Advantages: Robust, powerful, functionally superior to the competition. All you could ask for from a tablet pc. Disadvantages: Can get hot, but nothing to worry about, battery life shorter than with other models (3.5hrs), heavier than the competition making it awkward for the true mobile user.

Of all the tablet PC's currently on the market the Toshiba Portégé 3500 has the best performance of all the systems because it uses the Intel Pentium III-M 1.33 GHz processor and a fast hard drive. Perhaps as a consequence of the faster processor, the Toshiba is also ... ...the other Tablet PCs, the Toshiba is a "hybrid" configuration that does not separate the display and processor from the keyboard as the slate and convertible configurations do. The hinge rotates between notebook and tablet modes. The operating system detects the change in orientation and automatically adjusts the screen, rotating from portrait to landscape mode or vice versa.
The Toshiba model is a bit heavier and not quite as comfortable to use ...

Advantages: All the advantages of a Laptop with the features of a Tablet PC. Disadvantages: No internal CD Rom or Floppy Drive.
I got given a portege early last week as it's previous owner managed to scramble the hard disk. This is where the disadvantage of no CD-Rom or Floppy Drive comes it. To utilise the recovery CD I had to remove the Hard Drive and mount it in another PC as the only CD-Rom drive you can boot from costs over £300!
That aside, the PC itself is very, very slick. The keyboard is full sized, and has a nice tactile feedback. There are various (programmable) ... ...screen. The boot-up speed into Windows XP Tablet Edition is very fast, and is a reflection of the high-quality 2.5" IBM Hard Disk, sized at a very reasonable 40Gb. My portege has 512Mb of RAM, although I understand that you can get it with varying levels. In addition to the normal features you expect from a laptop, the LCD screen twists through 180 degrees and locks flat over the keyboard. This enables you to use the device as a true tablet PC.
