We bought the Tomy Freestyle for use with our first child two years ago. It's a front carrier that takes a baby from birth to around 9 months. It cost me around £30 from Mothercare. Advantages: You can carry your baby facing you or facing outwards in total comfort.
Disadvantages: None that I can think of.

I bought one of these for my first baby, it was a god send, you can carry your baby in 2 positions - facing you or facing outwards. I found facing them towards you when they are small is better as they cant see much from birth anyway. As they get older they can see better so changing the position means they can see where they are going. We thought that one of these would come in very handy when our little one arrived, however this carrier was a nightmare to use, we have the click and go version. Firstly it is so difficult to adjust, after only 5mins of wear the adult part digs into the back of your neck, the waist part rides up too high.
