My father owns this truck (2002 2WD 4 cylinder Extended Cab), but I drove it for over a year. Aside from a problem with a certain 'cable' that completely messed up the acceleration and wasted a lot of gas (though I was still able to accumulate speed gradually) nothing has gone wrong. That problem was at about 43K miles, but before that, we've only had a few minor issues. The acceleration is weak, and horrible at higher speeds, but as I said, with ... ...It did what it was supposed to do pretty well, though. We sometimes would fill it up with chopped logs for firewood and it could handle this fine. It's probably not meant to tow large things anyway, so I highly doubt it would be useful for such a purpose. If you frequently carry light loads, this is the truck for you.
One thing that does worry me is its ability to turn. I once spun out and hit an old guardrail, but it didn't feel as though this ...

I have a quad cab TRD fully loaded. Truck looks and performs great. Excellent to drive very easy to maintain. Some small issues though. The sunroof began leaking 3 months after purchase. Dealer fixed right away. Airconditioner is really loud and fan need to be fixed. Very uncomfortable seats in the back...good leg room but back rest is at 90 degrees no comfort. 1 year after purchase the 4x4 is very sticky....one occasion the truck would not shift ... ...not start...All problems dealt with quickly and properly by dealership. Good that all prices are constant now...i was 'made' to pay 2000(CDN) more for a color! TRD version should have more standard offroad items like bush bar, side steps, and toneau cover. Ford explorer(poor truck) has all these. ...
