    Advantages Advantages Whe it works it's OK. Fairly cheap deals.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages When it doesn't work, you might as well talk to the wall. Slow and unreliable.

    Tiscali is a company that makes a mockery of the term "Internet Service Provider" as they fall down pretty much on all three counts. It's been my misfortune to have paid these people my hard earned cash for the past few months, but let's start from the beginning: Tiscali is an Italian owned company that has been providing it's ISP services since 1998 and has bought out many smaller ISPs across Europe, it now provides services to 11 EU countries.     Disadvantages Disadvantages When it doesn't you are truly screwed.

    Internet Service Providers. You know who you are! Swanking about the place offering great deals, free routers, talk packages and waffle makers (okay, so I made the last one up). What you neglect to say is that your twelve month minimum contract will result in sporadic service, countless calls to premium rate "helplines" (and I use the phrase in the loosest sense) and endless repetitive frustrations.     During December of last year my Internet Service Provider (ISP) Tiscali came out with a special offer for Broadband access for existing members. The offer has since expired so it will serve no useful purpose to describe it here. Suffice to say the offer was attractive enough for me to take up the offer and subscribe. The actual subscription for the offer was completed on line and was simple to complete.     I have toyed with the idea of getting broadband for a long time now, but have always been either confused as to which company I should go with, or put off by the prices. I have been with Freeserve on their Anytime package for at least two years now, and overall have been completely happy with the service they provide. I was swayed to go with Tiscali on their £15.99 a month package for a few reasons. One was a recommendation from my brother who had recently installed it.     Back in February I had just started a new job as a civil servant and needed to use the Internet a lot. I had a dial-up connection at home and regularly used it for Internet banking, ordering DVD's, all the usual things. Unfortunately my destructive younger sister somehow managed to ruin the connection beyond all repair. My boyfriend had had broadband for quite some time and I had used it many times, it seemed great.     Tiscali = Fast Me = Furious I am sorry this review is very long, but I wanted to detail the type of problem I have experienced. Being a serious web surfer, I decided last March (2004) that it was time to get broadband. I wanted Fast, unlimited access. I chose Tiscali as at the time it was the only provider that offered both these things as well free connection and modem. The sign up process was quick and easy, I used their website but I believe you can also order by phone.     For those of you not familiar with Tiscali, it was formed in 1998 in Italy, and now provides internet access to countries throughout Europe including Germany and the United Kingdom. My first encounter with Tiscali came earlier this year when i needed to change my ISP (Internet Service Provider).     Hi All, Ive been quiet on CIAO for a while, but thought i'd just share my experiences roaring into the 21st century with a lightning fast (well 512Kbs) broadband connection. As a former Tiscali Anytime user, (£14.98, 56K dial up, generally slow ish response), I finally took the decision to upgrade when the price differential between broadband and anytime became non existent.     I have the full Tscali package of broadband, TV and telephone and, as another reviewer commented, when it works it's great and offers good value. But, if anything goes wrong, that's when your troubles begin. My service broke down and I was told it was a simple process to get me up and running again and it would take "3 to 5 working days" After the 5 working days were up I called again only to be told that the request for workhadn't been processed and that they'd rush it through for me - they seemed genuinely apologetic.     I moved to Tiscali business ADSL in May 2007 from Demon because they offered true unlimited and unmetered broadband with no caps or restrictions. Tiscali's website also promised a FREE firewall which wasn't that important to me but it was free so I phoned their sales line and got through to an English call centre. They confirmed their business service was true unmetered and unrestricted so I signed up.
