Advantages: Sturdy design Nice Blue colour Get a lot for your money Disadvantages: Overheating/crashing problems experienced Memory upgrade was necessary Required a lot of tweaking to get 'right'
The Toshiba Satellite Pro A60 laptop is ideal for entry level home users, and possibly students who have some time on their hands to sort stuff out. I wouldn't say it was suitable for the lower end of the business market, as Toshiba seem to be targeting with this product. I could be wrong however, maybe I was just unlucky!
I have had mine for 8 months now, after previous satellite old faithful, which I had owned for about 7 years, gave up the ghost ... ...Upgrade your BIOS from the Toshiba site. They are reporting that a version of 1.7 or older will cause the overheating. However, I had 1.7 and found upgrading to 1.9 really helped to overcome the problem.
4. If the above fails, invest in some more memory, your Tosh will thank you for it.
I was a bit disappointed as there was no XP CD, just a 'recovery disk', but I guess this is the way they all operate these days.
Overall, I probably wouldn't go ...

Advantages: Attractive, good value, easy to use. Disadvantages: Battery life, tendancy to freeze for short moments.
I got this lap top for recreational purposes and to help me with my uni work- for that it's great. It's quick, up-to-date and easy to use- working in the same way as a PC for the most part. It's easily portable in a laptop case and looks very slimlined. The speakers are of better quality than those on a lot of the laptops I've seen and play fairly loudly if you want them to.
My main problem is that it has a tendancy to either time out the internet; ... ...completely if it overheats. In my experience, you have to have been using the laptop for a while before it overheats- probably about 6hours so it does not become an issue very often for what I use it for, but may be a bigger problem for those who would use the laptop for extended periods of time.
Another issue I have is that after being put on standby mode for any length of time it has a tendancy to be a bit sluggish. When I come back to the computer ...

Advantages: Excellent performance at an affordable price Disadvantages: Extra memory required, poor battery life, overheats easily
I bought the Toshiba Satellite A60 Pro through Misco around eighteen months ago and have found it to be a sturdy, good performing all round laptop. While it is by no means spectacular, for the price at the time of buying it would be hard to find anything better.
It is available in 14.1 or 15 inch screens (I went for the 14.1in to aid with portability). It isn't the lightest laptop in the world but it is sturdy and after many days of carrying it ... ...any breakdowns.
It comes with a whopping 2.8Ghz processor but the downside to this is that it overheats incredibly quickly. I found that if the fan on the underside was resting on my leg with no escape route for the air, then within about 10-15 minutes, the computer would switch itself off without warning and couldn't be switched on for a few minutes until it cooled down.
Another downside is the lack of memory (only 256mb) meaning it's necessary ...
