Advantages: None Disadvantages: billing is screwed, harrasment, changed my e-mail settings and screwed it up, cannot get through to their tech support team, web site down a lot of the time
Tiscali were originally known as Worldonline this year and worldonline got taken over.
Since Tiscali have come into operation they have made many changes and have messed my service up.
They kept on sending me e-mails and writing to me telling me that my dial up telephone number would no longer be valid and I had to change it.
They made the change easy for you by going to auto configure.So I dine that and changed it in my settings on my pc but ... ...actually thinking of changing from Tiscali because their billing is always screwed up and they don't take the money on time and will sometimes collect two in a month and this is inconvient and I don't like being in arrears even though it is their error and you have to pay by credit card.Again I don't mind this too much but I would prefer direct debit as my salary goes in my current account each month and this is my preferred way of paying all my ...

Well, Tiscali started well in our books. The written correspondence was useful, and billing was all well and good. Although the quarterly line rental seemed to crop up at irregular periods, it all seemed to work out. The internet service itself seemed to work perfectly well. Again, following 'localtel's practice, it disconnects you after two hours of continual use, free to reconnect immediately. Calling through was a doodle, ... ...less busy. Then, Tiscali proceeded to introduce a new set of internet tariffs: The standard pay as you go; [this had no rental monthly charge)
Tiscali 50; Tiscali 100 (which allowed these respective number of hours per month use of the internet, the latter obviously the more expensive);

...happy user of Lineone when Tiscali took over the service that they offered. At first I got a little mixed up & thought that World Online had taken over before I realised that Tiscali had taken over them too. Is this a good thing? I wondered, after all, it seemed that every good service provider had previously been taken over by World Online & now there's this new take-over merchant and......oh what the hell, it's not costing me more, let's see how ... ...while later, I heard that Tiscali had taken over the Lineone service.......no problem, it didn't mean much to me other than a different home page; then the monthly payment went up to £8.99 per month. At this point I must say that the price went up very quietly. For those who are not familiar with the Surftime package, the ISP charges generally show up on your phone bill, but in a typically BT confusing manner, so I wasn't sure if I was paying that ...

Advantages: Sometimes works, reasonable cheap Disadvantages: Technical support is just rubbish, slow, impossible to access, frequently disconnects, company mergers mess you about all the time, did I mention it was slow?
...Forget it. I swear that Tiscali monitor what you are doing, and seem to regard anything apart from looking at webpages as a waste of time. Downloads, gaming, shockwave, all are great times to be disconnected. Sometimes you can't even connect, because they frequently have trouble with their password servers, and e-mail is just a joke, regardless of what account address I put to download in Outlook, I still get my dad's e-mail.

Tiscali recently took over my previous ISP (the totally useless WorldOnline). They have also taken over LineOne and X-Stream too and maybe a few others. The range of services available under Tiscali is very good and I was given 3 options to choose from. Option 1 costs £5.99 per month and gives me 50 hrs free internet access both peak and off-peak. After 50 hrs there is a charge of 1p a minute online. Option 2 at £9.99 per month allows up to 100 hrs ... ...is WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE??? Recently, Tiscali charged me twice in the same month so I went on their website and sent a report to them to tell them this. Did I get a reply? Will England beat the Aussies at cricket? Can I find an ice cube in a blast furnace? You've got it, they did not reply so I noted down their email address and tried to send them an email. I waited for 2 weeks but still no reply. Tiscali offer several different levels of service as outlined below:
No Charge – 1p per minute.
£5.99 – 50 Free hours any time and then 1p a minute after this.
£9.99 – 100 Free hours any time and then 1p a minute after this.
£14.99 – Unlimited free hours.
This system of charging can be useful for those who use the Internet a lot but do not need to leave it on 24/7.
From a technical point of view ... ...quality.
Customer service from Tiscali can however be somewhat lacking. They often have queues on the telephone lines and are sometimes unable to answer questions. Also worthy of note is that if you need technical support it will cost you 50p a minute. Billing is accurate although sometimes delayed (there is a 1690 prefix on your dial-in number so Tiscali know how to bill you).
I would recommend Tiscali as I think they have a good service from ...

I have been with Tiscali from the start when they took over lineone.
But for the hassle of yet again advising all friends and contacts that I have again changed email I would leave them at a drop of a hat! The product is ok! It works quickly. You get on line fast most times. I am on braodband but dont leave it going all the time.
SO WHY DO I HAVE SUCH A DOWNER???
I was on their 10 speed broadband paying £27.99 per month when I saw an advert saying ... ...Computer active magazine saying that Tiscali were obstructing me in every way possible to get a cheaper service from the. I SENT A COPY TO TISCALI AND SAID THIS WILL GO THE COMPUTER ACTIVE IN ONE HOUR!
WELL. They rang me up 30 minutes later and said we dont want you to send it...and 1 hour later I had what i wanted, 5 speed broadband at £19.99 and my email intact!
TISCALI DO NOT DESERVE LOYAL CUSTOMERS!

...user for 2 years before Tiscali taken over the ISP and was with them for another 1 year Was paying for my ISP Service on my BT BILL and didn't have any problems with them. I was using ISDN at the time until I had word that ADSL was going into my aria about 2 years ago.
However I had to switch ISP for ADSL due I did not have a VISA/MasterCard to pay for ADSL so When ADSL was put in and ISDN taken out I had to find a new ISP Fast - I'm now with NDO ... ...Tiscali ended perfectly with me BT seen to it that my Service with Tiscali ended.
Late Nov 2003 had a Call from mom saying she just got a PC and wanted Internet access and wanted to know what ISP to go with, I recommended Dial-up: Tiscali - Evenings & Weekends - £12.95 per/m
Went over to there house to Set it all up for them and gave them a Basic run down how to use the PC & Internet

...of all you may think Tiscali are a reletively new ISP, well you'd be right, sort of. They are in fact the new parent company of Screaming.net, Worldonline, Lineone and a number of others.
They have a variety of superb services to choose from:
Tiscali Classic: pay as you go, no monthly fees.
Tiscali 50: £5.99 which gives you 50 free hours on the net
Tiscali 100: £9.99 which gives you 100 free hours on the net
Tiscali Unlimited: £14.99 which gives ... ...them disconnecting you.
The Tiscali home page, www.tiscali.co.uk, is one of the better Portals you can get. There's all sorts on there. You can check your e-mails via the web mail and you can even send up to 10 free SMS text messages a day via the site too!
All in all they offer a fantastic service, great connection speeds and never any problems getting connected. ...
