Advantages: Funny in places Disadvantages: Lacks consistency
...aware of Jeremy Clarkson through the excellent TV programme Top Gear, a show that is not just for petrol heads as it is also one of the funniest programmes on TV as well given some of the stunts and challenges they do. In the show he is the arrogant, opinionated alpha male with a hearty dislike of Europe, foxes, anything environmentally friendly and French cars. Oh and political correctness. In addition to his TV work he also writes a newspaper column ...

Advantages: Humour covering a wide range of subjects. Disadvantages: Some of the topical humour dates quickly.
...people who are interested in the latest developments in cars will know this author, Jeremy Clarkson, from watching his BBC2 programme Top Gear. My only interest in cars is that I like them to get me about in reasonable comfort, so I have only seen snippets of the Top Gear programme when other people in my house have been watching it.
Similarly, because of my lack of interest in how cars and other machines work, I haven't read any other of Clarkson's ...

Advantages: An interesting compelation of his articles from 2001 - 2003 Disadvantages: A few repeated issues and not much structure
Over the last few years or so I have become quite big fan of Top Gear and in particular Jeremy Clarkson. I'd previously read one of his other books, I Know You've Got Soul, so when I came across The World According To Clarkson it was inevitable I was going to read that as well. I've read a number of Clarkson's newspaper columns in the Sun but hadn't really seen much from his days with the Times. This book gave me the opportunity to put that right ...

...has written columns for both the Sunday Times and The Sun.
'The World According To Clarkson' is a collection of his columns from 2001 to 2003. Written for the Sunday Times the book follows Jeremy as he writes from various countries across Europe and the world on subjects that range from the British weather, to why he'd like to be a German, to why he shouldn't be allowed to look after his kids. Clarkson's style of writing is easy to read, at the ...

Advantages: Funny, easy to read because of short stories rather than whole book Disadvantages: Not long enough!
...hate him. Personally I think the guy is brilliant and this book shows just how good he can be.
I have been a fan of Clarkson on the TV in his Top Gear role for a long time and I own most of his videos. I was unsure whether his humour would work written in a book becuase his accent on words and his comical deadpan face help. However I was wrong to be worried.
In this book Clarkson covers various subjects with his musings, wild descriptions and ...

...Jeremy Clarkson's weekly column in the Sunday Times from the beginning of 2001 through to the end of 2003.
...Oh, and don't think just because it's Clarkson that's it filled with merry quips on cars, cars and more cars...it's not, so don't be deterred, and even those that love his work with BBC's Top Gear, you'll want to read on too...
As the blurb on the back of the books states, "Clarkson has seen rather more of the world than most..." but ...

...written for his column in the Sunday Times during the period of 7th January 2001 to 14th December 2003. These include topics such as his experience on a trip to Austria, music taste, the Concorde and personal experience of hunting foxes. Some of the material in his book may be found offensive, my advice is only read what you want to, as the book is comprised of many little articles it wouldn't matter if all the articles weren't read.

Advantages: Funny and interesting Disadvantages: Not as funny as he is on TV
...of his saturday column in The Sun, I bought this book to read some more of his funny opinions on things...anyway, it cost me around £4 on Amazon...and it was money well spent!
It was very easy to read, it doesn't go on and on about the same things, Clarkson spends a couple of pages on each subject, which is enough.....I couldn't put it down as the book covers lots of different things, such as Tony Blair, fox hunting, parenting, Europe, America, ...

...not a good book on the whole because it is. Clarkson does have a lot of material that people of all classes can relate to, covering topics from fox hunting, european travel, environment, transport, pitched in easy to read, well informed, interesting short stories.
Even if you dont like the whole book there will be a number of nuggets in there to capture your interest and at the least make you laugh. This in my opinion is not one of Clarkson's best ...

And contrary to what you may expect, he doesn't talk about cars that often! A lot of the content is thought provoking, but not too heavy - and though the latest article was written a couple of years ago, you'll still find it funny.

Each article forms a small chapter and involves a monologue about whatever happened to take his fancy that week, be it the woeful lack of interesting new landmark buildings, the problems with music today or visting the most expensive hotel in the world and is by no means focussed on cars or motoring. Every article reads like a well informed, slightly jaded, toned down rant. Clarkson is ...

Jeremy Clarkson is one of my favourite personalities. I love his dry sense of humour and the fact that he has absolutely no shame, and that is definitely what has made his book.
