Have You Ridden The Temple of Gloom

Advantages: Hours of fun, pretty cheap
Disadvantages: Poor graphics, poor instruction manual

...hearts out, creating your own theme park is a whole lot cheaper, and loads more fun. Okay, well for adrenalin rush junkies it's perhaps not more fun, but it sure is enjoyable all the same. Theme Park World gives you the chance to build your own amusement park in four different themed lands. Entry to the various lands is gained with a certain number of golden keys, one of which you are given to start you off. One key allows you access to the Magic ...
...does have it's faults... Theme Park World, from Bullfrog, followed on some 5 years after the original version (Theme Park) was released in 1994. Although general game play has been taken to a new level of enjoyment and excitement with the different themed lands and new rides, the rest hasn't advanced so well. The animations are still very cartoon like, close up viewing still painfully poor, and the visuals can appear blurred and blocky. The game ...

Your Own Personal Alton Towers

Advantages: good graphics, looks fun
Disadvantages: complicated, seemed to get stuck at one point

I was given Theme Park as a birthday present, after many happy hours playing Theme Hospital and expected to love playing this game. I installed it easily enough on the computer, read the booklet, then began to play. However, I seemed to get stuck in the same place every time I tried to play it. I could build and position the first ride, then I seemed to grind to a halt and I wasn't sure what to do next. I consider myself to be quite computer literate ...
...The CD-ROM computer game, Theme Park, was made by Bullfrog in 1994. The graphics are very good and it looks like it could be an absorbing and quite addictive game, if you have the patience to pursue it. The game comes with a New Business Portfolio, which is actually a detailed booklet about the game. The aim is to make your theme park the best and you receive a statement which rates yours against 40 others in six different categories - Richest Owner, ...

Let your imagination run free

Advantages: Enjoyable game, fantastic graphics, lots of varying factors
Disadvantages: Can get tedious, been done before (many a time)

...have control over how a theme park is built and designed, to see what it would be like to make a mockery of your career without it affecting your real-life personal financial income, or just to mess about, scaring the pants off hundreds of people and having to clean up the inevitable visible consequence? I have. And after enjoying the thrills that the original Theme Park brought so many of us some 6 or 7 years ago, I was eager to try my wits against ...
...you who don't know already, Theme Park Inc. is the latest in the sequence of 'sim' or simulated games to be released by Bullfrog (other games released include 'Theme Hospital' and 'Theme Park World'). The aim of the game is to try and access all three theme parks which the game allows you to develop from scratch into intricate and complex theme parks, bringing in as much money as possible in the process. Only one park is available at the start, ...

Scream if You Wanna Go FASTER

Advantages: Good fun - keeps you occupied for hours, days and weeks
Disadvantages: Hard to do anything else! Oh, and the end is a bit disappointing.

...the shows. Imagine your favourite theme park. Imagine you were the boss of that theme park. Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? Well, you are pretty much imagining what it is like to play Theme Park World. I am not going to go into all the details of when, where and how the idea came up but it is here and it is fab! In the beginning (no, this is not an excerpt from the bible but it could well be the TPW bible!) there are four parks. You can only ...
...parks extra successful you can build up points to proceed to the other parks. Each park is on it’s own little island. You are given a set amount of space within which to build your park. You have a budget to buy paths, shops, rides, and staff. Once your park is open you begin to make money from visitors. These people (all kids) arrive by bus, boat and plane and pay for their entrance fee at the gate. Once they are inside the park they are at ...

Advantages: Fun while it lasts
Disadvantages: Dodgy engine

...nice, solid and improved original, Theme Park World was a bit of a let down, it didn’t have the addictive pull of the original game so Bullfrog are at it again with Theme Park Inc. The clue is in the title. This game is far more business orientated than TPW and the original come to that. You now don’t just build a park, improve it, make money and get bored. You start off as assistant manager and must climb to the top to take over as president ...
...in each zone). Theme Park Inc also provides new functions for staff. Engineers can be trained to upgrade rides or master the art of stone masonary, and cleaners can put out fires or clean rubble, these skills are sometimes needed to complete a certain objective, this is a welcome addition to the game because TPW just left staff as they were. As ever the staff will demand wage rises and this can become tedious because you need to go through each one ...

Disadvantages: Gets slow when the park is full

...of Sim City, The Sims, Theme Hospital and the most famous of them all Theme Park. Bullfrog became very famous for their original game and after the game had appeared on various platforms it was decided that an update was well overdue. So what did we get? Theme Park World, that’s what. All the principles from the original game are there, you build a park, employ staff, research rides etc but many elements of the original have been updated. Visuals: ...
...them is a Jurassic Park theme and the rides within it are all based around that theme. I think this actually works quite well but in a way it’s more realistic to have different themes within the park as opposed to a whole park with just one theme. It doesn’t matter though as each of the five parks are quite different and this also means that there is a much larger selection of rides available. You can’t just jump in anywhere either, ...

Walk around your creation

Advantages: Good graphics, quite addictive and you can walk round the park!
Disadvantages: The adviser can get annoying!

...If so, you will love Theme Park Inc. This is one of the variants in the long-standing popular computer game, Theme Park. You have been given the job of a manager at a theme park, and have certain targets to meet. If you manage this, you expand into more of the park. I previously had the original CD version of Theme Park. But when it didn’t work on my new computer I decided to “treat” myself to the latest offering. The Inc. version looked excellent, ...
...breeze. This version of Theme Park is harder than the original, with you being given various tasks to do – all in your message inbox. The workers also are more realistic demanding rises or they’ll quit and also threatening to strike if there isn’t a staff room. As I have mentioned, the graphics are miles better than the original version. You can zoom in and out of the park in real time and moving around is easy. The rides are much better rendered ...

Disadvantages: Presentation

...task is to build a theme park (hence the name) and try to make it as profitable as possible. This is the second in that seris of games and the graphics have now become 3D. My personal opinion on this game is that it is good but dont think it is as good as the original theme park ...

The way you get golden keys is by getting golden tickets, you get golden tickets for various things for example getting vistors in the park, keeping them happy and so on. Also in Theme park world although the graphics are good feel as though the themes for the three world could have been better especially if they just kept them simple ...

3D Theme Park

Advantages: Fantastic 3D graphics
Disadvantages: None

Theme Park World is the 3D sequel to the popular classic, Theme Park. The idea of the game is to maneage your very own theme park by building rides, shops and various other attractions to keep the visitors (little people) as happy as possible. Theme Park World has very good graphics, especially compared to the first version, and the rides and shops look excellent in 3D. You link all your rides and attractions up by building paths and special walkways ...

SO addictive

Advantages: Fun fun fun!
Disadvantages: might be slow running if you have a slow comp

If you love Theme Parks, then I think it's fair to say you will love this game. Well, riding the rides bit anyway! THE AIM... The aim of the game is build a theme park, believe it or not, and to do this you have to manage your finances, hire and fire staff, build rides, shops, sideshows and all the time research new rides that will pull the crowds in. STARTING OUT... At the start, you have $50,000 and a choice of 4 theme parks. Well, actually ...
...loops! And the better your theme park does in terms of profit and visitor number the more GOLDEN TICKETS (woohoo!) you get. You can use golden tickets to build MYSTERY RIDES (wow!) and build up the number of golden keys you have. ALL SOUND A BIT MUCH...? You get into it SO quickly and you just can't seem to stop playing! You get set challenges which earn you extra cash so you just want to make your park better and better! Also, you always have ...

I found myself instantly hooked: "yes kids, you can stick metal objects in the plug socket, dangle each other out the windows by the legs" - don't worry, Mel, not really! But yes, very engaging. So I spent a couple of years resenting its lack of availability for Apple Maccers. For those of you that need to know ...
...the means to operate a Theme Park. You buy rides, sideshows and shops, and adjust the settings to keep all the visitors happy. A high rate of happiness means more visitors, more money spent. The aim is not to go bankrupt while building up the best park ever. There are nice touches, for example, if you add loads of salt to the fries, they buy more drinks. If you make the rides you build too exciting, the kids will throw up on vacating, meaning more ...

Could have been so much better...

Advantages: Loads of things to do, draws you in and keeps you involved
Disadvantages: No way to actually "win" the game, gets a bit repetetive after a while

If you played the original Theme Park to death, you probably won't get too much out of this. But, if like me you never had the chance to really play the original, then you'll love this game. The premise is simple; build a theme park, get people to come to it, and make lots of money. There is no way of "winning" the game as such, which is a bit of a downer; in, for example, Theme Hospital, you had specific win criteria for each level, like making ...

Not the Best Ride in the Park

Advantages: More rides than original, easier gameplay, camcorder mode
Disadvantages: Need a fast computer to really enjoy

Theme Park World was cheap in the sales at only £9.99 and as I had already purchased all the other Theme titles, and thoroughly enjoyed them, I felt that this was a bargain. The game is much like the original Theme Park, an absolute best seller in 1994, with the aim of building a park, making lots of money and then making a better park. This is basically the aim behind its sequel as well. Theme Park World is nothing special- it doesn’t break ...
...also basically has the same interface as it’s predecessor just given a new, more cartoon look, as would any game with the advancement in modern day computer graphics. There are four worlds in which to build your park each costing more ‘Keys’ than the one before- ‘keys’ are won while building a park on the easier worlds. This is the first let down of the game (for me anyway), there is only four worlds which limits your ...
