MR2 G Limited

Advantages Good fun, stands out in the crowd

DisadvantagesVery low to the road, job to get hold of a manual

"We bought our MR2 two years ago. It was up for sale outside our local and I fell in love with the shape. To cut a long story short, we bought it for £2,000. The last owner was a mechanic so it had been well looked after. We were told that the engine was very noisy as it is a mid-engined car (believe it or not, that's what the MR stands for - mid range). However, after a couple of journeys, we didn't notice any noise whatsoever. This particular car ..." Read review

Toyota MR2 Sport coupe

AdvantagesGood looking, great fun (once in a while)

DisadvantagesNot the best handling of cars

"...so really i cant fault toyota or even the seller for this. value for money satisfactory. The road handling is very poor at the best of times i put this down to the mid engine layout, with no weight over the front wheels the car undeersteers and then will suddenly flick the back end out. so i will rate the handling poor. however if you like the car a better suspension set up may fix this for you. The MR2 is a very comfortable car with a low seating ..." Read review

MR2 a joy but it will spin in the wet

AdvantagesSports Car for the money of a hatchback

DisadvantagesYou will spin out at some point

"Plodding up and down the M1 is never fun. A round trip for me from Folkestsone to Leed was a few miles shy of 600... The car that I used for this mega trip was a bog standard Vectra 1.6. Underpowered and Sales Exec-tastic it did the job. When the need to travel this distance was no longer required neither was the Vectra. What could I buy to replace such a car... The decision was a tough one but in the end I knew the basic direction I had to go. ..." Read review

1992 Model MR2 Coupe

AdvantagesLooks great when clean. Responsive and solid when cornering. Accelerates quickly when called upon. Well designed dash. Battery power indication light, unusual but very useful feature. Engine noise, delightful purr behind the left ear.

Disadvantages2 seats, I'd like to share teh experience with more than one person at a time. Spare wheel is a temp <50mph one. Heavy on petrol.

"...quality at all. Overall the 1992 Toyota MR2 is a joy to drive. For a 2000cc engine I'm getting 200 miles on average for 30 litres of fuel. Handling and general roadholding are superb. I personally will never buy a new car again. ..." Read review

Toyota MR2 GTS Turbo Ferrari performance !

AdvantagesQuality build reasonable running costs ultra fast

DisadvantagesIts only a Toyota so poormans Image but who cares?

"Toyota MR2 GTS Turbo 1995 a pocket rocket! Japanese Import only and cheap to buy,the GTS turbo is a real flying machine, makes the standard MR2 UK car feel like its diesel powered.Mine was a 1995 model with 17" white Enkei alloys, black leather interior, wow, wow what a machine. It had the largest exhaust I have ever see on a car,Japanese Dragar racing I think. It was race tuned so Ferrari fast,no joke,it was a scarey little roller skate of a car. I ..." Read review

Goto to be a turbo

AdvantagesHeadturner, power, great handling, comfortable

DisadvantagesCan be heavy on petrol, only 2 seats, speedhumps can be tricky

"Have to say this is one of the best cars I have owned and I have owned a lot, the car handles corners like it is on rails, acceleration is great you know you can quickly get out of nearly any problems. Mine has been lowered on Koni adjustables which help with cornering but doesn't like the bumps in the road to much. Can be economical as long as the car is driven correctly otherwise you can just sit there and watch the petrol gauge slowly dissapear. ..." Read review

Toyota MR2 MK2 2.0 GT T-bar

AdvantagesLooks, performance, economy, easy to manouveur , cabin space

Disadvantagesseat adjustment, cant see bonnet if you are on the small side

"HI, my husband has just bought a MR2 for me as a present. Nothing different about that you may think, but its PURPLE!!! I love driving this car and the looks I aquire from it (might be the colour though!!! Ha) It is very easy to drive, park and generally excellent on fuel if u drive it steady and sensibly (which can be quite tricky!!) The only things I dont like is the fact that I have to drive with a cushion behind my back as the seat doesnt adjust ..." Read review

Mr2 is it for you??

AdvantagesFun Drive and sexy looks make this a real head turner for an older car

DisadvantagesHard to find good ones as boy racers choose this as a fast and the furious look

"Ok i have been an owner of an mr2 for 2 years now and i love it!!!! The car itself is comfortable and fantastic to drive considering they are getting on a bit. As long as the car is left standard the drive itself should have no problems whatsoever. The engines are bomb proof ( not actual bomb proof but you get the idea ), i have had no problems at all and it should stay that way if you continue to service it properly. The bad points to this car would ..." Read review
