Mine is a good experience going rapidly bad. I purchased a TomTom 510 with GB map in 2006 and was quite happy with that, but I really needed the GB and Ireland map which I bought recently. If you plan on touring in Ireland DO NOT DEPEND ON THE TOMTOM MAPS.
I live in County Mayo and according to my P.O.I.s there is no hotel within 39 miles and the only "restaurant" within the same distance is a McD. The spelling of names of filling stations etc. is often incorrect, and I would consider some of the given distances suspect.
The omisssion of many well known Dublin hotels cofirms my view that this map is best avoided until it is radically updated. ...

Advantages: 1000's of POI's, detailed map Disadvantages: Out of date, no updates, some roads not there, lack of customer support
I am going to be brutally honest - Tom Tom is the leading company when it comes to GPS car navigation. The fact that they are one of the best would suggest that customer support is also good - this is not the case. Any problems that a customer has are irrelevant to Tom Tom. My map is out of date (at times I will be on the motorway, and the map tells me I'm in a field an that I should turn down cowgate lane!
Aside from the problems with the company, ... ...maps. The only option is to purchase a completely new map - even with this, you still don't know whether certain roads have been updated!
Do not get me wrong, I am happy using the Tom Tom - and the Great Britain map which provides 1000's of Points of Interest (fuel stations, hotels etc.) and is comprehensive throughout the UK.
It is worth checking how up to date your current map is before purchasing this one.

Advantages: Simple, intuative, and does the job very well. Disadvantages: Cannot think of any.
In my opiniion. A very very good and extreemly easy to use product, and a testament of how fast technology has come along, extreemly accurate and a wide range of features enough to satisfy the most hungry of tech hunters. Touch screen interface so no need to mess arount with keyboards.Everything from something as simple as preforming a full postcode search to finding the nearest fast food joint and various other points of interest. Hello. We bought one as we needed to drive from Spain to Portugal in the summer. It worked fine in the UK, being easy to use and not letting us down. However in Spain to get it to work we had to reboot the satelite finder every time we switched it on, just to to get the map on. Then after doing that pathetic and tedious thing it would ask us to make a U turn on a mortorway or try and send us down one way streets the wrong way. As well as this it ... ...at a gate in the middle of a farmers field, miles from where we were meant to be.
This wasnt because we diddnt have the correct map software on the Tom Tom we payed extra for that. It was just a joke.
Also contacting customer support was just a joke.
DONT GET ONE IF YOU PLAN TO USE IT ABROAD!!! ...
