Advantages Advantages A great fully enclosed shopping centre

Disadvantages Disadvantages no M and S (yet)

WHITE ROSE CENTRE We recently found ourselves on the M62 heading back towards Manchester near Leeds and in need of a long break. Although not totally clear what it was, we saw the brown shopping basket signs and the arrow off the motorway to the White Rose Centre. Within minutes we had gone round a few roundabouts and an entrance to the White Rose Centre was on our left. Not knowing which was the best car park for the site we followed the car in front, which took us into Car Park 6. This also happened to be a good car park for the disabled as there were a lot of reserved disabled spaces and ... more

Advantages Advantages Women's clothes shops lined together :o)

Disadvantages Disadvantages Men will complain because their's aren't :o(

For those of you who haven’t visited the White Rose centre and wonder what it’s like, then imagine Meadow Hall (Sheffield), Trafford Centre (Manchester) or Metro Centre (Newcastle) only think along a smaller scale. My main argument with such larger than large shopping centres is that they take a whole weekend to trudge round and turn shopping into a traumatic, stressful, nervous breakdown experience! The White Rose Centre on the other hand can be walked around in an hour or so and makes shopping a pleasant, enjoyable and therapeutic experience – just how it should be ;o) The ... more

Advantages Advantages Large Selection of shops

Disadvantages Disadvantages Parking a nightmare in busy periods

The White Rose Centre is a medium sized shopping centre on the outskirts of Leeds, the smaller equivalent of Sheffields Meadowhall. I think The White Rose Centre is just the right size and has a good mix of shops. It's opening times changes for the Christmas period with late night opening but at the moment are as follows: Monday 10am - 8pm Tuesday 10am - 8pm Wednesday 10am - 8pm Thursday 10am - 9pm Friday 10am - 8pm Saturday 9am - 7pm Sunday 11am - 5pm White Rose is conveniently located on the south side of Leeds close to the motorway network off junction 28 of the M62. The centre's address is ... more

Advantages Advantages Free parking, out of the city centre

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Often crowded

The White Rose Centre is located near to the M621 in Leeds. It's not far from the infamous football ground of Elland Road and is sufficiently far out of the centre so as to avoid nightmare parking scenarios. Parking and travel The White Rose offer free parking in 8 to 10 enormous car parks. It also has a bus station and a taxi facility so, when you're laden down with shopping, travel is convenient. There are a substantial number of disabled spaces in each car park and access to the centre is easy as there are no steps leading from the car parks to the centre. The road system for the centre is ... more

Advantages Advantages lots and lots of shopping

Disadvantages Disadvantages tired feet and big credit card bills

White Rose Centre - where to start? Well first, its in West Yorkshire and easily accessible via the M1 (junction 41) and the M62. Located near to Elland Rd Football Stadium on the outskirts of leeds, it is well signposted and is easy to notice upon approach. Parking is not a problem, as the centre is not as well known as some other major shopping malls. There is sufficient parking for thousands of people and on any regular day you can always get a spot pretty close to the door. As expected, during festive periods and when sales are on it does mean the place is busier so you may end up walking ... more

Advantages Advantages Free Parking, Large Variety of shops in one place

Disadvantages Disadvantages Chav Central, No Individuality, Can Be Crowded

I know that it appears like blatant snobbery, but it really is the case now. Everywhere you turn in White Rose you see some small pocket of "yoofs" wearing kappa tracksuits tucked into football socks, white adidas trainers, a tracksuit top (not matching) and a Burberry cap or similar depending on their chav status (See an Upcoming Ciao Cafe review for that one!) The White Rose Centre is actually a useful place. It has a whole gamete of high street stores conviniently massed in one place, organised well and there is free parking (a rarity nowadays). There is also the larger department stores ... more
