Advantages: voice guidance!, easy to use, portable, congestion charge aware
Disadvantages: only navigates via roads, so no going thru parks., maps are about a year out of date, cost of aditional maps

...the spec: I am running Tomtom 3 on an Ipaq 36xx series with a dual CF slot jacket with a Pretec GPS card and and a 256MB CF card. This was the hardware I was using from navigator 2. Advantages: nice 3D view giving a good rendering of the route ahead, large third party support.
Disadvantages: No way to update maps, Points of interest management limitations

Advantages: Lots of programs that can be used to update poi's
Disadvantages: sometimes hangs no way of personaly updateing maps

I have had my tomtom 3 bluetooth for about 1year now and is the perfect companion to my ipaq4150 i wouldnt be without it now. Simple to use just turn it on and click the navigater program on your ipaq and it'll link up with the gps. Plenty of good apps out there for addons to tomtom navigator like postcode finder and poi update with a net database so you can download new poi's and import them into navigator.
