Thunderbirds

Thunderbirds is a good show. The plots are packed with tension. The puppets are as realisitc as can be expected and spotting strings prvides hours of harmless fun. The program revolves around the rescues done by international rescue. The characters are all much the same. The best being Lady Penelope and Parker. My main conern about this program is that its content can sometimes be a little bit misleading. In the last episode i watched a man got away with theft, drink driving and breaking in. An excellent puppet show that has been laughted at for years and yet it is still on prime time television, so basically it can't be that bad. Despite the mocking and immations, by people who watched it when it was new, Tracy Island is still tipped to be the number 1 selling Christmas toy this year. Stingray, Captain Scarlet and Joe 90 all atempted to mimic the charm for Thunderbirds but never quite got it right. I am one of those oldies who grew up on this show, and I am glad to see it back on the screens. That it has been consistently repeated over the last couple of decades is proof enough that it still draws the viewers, and now it is coming to an all-new generation who will doubtless love it just as we did all those years ago - the FIRST time around. Today's world is full of "reality-based" shows and I think the fantasy of this is something that helps young children to open their minds and learn to use their imagination. It's nice to see Thunderbirds is still on our screens. I have lost count of the number of times the show has been repeated on television but clearly, it still has its place in the hearts of the nation some thirty years after it was created. We all remember the fuss over the tracy island bestselling toy a few years back, you couldnt get hold of one for love nor money!! (I know, I tried!) and this christmas just gone, tracy island along with Thunderbird merchandise in general, was still selling out. Gerry Anderson really made it big when he created this series. Thunderbirds is a well known cartoon, sponsored by Supermarionation, who is a string company. All Gerry Anderson programmes are made using Supermarionation, which is puppets using strings. My opinion on the programme is they should remove the string and put in computerised characters, to make the programme more exciting! But this programme was made in the 60's. I have nearly all the episodes on video! Tracy Island is among one of the many expensive Thunderbirds toys! I think they should lower the prices of the toys!! LOL!
