I joined Totalise the day it began after getting tired of failed connects I had previously experienced with Freeserve.
After 18 months with them I have very rarely encountered an engaged tone and have always got fast downloads with them.
There was an occasion when my housemate knackered my computer's settings by deleting some of Windows' system files because he didn't know what they did - I managed to get things up and running again, but could ... ...Many people have joined Totalise for the free company share allocations. I sold my first tranche at 95p in February 1999 for £385. This more than covers my phone charges. I only really sold them to cure my sceptism! I have now amassed over 1500 shares, and although they are worth significantly less than 95p I am confident that they will go up again.
Totalise have built up a number of businesses and have a contract with Direct Line to supply cars ...

Advantages: Quick responses from technical support via email. Disadvantages: Frustrating when trying to download large files.

Firstly, I am an experienced IT professional manager and have dealt with the internet over many years. Totalise seems to be the best ISP offering that I have come across. I have signed up to the unlimited access which I paid £240 for 2 years worth of access. Whilst this alone seems a reasonable price, i.e. £20 per month for unlimited access, I also received shares in the company which ... ...Totalise that I invested a large sum of my own money when they floated on the AIM in purchasing shares.
Services that I frequently use are Totalise Telecom which I have added my main home ohone through & Flowers2send which is a door-to-door flower offering.
Real advantages come with the email service. When I am at work we have a complete block on employees accessing their home email services. Totalise allows you to call Speechmail and a computer ...

...was recommended to switch to Totalise from my original ISP (Demon), which was slow and unreliable due to oversubscription.
It was one of the best recommendations I've ever received.
I was attracted by the fact that you effectively get money back for using something you would have used anyway. This is through Totalise issuing you with shares in the company, just by using it as your ISP portal. These shares, unlike most other promises on the internet, ... ...apparently.
I still use Totalise as my ISP, and will continue to use it, as the doling out of free shares give me an incentive to use it, plus I have absolutely no complaints about them - their service is excellent.
They also give you free technical support by telephone - 0800 number - if you get completely stuck (which is very rare)
Totalise seem to be bringing out an ever increasing portfolio of products.

I will probably get completely hammered for posting this opinion and lose hundreds of those hard earned Ciao points - what the hell, the farce that is Totalise needs telling.
As an ISP Totalise are OK. I think their e-mail system is fairly nifty, certainly compared to the likes of Hotmail, performance wise it leaves them for dead. Especially since the latest server upgrade.
Their home page is a little ... ...couple of days!.
When Totalise launched their service it was a new idea, get an account and use it and you earn shares in the company - great. No-one expected to get rich from it, but nor did they expect the unscrupulous management to fold the company with no notice and at a time when they were heading for profitability. True they were running out of cash, but also true, money was being generated from wholly owned operations like flowes2send, Eurekar, ...

Advantages: free shares, free email, and wide a range of features: Eureka, Totalise shop etc. Disadvantages: Shares are very small; 25p for ordinary shares but otherwise, a great ISP.
Totalise is probably the best free ISP on the net. A friend of mine referred me to Totalise about two years ago and I have been a member for a year now. The most striking thing about Totalise is that they offer free shares, which work out as 25p for ordinary shares. Every three months, Totalise send a statement, which includes added shares, removed shares, and your current holding balance. totalise has a gennuine mutuality basic. you surf and it pays you back in shares which are traded in ofex at the moment. there are moves to transfer to aim in the fairly near future which should give it much more exposure to traders. the service is not bad as well, quick connection and surfing between web sites even at peak times, i use bt for evening/weekend thru their cheap package but always use totalise at all other times and believe they are ...

Totalise has to be one of the best ISP around at the moment. The free shares issued have given me roughly £800 in the past 12 months and in returm all I have to do is run up a phone bill. The Portal is excellent and the email service is second to none. Other services include desktop lawyer, car importing and their own telephone services. All in all very good.
The only thing that worries me is the development of their new unlimited surfing arrangement ... ...company goes leaving customers with no connection and useless shares. A slight worry
I do hope totalise continue to go from strength to strength and don't fall by the wayside in the way that others will the moment a completely free ISP arrives, which doesn't look too far off now ...

Totalise offer shares in the company, cheaper telephone calls and soon, unmetered access.
They are a company listed on the OFEX market, where their shares are openly traded. By signing up with them you will receive an allocation of these shares. You will receive more according to how much time you spend on line, for using them as your main email provider and for referring other users (so if you so sign up, tell them jamesrichardson@totalise.co.uk ... ...a telecoms company providing cheaper calls which are available by first dialing a code to access their service. They will soon be offering unmetered internet access through this telecoms service. totalise is a free isp that offers tradable shares in the company.i have been with totalise since october 99 and any problem i have had over this time the free technical support team have helped with.i do not think that you can find any faults with them and will be using them for a long time to come.
they also offer thier own telecom service where your calls with bt will be cheaper but you do not have to use this service like other isp's.they will ...

...I would have said that Totalise were a top ISP but due the problems I have had with them since then my view has dramatically changed.
I have been off work sick since before Christmas and have the Ultimate Surf package, 100 hours a month until January 2000 and then totally free from January. Since I had a lot of time on hand I spent a fair amount on the web, surfing and sending emails to friends and family and generally staying in touch with the ... ...Christmas, on several occasions all Totalise numbers were engaged. This was most frustrating and I ended up paying for calls via another ISP.
This continued until last weekend when they released their 0800 numbers to the Ultimate Surf Subscribers. The system failed and I was left with no Totalise contact at all, to make matters worse after using another ISP, there was no technical updates on their website and no replies to over a dozen emails over ...

...You need to use Totalise Telecom to dial up and fork out £235 for two years up front - but what do you get ?
Well - dial up is via Totalise Telecom and an 0845 number - they just don't charge you on the bill - access is 100 hours a month till January, then 24/7, cut off after an hour - immediate reconnection if required, timeout 5 minutes of inactivity.
As the dial up number is the standard number there is every incentive to keep it useable and ... ...- certainly got on 1st time every time so far.
You also get 1250 shares after c6 weeks - you could sell those and recoup the £235 !!
It seems to work and if you sell the shares for more than £235 you get 2 years of surfing for free !! (Good insurance if anything goes wrong).
Had a technical query I submitted by Email - reply with an hour to acknowledge and an answer in 8 hours (at the weekend). ...

Totalise has to be the friendlyest company i've ever dealt with. Run by a great enntrepreneur. The ISP service is first rate, never hear those annoying engaged tones. The company also offers shares to its users as an incentive to join and continue using the service this can be traded at any point. They have a good value, mine are already worth well over £100. Totalise has many different offers for its users. One which i particularly like is the Totalise ... ...on top of this they offer reduced rate mobile phone calls. This service saves me a lot each month. If you have any problems they have an 0800 helpline. To be quite frank this company know what there doing and ever thing that they do is with us (the customers) in mind. ...

With their shares already traded at OFEX with real value, the user effectively not only get FREE internet access, but Earn cash from it. They also has a very reliable web mail service and superb+Free technical support (This is perhaps the only 0800 technical support that I can ever ... ...rigid. Without using Totalise Telecom, one will get 1 free share/day if he/she surfed for more than 15 minuts. The time spent is non-cumulative, i.e., if you spend 30 minutes for a day, this cannot be used to contribute to the 2nd free share. Sometimes, I also experience disconnections. ...
