Advantages Advantages Great for newbies, improved engine, graphics, AI etc

Disadvantages Disadvantages seen it all before, poor 3rd person perspective, no real NEW challenge

For those new guys & girls on the block who have only just entered the Tomb Raider cult franchise then this game is the best of the whole Lara Croft Series. The game is vast with an improved games engine, better rendering of sound & graphics; improved "feel" or atmosphere within the game's settings and a much more controllable & flexible Lara Croft. Other improvements include better weaponary, wide choice of exciting vehicles to try out, including quad-bikes, canoes and dinghies. Even some of her enemies are bestowed with artificial intelligence, so aren't quite so easy to shoot down & kill as ... more

Advantages Advantages Better looking, sounding and running and only cost a tenner!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Super hard puzzles and loads of shooting

I played and nearly completed Tomb Raider I played and never got near the finish of Tomb Raider 2 This is mainly because I get bored quickly with games that don't hold my interest..and watching my ex-girlfriends brother whip through both the above killed my interest in completing them myself. So, in the recent Boxing Day sales I noticed that Tomb Raider 3 was a tenner and The Last Revelation was £12..so I couldn't help myself! I am only up to the London level and I can tell you right now that this is one hardened ball of Lara Croft gaming. The first one flowed nicely, puzzles were never over ... more

    Advantages Advantages Everything

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Nothing

Tomb Raider 3 is superb in every possible way. It has been updated a lot from the previous installments. I have have got Tomb Raider and have played the demo for the sequel and the leap is incredable. First of all Lara is looking better than ever with smoother graphics slicker animation and new move. She gets new outfits depending on missions and if you jump in the fire in her house you even go on fire! The bad guys are even better than before not only can you kill a wide amount of animals like tigers, snakes and vultures but you get to shoot humans as well which may seem sadistic but adds ... more

Being a tomb raider fan, this is my third opinion and i will be writing one for each of the games. I was very excited about this one when it came out since i had recieved a free demo of half of level one and it looked like a good start. I liked the concept of traveling to different areas in the world to complete different sections of the mission. Some of the badies in this one are particulaly tough, and the new added feature of swimming in freezing water make this different. However the complexity of puzzles was greatly reduced. I am a tomb raider fan because of the puzzles and not for the ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of hours of gameplay

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Tomb Raider 3 is obviously the third game in the series featuring Lara Croft. This game came out in 1998 and the graphics are so much better than the first two. The images of Lara her self are much more rounded and pleasing to the eye and the decorations in the background of the scenes in the game are really good. The game play covers a much bigger area so there are lots of places to explore and sometimes you find goodies hidden around the place where you wouldn't think of looking. I have the game for the Play Station 1 so this is what I am reviewing. The save games are back to the blue ... more

Advantages Advantages Lara Croft, what more can I say?

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you've already got TR1 and TR2, you might go straight to TLR.

We expect a lot from Core nowadays with their Tomb Raider series, and the 3rd installment introduces some new areas to locate in Lara's mantion, as well as new vehicles and equipment. But that, plus a few extra shimmies and shakes built into Lara herself and a few more interesting weapons, is it, really. The locations are slightly larger, the puzzles just as good, and this is the only one of the 4 TR games that I actually got slightly bored with, done it all before you see. The plot doesn't really develop Lara's character any further than the previous games, but I think I'm just being too ... more

    Advantages Advantages improved grapics,and surroundings

Disadvantages Disadvantages for many,,its her clothes

Eidos Interactive have done it again. Laramania hits playstation with another 2...3 bangs. Yes Tomb Raider 3 deserves just a little more attention than number 2. Lara, the curvaceous hero and so-called tomb raider now stars in her third edition with some improvements. The most significant additions to TR3 (TOMB RAIDER 3) are aesthetic. The lighting effects are more dramatic, while both Lara and the game's eight adventures benefit from higher resolution graphics with rippling water, leaves blowing across the floor, and Lara herself looking...well, rounder. The game opens with five linked stages ... more

    Advantages Advantages Graphics and Playability

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Music

I'm a Tomb Raider virgin. I've never played any Tomb Raiders before I tried Tomb Raider III for the Playstation. What was my verdict? Mixed. I was mightily impressed by the Graphics and the ingeniousness of the scenarios. Lara's house is a nice touch. All of the settings are well presented and Lara herself looks tremendous. However, I found that many of the levels were impossible to complete without the help of Cheats and Walkthrus which I discovered online. Sometimes I felt that TR III was less of a game and more like a addictive computerised punishment. This was worsened by the Save Game ... more

    Advantages Advantages Graphically an improvement

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Very, very hard

This is the without a doubt, in my opinion, the best tomb raider so far. The graphics are very good ,improving on TRII and the movement of Lara has been much improved also. The game is very hard, if you haven't played any of the Tomb Raiders before I suggest you do to get a feel for the game before trying this. I dont know anyone who completed it without some help from the walkthrough. Because of this it's not as much fun as the 2 previous TombRaiders. The selection of weapons is good (even though it takes around 15 shots of the pistols to kill someone) but there are not enough enemies to use ... more

Advantages Advantages Now have alternative routes, challenging puzzles, you choose route, better guns, graphics, FMVs, AI

Disadvantages Disadvantages Harder than the other two - annoying if you're new to the series

Lara has done it again, she's made her way onto the big video-gaming screens once again. But does she live up to her predecessors? OF COURSE SHE DOES, SHE'S LARA!!!! Graphicwise, Tomb Raider III is great. It's better than the previous two because now, the land can be divided into triangles, as opposed to square blocks in the previoius games (hard to explain in words, but basically the game looks more organic). The game is alot more challenging. Not only are Lara's enemies packed with a great new AI system, but the puzzles are baffling, and sometimes make you want to bust her pixels. But that ... more
