    5 Stars What a laptop! 28/09/2005

    Advantages Advantages Cheap and Reliable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Wireless connection not great

The Toshiba L10 is one of the best budget laptops around, and for the price you pay, it offers so much to keep you busy. The Toshiba L10 features an Intel Celeron M 360 1.4 GHz processor (400 MHz data bus) which can be upgraded to a faster Intel Celeron M 370 1.5 GHz should you choose to do so. I doubt you'd notice all that difference in speed and across the e-shops I've browsed there seems to be little difference price-wise between the 1.4 GHz and the 1.5 GHz models. The notebook usually ships with either 256mb or 512mb ram, with about £30 difference in price between the two models. I opted ... more

Advantages Advantages great price, durable, great base system

Disadvantages Disadvantages keyboard unreliable , sound quality poor

Right so where do I start, last August I was asked if I would like to study for a diploma with work. Now being a father of four I didn't relish the idea of having paperwork lying around and finding it had been used to make a hat or a modern art painting, so I decided to invest in a laptop to do my work, also I was told that the final exams could be done on computer and this made sense to me. So I hot footed to my local independent computer retailer and asked them what they stocked and what they recomeneded, being a small shop they only stock good quality affordable laptops and the one ... more

Advantages Advantages Fairly Cheap, stylish and looks good

Disadvantages Disadvantages Battery life not amazing

I purchased my laptop about 3 months ago and have found it a real delight. This was my first laptop and I think I have chosen something amazing, I chose a Toshbia over the Acers and other similar brands in the price range (excluding the lower spec laptops that have been rebranded). All normal capabilites are included, wireless internet (built in), 3 USB connections, ethernet, modem and media player buttons which prove very useful (Back, Forwards, Play/Pause, Stop, respectivly). I cannot at this time think of any disadvantages, it may be worth mentioning a broken "[[[[[[" key, where under keys ... more

Advantages Advantages Build quality, easy to use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages 256MB RAM

Bought for £500 no less than 2 weeks ago, so I wasnt expecting anything special. Its not special, It is just a standard laptop of average specifications and usual features. It has wireless internet, nice clear screen, very reliable and its solidly built. That was all I wanted afterall. Unlike laptops which my mates have had it has never dis-connected from the internet, even used up the garden about 40 feet away. This I am very impressed with. Windows XP home is the operating system pre-installed and a very easy to use OS it is too. The laptop comes with a re-formatting disc should anything ... more

Advantages Advantages Robust yet portable, good design, sharp screen

Disadvantages Disadvantages Built in speakers are poor

This laptop represents excellent value for a machine with built-in wireless facilities. The Intel Celeron M processor provides a good performance but like all modern laptops it does get hot. The DVD/CDRW feels a bit flimsy when opened and care should be taken to ensure that it does not get broken when the laptop is not on a flat/solid surface. The Screen display is crisp and clear. Comes with MS Windows XP Pro which is an excellent operating system. I bought this laptop primarily because I wanted to replace my desktop PC but now want to use it anywhere in the house and have access to the ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice looking, well built laptop!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not as good as its competitors

Ive had my laptop for 2 weeks now to help with my open university studying, and to be completely honest with you, I got what I paid for. Friends of mine spent a few hundred quid more than I did a got amazing machines. For the £600 I spent, I did get what I paid for: * 1.4 GHz Processor * 40 Gb Hard Drive * 256 Mb RAM * CDRW/DVD Drive * Integrated Wireless (not impressive!) * 15 in screen * And a few other bits and bobs The machine itself runs well and does what I want it to do - word processing, but for the more modern games I'd advise you to get a better machine, as this one is a bit slow. My ... more

Advantages Advantages fast speed, nice looking,

Disadvantages Disadvantages its just im not allowed to take it out of the house

this lap top is the best my dads ever had from work, its got every thing i need, windows xp, dvd player, a nice amout of ram 256mb the battery isnt the best with roughly 3 hours on it, but cos i cant take it out of the house its perfect, the processor speed is nice i think its roughly 1.5 which is lovely, the color of the lap is nice, mine is silver on the inside, and black on the out side with some silver, this lap top beats all, the advantages of this lap top is downloads are made much quicker, the software and the OS is easy for everyone to use, i love the speed it gets when its on the net ... more

    Advantages Advantages Wireless internet

    Disadvantages Disadvantages heavy

I purchased this from the online store of a well known pc retailer for £100 less than it shows on here, and at the moment i've been nothing but satisfied. It works like a dream, and will run any programs i have tried on it. It's perfect for my university work, and of course the added bonus is the wireless internet, the usefulness of this i cannot even begin to profess. As the other reviewer stated, the internal speakers aren't great, but they're acceptable, and laptop speakers never are in my experience all that good, but for the price, this really is the best you can buy. It's the typical ... more

Advantages Advantages GREAT SLEEK DESIGN + REASONABLE PERFORMANCE + GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY

Disadvantages Disadvantages BATTERY LIFE COULD BE BETTER!!!!

GREAT LAPTOP, IN THE WAY IT LOOKS WITH IT'S SLEEK DESIGN, AND QUALITY FEEL, EASE OF USE AND PERFORMANCE. AS STANDARD MEMORY IT HAS 512 MB OF RAM WHICH CAN BE EXPANDED TO 1024 MB IF NEEDED. PERFORMANCE CAN BE A LITTLE SLOW AT TIMES, BUT THAT IS ONLY DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF PROGRAMS YOU USE AT THE SAME TIME. BATTERY LIFE IS REASONABLE, ONLY LASTING 3 HOURS MAXIMUM, BUT IT IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR PORTABILITY. THE CLOCK SPEED IS REASONABLE ENOUGH WITH 1.5 GHZ, ALSO THE HARD DISK IS A LIITLE SMALL AT 40GB BUT THERE ARE OTHER TOSHIBA SATELLITE PRO L10'S WITH LARGER HARD DISKS, BUT IS GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY ... more
