A great little beaker

Advantages: light weight, colourful, free flowing
Disadvantages: hard to clean spout!

...different beakers. I chose Tommee Tippee first cup because it was a name I knew I could trust but also because it was suitable from 4months whereas a lot of the others were from 6 months. The beakers come in different colours and some have little pictures on which I think makes them nice and appealing compared to a see-through bottle! If you're trying to persuade your baby to become interested in a beaker instead of a bottle then it's useful to ...
...this process. The beaker is slightly see-through so you can see how much liquid is inside. There are marks on the side too so you can fill it with as much oz or mls as you need and you will be able to see how much you have put in and how much baby has drank. The handles are on boths sides and are a nice size suitable for a little person's hands. The lid snaps on which is good, so often they are screw on lids which can be fiddly to do or you can ...

...but I've looked on the Tommee Tippee website and they do 4 for £6, and you'll probably need 4 so it's still good value (although a little bit more than 99p!) My daughter was a bit unsure about this cup when I first offered it to her, but after a couple of months (yes that long!) she was eventually drinking water confidently from a cup! I'm glad I started early with trying her with because she didn't actually need water at that time because I was ...

Once I started weaning her off the breast and onto formula, I used these cups (I now had about 4 or 5 in my possession) for her milk and she had no problems with taking the formula and so I just used to prepare it all in the morning, place the cups in the fridge ready made with the formula and take them out as needed. They can also be microwaved and this is how I used warm up ...

Drinking Fun!

Advantages: cheap and brilliant first beaker
Disadvantages: can leak

Tommee Tippee First Beaker 4months+ After starting Jack off on some pureeed food i thought i would give it a go offering him some juice. I had been pretty unsucessful up until now offering him water in his usual milk bottle and often got the look as if he was thinking - "This isnt milk what a poor substitute!2 Then he would screakm and scream for a proper drink such as milk! This is especially difficult as Jack seems to get the hiccoughs very often ...
...shop round i found this Tommee Tippee beaker to be the next one that would be perhaps a little more suitable. Not only was is cheap at 99pence from Tesco it looked rather snazzy too. It comes in a variety of colours but they were out of blue at the time and we are now stuck with a somewhat girly orange colour. None the less Jack seems to be able to get the hang of usuing it without any trouble. It unfortunatley does not have a non-spill cap and ...

...cup I eventually found the Tommee Tippee First Cup, I spied the cup in Asda and to be honest I was initially attracted by the price, just 99p. I thought I couldn't go wrong with something at this price and I was totally correct, this is the best baby cup I have bought, I just wish I had discovered it with my older children. The cup is a very simple design, it has no sealing disc or special valve to stop the liquid leaking. The Tommee Tippee cup has ...
...down the spout and this prevents the liquid spilling, easy for carrying. The spout is free flowing which basically means that the baby does not have to suck hard to get the liquid out, more like drinking from a cup than a bottle. The spout has 2 holes in the top which allow a good even flow of liquid. The cup has very good handles, they are not too thick but are big enough for little hands to get a really good grip, and the handles just seem to ...

belting beaker for babies!

...beaker. We tried a tommee tippee explorer beaker which looked very complicated with it's valve inside and it had to be taken apart and each time bit sterilised each time. We thought it looked great and scientific with the valve so it must be good... sadly it wasn't. Baby B was not impressed with it and couldn't seem to get used to it and it was just fiddly messing around with putting the valve back on each time so we decided to go for another type. ...
...saw that this 'first cup' was recommended from four months and so thought it must be more 'little baby friendly'. It cost us £1.50 which is a bargain considering that Baby B's bottles are £5 each. The beaker has two nice thin handles on each side so it is ideal for baby's small hands. Baby B is able to get a good grip on them and likes to have control over the cup so these are great little handles. The lid snaps on really easily, you don't have ...

superb basic first drinking cup

Advantages: cheap, range of colours, easy to hold, easy to clean
Disadvantages: none

I bought one of these for my son when he was about 4 months old, like many babies that have been almost exclusively breastfed, there comes a time when you need them to learn to drink a bit of water etc with meals when they are being weaned. I bought this initially beause of the good price and nice bright colours, the first one I bought was blue with a bright green lid and my son took to it straight away. I use it for cooled boiled water and occasionaly ...
...in a different way. He seems to find the handles nice and easy to hold, there is generous space for him to get his hands around the handles and because the cup is quite short and stout he can get it at a good angle with his mouth reasonably easily. Because of the design, there is always a small amount of liquid which my son cannot quite get to as he cant hold the cup up high enough to drink it, but I think that is more to do with his age and ability ...

great cup!

Advantages: easy!
Disadvantages: may spill!

I really like this little beaker! Both my nephew and my baby use these and they both got the hang of them really early on and with such ease! Babies need to learn to drink out of mugs and cups instead of just from a bottle. It's important they learn how to drink without just sucking at a teet and I tried alsorts of beakers to try to get my baby and nephew to learn this skill and none of them seemed to work. They both would choke a lot or just pushed ...
...one and it's been the best we've had! It's easy to use, you just fill it up and snap on the lid. The spout can fold back to prevent leaks although it isn't fool proof and my bag is often damp in the bottom or my car keys covered in juice so be warned! I wrap it in a muslin cloth now when I put it in my bag-good tip there! I clean it how I would clean a bottle- by washing it in hot soapy water and then popping it in my steriliser. My baby and nephew ...

I can do it myself now mum

Advantages: No wet patches on clothes
Disadvantages: none that i can think of

This is a good first beaker for your baby to use when transferring from the bottle to a cup as it has two large handles, one at either side of the cup so little hands can easily hold it themselves. The actual cup holds around 100ml of liquid and can be used for milk, juice, water etc. The drinking spout is quite hard and has 3 holes in the tip that the liquid comes out of. The spout fits back into the lid so is neat to pack in your bag and has never ...
...times now that she is getting teeth but it has held up quite well under the abuse. I find that when my daughter drinks from these that there are no wet patches from it dripping which is a good thing. The lid is a good fit and is easy to take off and on by an adult but hard for a child. It is available in many different colours, i chose a purple one and a green one as they went well with most of my daughters outfits and i like to match where i can. ...

"But there's still milk in here mummy"

Advantages: Easy to clean, easy to use
Disadvantages: Can't get all the drink out, fairly fast flowing.

Pretty much every child has had one of these at some stage so when my daughter came to want a cup rather than a bottle I thought I'd give it a go. Although it is easy to drink from for babies as it has only one hole I actually found I didn't like it and stopped using it soon after buying it. There were 2 reasons for not liking it. The first was because it actually flowed a little too fast for my daughter as she needs a slow flowing drink else she ...
...is on a special milk and needs to drink a certain amount each day, but there was always quite a large amount of water left at the bottom of the cup when she'd finished that she was unable to get out. These cups are available at most shops that sell baby/toddler equipment. I got mine from asda for about £1 which is fantastic value. They are easy to wash and are even dishwasher safe. There is no valve in them which for milk is great as it means the ...

A great cheap first cup!

Advantages: Easy for babies to use, free flow spout, cheap
Disadvantages: None

I have spent a small fortune in trying to find a cup that my son was able to drink out of. So called easiflow cups were dreadful, he just couldn't get any liquid out. Then I spotted this gem when I was doing my weekly shop in Tesco's. *Product* The cup is called a first cup and is suitable for 4 months old and above. It has 2 generously sized handles, which are great for little hands to get a hold of. The spout is a flip spout, and has a small ...
...can also put the spout up and down himself, meaning it is nice and easy to use, but it doesn't just open by itself, meaning that you wont get any spills. It is also called a freeflow cup as there is nothing stopping the liquid flowing, which is why I think my son found it easier to use this cup. The beaker holds around 100ml of liquid, and has dilution level lines which is useful if you are making squash for your baby, as you won't make it too strong. ...

A good first cup.

Advantages: Easy for tiny hands to hold.
Disadvantages: Leaks sometimes when out and about.

This cup is a very good first cup, I found that from as young as 4 months of age my daughter found it easy to hold the cup and drink from it with very little help from me. As a breastfed baby, Elise finds bottles hard to get used to but she drinks from this cup with ease. The only thing I will say against the product is that I have found when I have taken it in the pram bag it has leaked a little on a couple of occasions. The product is very inexpensive, ...
...expect to pay a little bit more from places like Boots or Mothercare. I have steam sterilised my cup numerous times and it is still going strong. I think it is dishwsher and microwave safe but I do not own a dishwasher so you would have to check on this. ...
