    We have a Tomy Soft Safety Barrier. The main barrier is made from a nylon mesh which is strong, but still lets my daughter see through it. The barrier folds into a reasonable compact package and in theory this makes it good for travelling. The downside with this is that it needs wall cups to be screwed to the wall to be really secure. If you need more of these, then its cheapest to buy castor cups. These are cheap, although you might have to shop around to find some that aren't brown bakelite.     I think this is the best safety gate around. I got mine when my son was 9 months old and still use it now and he is 4 years now.The gate is made of a see through mesh not the vertical metal bars like others and that was the main reason I bought it I thought that he would not be able to get himself stuck in it by trying to climb through it. Also it is able to fold down and go into a bag for easy transportation. Unfortunatly you have to take it down every time you want to go through it(unless you climb over it).
