Tiscali- Broadband

Tiscali is a company that makes a mockery of the term "Internet Service Provider" as they fall down pretty much on all three counts. It's been my misfortune to have paid these people my hard earned cash for the past few months, but let's start from the beginning: Tiscali is an Italian owned company that has been providing it's ISP services since 1998 and has bought out many smaller ISPs across Europe, it now provides services to 11 EU countries. ...

Back in February I had just started a new job as a civil servant and needed to use the Internet a lot. I had a dial-up connection at home and regularly used it for Internet banking, ordering DVD's, all the usual things. I have the full Tscali package of broadband, TV and telephone and, as another reviewer commented, when it works it's great and offers good value. But, if anything goes wrong, that's when your troubles begin. My service broke down and I was told it was a simple process to get me up and running again and it would take "3 to 5 working days" After the 5 working days were up I called again only to be told that the request for workhadn't been processed ...

I moved to Tiscali business ADSL in May 2007 from Demon because they offered true unlimited and unmetered broadband with no caps or restrictions. Tiscali's website also promised a FREE firewall which wasn't that important to me but it was free so I phoned their sales line and got through to an English call centre. I moved my mum from tesco dial-up to Tiscali broadband about 4/5 years ago and everything seemed 'ok'. We had a 1mb package at £14.99, a year later i noticed through their tv adverts that tiscali were now selling 2mb for the same price, so i rang and asked to be upgraded for the same price and we were upgraded very easily.
