Advantages: great tyres Disadvantages: Hard to find
Toyo are a Japanese Tyre manufacturer that not many people have heard of. Yet to me they are the most sexy looking tyre around, if tyres can be sexy! I mean the tread pattern of course! I had toyos all around on my RS Turbo. The grip level was unreal and the depth of tread great. The tyres on my Tub were standard size 195/50/15's and a tyre that low in profile normally loses a lot of its tread in order to cater for the profile. Not the Toyo. It has ... ...and Dunlop. So Toyo make attractive and practical tyres at an affordable price. The only bad side is not many places stock them. You may need to shop around for them. Why not consider them next time? Advantages: V shaped tread means excellent road handling in the wet. Good grip, well made tyres Disadvantages: pricey
...can highly recommend the tyre to anyone. They aren’t cheap though, mine set me back £132 each. But this is the sort of brand built to last. They’re worth it, trust me. Note - there are a number of Toyo types. My review is for the Proxes T1-R ...

...anything!). Then I came across Toyo tyres, little known at the moment in this country and rediculed by some. Why rediculed? Because they were different and were not a named brand, thats why.
The Toyo is a softer compound tyre (meaning it wears more readily) however they are alot cheaper than the majority of named brands.
My Tuscan requires 255/40/18s so not the cheapest to buy for, however the cheapest I could get were just under £100 each. Trust ... ...of that size.
Once they were on the car the handling was transformed. Off the lights the grip was brilliant and I experienced what it was like to get to 60 mph very very very quickly. Corners!!!! Another thing I now love. Approach them with reasonable speed trust in the tyres and by gently accelerating at the exit you can slide the back end out nicely. With the previous tyres I would have ended up seeing where I had just been!!!
Durability - Being ...

Advantages: grippy and wear well Disadvantages: not too many stockists
...I replaced the Ecocontacts with Toyo Roadpro R610s as I had heard a few whispers that Toyo were quite good. These were as grippy as the other tyres and wore surprisingly well, the roadholding being quite good too.
I therefore went to my local stockist (found from a postcode search at Toyos UK website) and asked for the prices of the R610s in the size 195-60-15. Unfortunately they only had three tyres in, but they did have four Toyo Proxes T1s 205-60-15 ... ...can strike - again the Toyo UK website has a guide on what size tyres will fit your car.
The Proxes are much higher performance tyres than the Roadpros, and again I have heard good things about them. A deal was done. Just under £300 for four tyres, balanced, new valves, and a tracking check. If you do have new tyres fitted, make sure they use a torque wrench to tighten the wheel nuts rather than an air gun....some cars can get warped brake disks ...

Advantages: Hard wearing and good value Disadvantages: Not very good in wet.
...from my point of view toyo tyres are good for your money, but only in the dry. Wet weather driving with these tyres was like being on ice most of the time, because they are hard wearing I found them to be slippy and not much feed back from them during wet conditions. In the dry though they are great tyres got good heat into them and they did hold again feed back was not the best, but as in most cases you pay your money. These tyres are good for the ... ...ok. But if you happen to be a bit of a fast road user and go out when wet please be careful with these tyres. Now I know 99% of the people who read this will most likely not race there car or try and take a corner at high speed but only want a set of tyres that last long and are reliable, these are perfect for that, and your everyday commute or long drive to a summer break, of course all this is just my opinion and I am sure all of you will be able ...

Advantages: Reasonable price, great grip Disadvantages: None
...idependant tyre fitters reccomended me Toyo 350. They were roughly the same price as the rest of the branded tyres and decied to give them a go.
I tend to drive a lot on small country roads frequently covered in puddles, mud, leaves ect. The level of grip they offer is very good, i have noticed a positive difference in the levels of grip when breaking and cornering when the conditions are not great. This is in comparison to the Dunlop tyres i had ... ...fuel economy. After 5000 miles they seem to be in good condition with plenty of grip left.
Looking at the Toyo web site these tyres have been specifically designed for small cars and they seem to have done a fantastic job. A great overall trye for a small car ...

When I purchased two Toyo tyres for my RAV4 I was told they were excellent multi-purpose tyres. Well I beg to differ, not too bad on light off road, but too noisy on tarmac. In my experience they have poor grip in the wet and slippery conditions, kicking the ABS in early.
The tyre size I purchased was 215/70 R 16, which is only fitted to the RAV4 so I didn't have a lot of choice.
The price of £60 a wheel was indeed very reasonable including fitting ...

Advantages: Grip is second to none come sun, wind or rain Disadvantages: Do wear quite quickly
I have Toyo Proxes T1-R tyres fitted to my 16" daily driver wheels on my Ford Focus. They are simply amazing, nothing less
They are however, quite expensive tyres and do wear rather quickly, but in my opinion, as your car has a very small contact area with the road are definately worth the money.
The special directional tread on the T1-R provides excellent grip in the dry and seemingly near identical grip in the wet. There are very few tyres out ... ...grip, comfort and quiet road noise. They offer very predictable handling, even right on their limit.
I have seen cases on the older design T1-S where the tread has came apart from the tyre itself on the inner sidewall, but I have heard no cases of this occuring on the T1-R but it is only fair to mention it
For those who would prefer to stick with a more European known brand I would also reccomend the Michelin Pilot Sport or the Goodyear Eagle F1s ...
