantages: Too Tolkien-esque at times
...are able to agree on The Wheel of Time. Some say this series grows more exciting with each new volume. Others say that the first three or four books held promise and excitement before the series descended into a complex mess of boredom. Some view the female characters as being so strong that they believe Robert Jordan is actually a woman writing under a pen name; others say the women inhabitants of Randland (as fans refer to it) are dull caricatures ...

Wheel of Time - Outstanding
Review of The Wheel Of Time series - Robert Jordan by
purpleangel
Advantages: Keeps you interested.
Disadvantages: A very long series
...faced with eight books ( the ninth one has only just been released ), each three inches thick. However, I was assured by my better half, that they were well worth the read, and I haven’t been disappointed.
I am new to fantasy books, I started with the obligatory “Hobbit” & “Lord of the Rings” and though I found these a good read they were hard going at times.
The “Wheel of time” series has kept me gripped ...

The Wheel Keeps Turning
Review of The Wheel Of Time series - Robert Jordan by
freyaschild
Advantages: Very detailed, engaging
Disadvantages: very detailed, long, drawn out
The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again."(The World of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time, Robert Jordan and Teresa Patterson, Tor, 1997, page 13)
This is how every Robert Jordan book begins in this series. I happen to own the hardback edition of this book, a nice reference, and coffee table book, for anyone ...

Jordan lets himself down.
Review of The Wheel Of Time series - Robert Jordan by
kivashti
Advantages: Complex characters with interesting take on the good versues evil theme
Disadvantages: Not as good as his previous work
The book is an enjoyable read for those people who haven't read much of Robert Jordan's work but to be really honest this book and its companion, Winters Heart (Book 9 of the Wheel Of time series) is basically a filler, something for fans of Robert Jordan to read whilst he sorts out what he wants to write in the next installment.
If someone who has never read a Wheel of time book reads it, then it will be an acceptable read but with plenty of questions ...

The End is Nigh, almost
Review of The Wheel Of Time series - Robert Jordan by
Insidious
Advantages: A great book in a great series
Disadvantages: A lot of reading to get this far
...gripping but because it isn’t the end. When I first started reading Robert Jordan’s “The Wheel of Time” cycle it appeared as if book eight was the end, how wrong I was. For instead of telling a story of an individual or an epic quest, it is the tale of a world spun in layers of intrigue and plot. Of course this requires a lot of words.
If you have made it as far as book eight though, you must find this a good quality. “The Path of Daggers” carries ...

One of, if not, the best fantasy series.
Review of The Wheel Of Time series - Robert Jordan by
gawsome
Advantages: Great story, unique style, fantastic characters and concepts
Disadvantages: Will it ever end?
Wow. The Wheel of Time is a triumph for the fantasy genre: a veritable tour de force. Once you pick this series up there is no letting go. A warning should be issued at the start of each of the installments, warding of the dangers of obsession (there are many.many obsessed fans circulating on the numerous Wheel of Time websites).
Essentially the plot revolves around an eternal battle between good and bad. Yes this is an exceptionally common concept, ...

What is the Wheel of Time Series
Review of The Wheel Of Time series - Robert Jordan by
Aran-gar
Advantages: Great Books Very long so you get alot of reading
Disadvantages: Long so they take a couple of years to right each one. But I findmyslef reading them over and over to remind me of the story and the character while I wait of r tehn next one to come out.
The Wheel of time is a series (currently 9 books but still going) written by Robert Jordan. I borrowed the book off a friend at school after he spent a whole science lesson telling me all about the bit he was reading and how "kick ass cool" it was. I started reading the books in the wrong order as I bought them while on a visit to America and had the first one in my other bag while on the plane and so hence started my reading with the second one. ...

Winters Heart - Fabulous as ever
Review of The Wheel Of Time series - Robert Jordan by
tatum69
Advantages: Everything ;+)
Disadvantages: Nothing ;+)
...Fantasy SHOULD be, with this the 9th in the Wheel of Time series.
The series began following 3 young men (Rand, Perrin and Mat) and 2 young woman (Egwene and Nynaeve) as they were taken from their cosy farmers' lives out into the huge and dangerous world, with Trollocs, Aes Sedai and just general Evil on all sides. Now, 8 books (and a few years ;) later, Jordan continues with his saga.
Rand is in hiding from the Asha'man, Perrin is searching ...

I'd rather read this than Lord of the Rings.
Review of The Wheel Of Time series - Robert Jordan by

Advantages: A very good read
Disadvantages: Blood and ashes, it's addictive. Not that cheep either.
...ago that I picked up the Eye of the World (book one of the WoT series, for those who didn't already know),
and at that time, book nine had recently been released. I didn't know what to expect, all I knew was that the series had quite an online fan following. So I bought it. This is going to be a hard series to review without getting into the story too much, but I will try.
The story begins with by delving three thousand years before the series ...

Not bad, but not outstanding either
Review of The Wheel Of Time series - Robert Jordan by
jujulita
Advantages: A pretty good quality fantasy
Disadvantages: A bit tiring
...(american version of Lord of the Ring, too many similarities etc) but i have to say i quite liked it. The beginning does look a lot like LOTR. 3 young guys from a very quiet village that knows nothing of the world outside it's boundaries (and is not really that interested), all of a sudden end up in the middle of events that will change the whole world (beating the evil guy to save all that's good). And so they go on a journey towards the unknown ...

Review of The Wheel Of Time series - Robert Jordan by
chappy81
Advantages: Absolutely Immersing, Brilliant storytelling style
Disadvantages: It is quite a long series...still going
...to come (apparently) and so the series is well and truly alive!
The story begins around a remote village and farming folk, and develops quickly into a destiny, and ultimately duty based quest for some of these simple folk in no less than saving the world from dark influences. I hesitate to give away or summarize the story, as it is so thick with intrigue, politics, battle, friendship and adventure that this review could never do it all justice.
