Advantages: The variety of characters and scenes Disadvantages: Missions can get a bit samey
In a nutshell, Timesplitters is a combination of all the better 1st person shoot 'em up games that we all know and love. It's not particularly original but that is one of the things that is great about the game: it’s blindingly good fun without losing the familiar style of classics like Halflife or Quake.
As far as plot is concerned, it hasn't really got one. There are some nasty evil things that...well, split time. And that's basically it. ... ...it is worth mentioning that Timesplitters also has the obligatory statistics chart at the end of each level; although it is totally useless it is always a source of amusement when playing with friends.
Oh, and one last thing, if anyone who already has the game can enlighten me as to where exactly Ravelle Velvet keeps her gun when she isn't using it then please let me know... ...

Advantages: Fast gameplay, Very different, Ability to shoot people in groin Disadvantages: Glitchy control system
Timesplitters was one of the better launch games for the PS2. Designed by Free Radical and published by Eidos, Timesplitters was an unexpected smash hit. Although never reaching the number one spot (I think) it did extremely well for a little known game. One simple measure of its acclaim would be that the notoriously hard to please Edge magazine said that Timesplitters was “the game worth buying a PS2 for”. Believe me you don’t ... ...view in front of you). Timesplitters is split into two main separate modes, Arcade and Story. You would think that story mode would be a shooter revolving around a storyline of some kind. Nope. There is not a hint of story present in Timesplitters anywhere. Whether or not this is a good thing is down to your own point of view and I am still undecided. I liked the story in Metal Gear Solid and Syphon Filter but I do not see how a realistic story could ...

Advantages: Great multiplayer, good graphics, fun. Disadvantages: Hardly any!!
TimeSplitters is a simple idea, really. Just like when they created the masterful Goldeneye, the former Rare team members have created an arcade-style first-person shooter that spotlights pure blasting over complexity, and fast-action and high frame rates over too much detail in TimeSplitters. It's often cheap, popcorn gaming, but it's just so damn fun. Skipping pomp and ceremony, Free Radical has created a game that highlights multiplayer over the ... ...Players get to grips with TimeSplitters in either single player mode or multiplayer mode, Story or Arcade. The single-player Story mode is essentially capture the flag over a period of several decades, all in which you must venture to pick and return secret items before the TimeSplitters themselves (time-traveling demons of sorts) come to take your life. Arcade is a just a free ride into any of the opened levels for a good blast fest. Playing through ...

Advantages: Great Graphics/sound. Disadvantages: Learning curve to step on harder levels
TimeSplitters is a first person perspective shoot-em up.
Turning the game on allows you to input your player name or to select to enter a new name. Then its straight into the action. Choose the first level and off you go.
At first the controls are very clumsy, the left stick being for Forward/reverse and side step left/right. The Right stick controls the angle of your weapon. This made me feel as though my character had a gun turret. The Right ... ...one button is for crouching.
First impressions are good, the games graphics are clear and flow very smoothly with movement. Sound is excellent especially through my Surround Sound system, it definitely adds to the atmosphere.
After a while the feeling of the controls improve and they are no longer clumsy.
Each level is unique, going through many different levels of time, the first being in an Egyptian temple, through to a Haunted Mansion and a ...

Advantages: Very playable and enjoyable game, well thought out with a plethora of secrets and hidden bits to keep you hooked. Good multiplayer options and the ability to design your own levels is a major boost. Very smooth and well presented. Subtle humour adds fun Disadvantages: Graphics a bit unpolished, perhaps more preset levels would have been appreciated.
...what worried me most about timesplitters was the level of control you'd have over your character - clearly analogues were going to be put into practice somewhere down the line..and indeed they were. Confusion is the first thing that hit me when playing the game - controls are extremely different to the myriad of others that have gone before it - the use of two 3d sticks takes a fairly long time to get hold of, but i can genuinely say with enough ... ...and really adds the depth shown in games like goldeneye to make games like this work. Graphically the game isn't as detailed as others i could mention..but all this seems to have been sacrificed to maintain the general speed of proceedings - something the game definitely boasts. Being attacked by about 30 zombies at once is certainly not unusual, and a whole host of weaponary is on offer..thanks to a neat original plot..which involves time travelling ...

TimeSplitters is a first person shooter for the PS2 and was one of the first games released on the launch of the PS2. After paying the 300 quid for this console I decided it was time to go out and find a game that was worth playing… this proved to be a bit of a problem as the first games released for the PS2 weren’t the best bunch.
I eventually settled on Timesplitters because I really enjoy first person shooters… the most of which ... ...I believe it was.
TimeSplitters is a great laugh, especially on multi-player, there is a big range of weapons ranging from pistols, and rifles to miniguns and assault shotguns. Running around the levels being able to shoot or even punch some of the opponent’s heads off can be really fun especially when thay carry on fighting with no heads.
The game itself has two options, arcade or story mode… The story mode is enjoyable and moves through ...

...artefact is captured, the evil TimeSplitters race appear, meaning the route to base won't be enemy-free and hence, won't be easy. Whilst completion of Story on Easy can take about an hour, TimeSplitters is a tricky game as enemies are quite quick to react and are highly accurate. A bonus comes in the pre-defined Arcade-style games of Challenge mode, but lady luck does have a little part to play in a few of these; Story Mode on Hard is well difficult and is the toughest task to accomplish in Timesplitters. ...first thing you notice about Timesplitters is that there is no flash intro movie. This seems strange, until you notice that there are none of the other usual things that you associate with a launch title, such as over-good graphics that seem to be all that you’ve paid for. This is not a traditional lunch title. The emphasis is on playability, not graphics, and it seems like a breath of fresh air. That’s not say that the graphics are poor, ... ...a lot.
I think Timesplitters really shines in its multiplayer mode, but perhaps more effort could go to the single-player mode. There should be more depth (perhaps more objectives and more levels) but if it were anywhere as good as the multiplayer, it would be a whole lot better. Timesplitters 2, anyone?

Advantages: Great Gameplay, Fast, Frantic Multiplayer Disadvantages: A bit offensive
I imported a Playstation 2 from the U.S a couple of weeks ago, to make sure that I got one. This was one of the games that I bought with, and it has not let me down. It is terrific! The controls take some getting used to, utilising both analog sticks as well as almost all the buttons in order to move, reload, and fire your period-based assortment of weapons. The sounds and music are typical, I think, of many first-person shooters. However, both volume ... ...The graphics, in my mind, can easily compete with most PC games in the same genre. I have yet to find lag points or see breakup in spite of the ever-pressing high speed of the game. The object is to "remove" 50 heads from undead bodies in 2 minutes. In this sequence, surrounded by multiple enemies, ...
