Advantages Advantages The children will love it

Disadvantages Disadvantages Camera angles can get confusing

This game has you taking on the role of Buzz Lightyear. Yes the same astronaught hero from the film of the same name. The aim of the game is to rescue your old mate woody from the evil clutches of the toy collector Al. All of the characters from the Toy Story film will eventually turn up somewhere in the game to set you new challenges. This is a 3-D platform game from Activision. We start off in Andy's house where kitchen cabinets make handy platforms to grab, mops are used as swings and cushions are mini trampolines. Climb cheese plants and even use zips to zoom across the room. Once you ... more

Advantages Advantages It is fun and easy for children, and it comes at quite a cheap price.

Disadvantages Disadvantages It is too easy to complete for older children and it is not very long, with only 15 levels.

My brother got this game for Christmas, about seven months ago, and I have never played on it until last week. I haven't written on Ciao for a while now either, therefore I decided that I would write an opinion on Toy Story 2, and here it is: THE GAME: As space hero Buzz Lightyear, you have your hand full. Your best buddy, Woody, has been kidnapped by a greedy toy collector and you are in an all-out race against time to save him. You have to venture through many levels, overcoming many obstacles, to try to reach him on time. It is all up to you, Buzz Lightyear, to rescue him. Here are the main ... more

Advantages Advantages Graphics, Sound, Gameplay, Well finished

Disadvantages Disadvantages May not appeal to all

Toy Story 2; Buzz Lightyear To The Rescue may not exactly appear a compulsive buy to the average gamer, but underneath the appearance of a jelly mould platform/adventure game, lies an unoriginal yet enjoyable game. You must guide Buzz around different levels, fighting evil toys, solving puzzles and exploring different environments. The levels are interesting and varied, and they follow (vaguely) the plot of the film. Ranging from Andy's House at the start of the game, to Airport Infiltration near the end, you must encounter a variety of bosses. A small selection of weapons and attacks are ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages too addictive

This game is definitely one of my favourite games of this year. Despite its kiddy cartoon animation type appearence, it really is great fun and I would recommend it to absolutely everyone. The whole adventure is an amazing idea. You sart in the house. After searching around finding things which help solve little puzzles. The idea is to collect 5 pizza planet tokens from each area. Doing this can be very difficult. Some of them are incredibly tricky to find, and then even harder to actually reach. The beauty of this game though, is that I found it nearly impossible to get annoyed with it when ... more

    Advantages Advantages Easy to understand

Disadvantages Disadvantages Needs a certain amount of dexterity

My partner and I have recently purchased Toy Story 2 for our Playstation. It is an absorbing platform game which would appeal to young and 'not so young' alike. It is easy to understand but with a good challenge if you are going to complete it. If you get stuck in certain areas it is possible to by pass that piece of information and seek something else instead. This means you get the challenge without the frustration of getting totally stuck! The game is addictive and very hard to switch off once you have started playing. We found it great fun for one of us to be operating the controls but ... more

You play as buzz lightyear, and you have to save your buddy Woody, just as in the film, going through 15 colorful levels. The graphics are good, all the characters are instantly recognisable, use of sound is also good, with some characters having their own, or a very good mimic's, voices, I just found the whole thing very confusing to play. The game is played using the 3rd Person method, where Buzz is always in the centre of the screen, and you see his back, a la Tomb Raider. And is viewed in 3D, The levels are very well designed graphically, you start off in Andy's bedroom, and then to the ... more

Advantages Advantages Just like the film and great to play

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

I originally bought this game for my girlfriend. I'd seen the film which was spot on but thought the game would be mainly for kids. How wrong could I be. I couldn't put it down much to my girlfriends annoyance. It is quite simply one of the best platform/adventure type games I have ever played. There are loads of levels which each one containing about five objectives so there is always plenty of variation. Each level is set around the film such as Andys House and Andys Neighbourhood. All the characters are there such as Mr and Mrs Potato Head, Slinky the Dog etc and all the voices are spot-on ... more

I was surprised by this game almost all games based on films are absolutely terriblebut when I first played this I discovered it was actually pretty good. It is fully 3D and you can go all over the place on each level carefully following the guidelines of other characters or you can just bomb around doing whatever you want to do. The graphics are good but the problem is it looks like a kids game but it is'nt managing to be much harder than expected only making some of the jumps after the 2oth attempt can be incredibly annoying especially if you fall off a second later due to a dodgey camera ... more

    Advantages Advantages Great Fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages Hard to control at first

I have had Toy Story 2 for a couple of months now, and the game does go to infinity and beyond. The graphics are cool and the sounds are brilliant. The game itself is great with interesting gameplay, it is a bit ahrd to control buzz at first until you get used to it, and it is hard to shoot while you are running, so you need to pay it a bit before you get used to it. The variety of the levels is not bad, but the objective of each level is more or less the same, you have to collect coins and find a part of Mr. Potato Head. The sounds are good, with actual sounds from the movie. One of the best ... more

We bought the game Toy Story 2 at about the same time that the film was released in cinemas. For someone that would not usually buy this type of game it is not good to start off with as it is difficult but quick to complete due to lack of levels. The graphics were not disappointing, but the gameplay and control of the main character Buzz Lightyear was disappointing and difficult to master. Young children who are fans of Toy Story 2 would be able to see past these flaws to enjoy the game but older families would probably not benefit from buying this game. ... more
