    My partner already had a Tom Tom Go, but sometimes we both needed help. He travels all round the country and recently had to plan routes for a new car launch from many dealer locations in the South East, with a Tom Tom he was able to plan the routes to perfection, detailing mileage, junctions, even speed traps. The Tom Tom One is very small and compact, and can even be used when walking, especially around large towns.     I have been using the Tom Tom One for over 12 months now, so do consider myself an expert on this particular piece of kit! Why did I buy it in the first place - that bit is easy, I travel a lot in a new job and to towns I would have never heard of before - on top of that I had some fantastic inside information that I will share with you. A friend of mine is in the car lease business - everything from Ford to Ferrari! Obviously most of the high end vehicles have built in sat nav. As he delivers cars to their owners all over the country he has used them all, so he is the real expert. Guess what ... more

    On buying my Tomtom one i was very excited and also a little disapointed with the size of the box, i purchased a TomTom one v4 europe with traffic updates. The set up was very simple no CD to mess about with and put in my "Man Draw" never to be seen again all the software for your pc is on the unit itself just plug the usb lead in and away you go. The new easy mount part is truly rubbish you click the unit into it and unless you get this right it will pop out, now bearing in ming you will be doing this on a windscreen of a car and if you have a car like mine a Ford Galaxy the windscreen is a ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages loss of signal, lack of POIs, marks many roads unknown

    I recently tried to use this Sat Nav system whilst on holiday in the Algarve, Portugal. NOT ONCE did it find us where we wanted to go. Problems we had: 1. Most roads, even the main road between PT and spain where marked as unknown. 2. often drove us to the middle of a construction site and said there was a beach there. 3. continuously fell off the windscreen 4. Sometimes lost satellite signal at the most critical time for up to 10 minutes. However, now realizing its low price it is probably understandable. Maybe in the UK, this system works better but it is certainly a TERRIBLE system to use ... more

    I have owned my Tom Tom for nearly two years now, and use it most days for work. The system is really easy to use thanks to a touch screen menu system, using symbols as well as descriptions for the main menu options, and it is really easy to program and set up with your own details. For the most part, the mapping is accurate and gets you to where you want to be, but as with all sat nav's a degree of common sense is required, and you should never take all of the instructions too literally!     I'm a fanatic when it comes to my gadgets, GPS was mandatory without a doubt in my life. Noticing the wide range of GPS devices on the consumers market is rather daunting to some who don't have a foggiest about gadgets. However, having knowledge I wasn't going to invest allot of money in a GPS device as all I needed the device for was to get me from A to B and to toy around with, and that's all really.     Slightly better than the ONE XL and GO but again full of useless features, Please tomtom get back to basics. Learn from the Germans, try a Grundig nav 100 for a few days and you would remember why the sat nav was invented. Its to take you to your destination 100% of the time, not to play your movies, MP3 and so on and on..... I like the size of this unit, had it for 3 weeks and took me to the wrong destination twice!! that just is not good enough when you're business involves a great deal of driving around.

    I purchased the TomTom ONE Europe as a gift to my partner before Christmas. We decided to go for the Europe version as I have friends in Italy and we like to go to France so we wanted to be able to take it with us. I decided to go for the TomTom as I had borrowed my sisters and liked the way it was very easy to use. As soon as we got it out of the box all we had to do is plug it in and we were up and running.
