Advantages: Safer driving and you'll never get lost. Disadvantages: Seems a little pricey at first.
...Tap, tap, tap on the TomTom Go's screen with his index finger and he'd have been back in Bethlehem performing miraculous deeds before sunset!
: : : What does it do? : : : Let me tell you a little about the TomTom. It's a portable satellite navigation system, which means that as long as it's turned on and can see the sky it can pinpoint its position to within 1 square metre anywhere on the surface of the earth. Yes, anywhere. And if it's beside you ... ...you're on holiday. The TomTom turns the maps into realistic 3D images and displays them on screen, as though the road is spreading out in front of you. And the image keeps up with you as you move so you always know what's up ahead when you're driving.
If you select a destination with a tap, tap, tap by, say, picking a point on the screen map, entering a Post Code or choosing a pre-loaded Point of Interest like a tourist attraction a cinema or a ...

Since I got my Tom Tom I've been driving to places I never would normaly go, as the fear of getting loast would put me off.
With Tom Tom you can say good bye to getting lost. It is a clever little satelite navigation system with so much more to offer than just the route instructions.
Tom Tom 300 is a very clever litle device. It is small enough to fit into a palm of your hand and light enough to carry around in your bag (as you wouldn't want to ... ...holder that attaches to the windscreen, and as if by a mirracle it actually stays there. It has an amazing suction and it really stays put. If anything, you might have a little trouble peeling it off the windscreen when you want to take it off.
The screen is very nice size and easy to use. It uses tap tap technology and it is so simple. You can set your home destination, so where ever you are, all you have to do is tap on HOME buton and it will ...

...my second review of the tomtom go satalite navigation system after owning the tomtom go classic for about a year I was foolish enough to leave mine in my car for five seconds as I popped into work not knowing that the light fingered brigade had spotted my beloved tomtom go classic through my blacked out privacy glass in my mg and before I knew it I had a broken drivers side window and my tomtom had gone.
After getting my car fixed and numerous interviews ... ...waiting I realised that the tomtom was the best purchase I had ever made and I was lost with out it I mean lituary lost with out it ,Damn what a fool fancy leaving it in my car after kicking my self for a couple of weeks I had a reply from currys they had sent me vouchers for the sum of 430 pounds ,So off I rushed to my local currys where I found they had stopped making the tomtom classic and had new and improved versions the tomtom go 300,500,700 ...

Quick review of TomTom GO 300
Go 300 is easy to use but does make mistakes on some of the routes. If I had not used my common sense, on occasions I would be in the "back of beyond" as the 300 has misdirected me. I have had the product for 18 months now and it has started to play up - don't know if this is a software or hardware problem because it is virtually impossible to get through to Customer Support - the website takes me all around the place but is unable to give me customer support contact.
The Customer Support is virtualy non-existent. I have not come across a successful organisation like TomTom with such lousy customer support - really appalling. As a result of this, I would not buy another TomTom product. ...
Where do I start with this cute, loveable little creature? the truth is that there are so many good points to start in any paticular order, and are so few bad points.
Firstly I use my tom-tom ocasionaly mainly leasure purposes, but when I first got it last year, it was mainly used as an essential piece of equipment for my work, a car salesman. I used the tom tom to travel around other dealers and other places that relate to the motor trade, how ... ...is the way foreward certainly in my life!
Open the box, insert SD card, and switch on, first look at the tom-tom you will notice the only button on the machine is the power button everything else is touch screen, turn it on and once the machine has "found you", your ready to roll. Searching for a destination is quite easy, you can eather navigate to an address, point of interest which consists of McDonalds,Petrol stations (many of which have been ...

...is better to have this tomtom for sure, than be without it!
As requested i have decided to give some more information on how to use the Tomtom. For basic use, it is incredibly simple, using the touch screen, one just has to type in the town/city, followed by the street and finally the house no. or name. and it instantly calculates the route for you. You can then view the route your going to take as a map, or as a text list, or in diagrams, so you ... ...hard to accurately tell the tomtom which areas you want to avoid. Other features include tomtom traffic and bluetooth facilities. I haven't suceeded in getting this feature to work yet, but admittedly i haven't put much effort into it.
The satnav itself is attached to the windscreen simply with a suction pad, which can be locked into place so there is almost no risk of it falling off. It can then be easily adjusted into a suitable position for driver ...

I have had my TomTom GO 300 Sat Nav for exactly twelve months now and I wonder how I ever managed without it.

...the files on to the TomTom (then if its the first time you will need to enable the warning for the Point Of Interest e.g. each type of speed camera). This takes 5 mins and works.
You can save you own favorite locations, create your own specific routes using waypoint and save these to be reacalled.
You can change the voice to John Cleese, this is amusing but can get a little boring after the first few hours. I would like more funny comments.
I ... ...5.0 to 5.2. Both have been fine (this is suposed to improve the speed of calculating the route). I dont have a connection to the PLUS service because my Motorola E1000 on 3 is not supported. ...UPDATE - Sept 2006. The TomTom has been outstanding, and has far exceeded my expectations. Whilst it can take a few minutes to accquire satellite feeds after it has been switched on, it then goes on to perform with flying colours.

Advantages: Very easy to set up and use Disadvantages: Need a bluetooth phone to get up to date traffic info
I have wanted a GPS system for some time and finally decided to buy this model after various people told me it was good. It was really easy to set up and use. You just enter a postcode and away you go. If you don't have a postcode enter the address. Only problem with this is you cannot enter house names, only numbers so it won't take you exactly to your destination, but very close. We live in the country and it occasionally looses its signal but ... ...should you go wrong within seconds. Only downside that I can find is that on the box it looks like you can get up to date traffic info, etc using only the tom tom go unit but you do need a bluetooth enabled mobile phone for this to work and I don't have one! But still a fantastic buy, I haven't got lost since buying the unit. Gives me great confidence when out on my own in the car. It contects to the car by a suction pad on the windscreen and uses ...

Advantages: Never get lost again Disadvantages: Lack of customer service
I purchased a Tom Tom Go 300 from Dixons off the web 3 months ago. Took just 20 minutes going through the manual to play with the features and set up, then you are up and running. Very intuitive once you know what the icons on the touch screen do. Every feature you could ever want, the favourites let you remember a destination, but best set using the GPS position when you are there. Can search by postcode or address.
It will sometimes tell you to ... ...can alter this by setting 'go via'. Leave a route at any time and it will try to get you back on the same route, or 'recalculate' and it will come up with a revised route. Just head off in a different direction to miss traffic, and it will put you back on track.
Car kit is good, and it is just seconds to switch between vehicles.
