Advantages: Great force feedback wheel. Pedals, feedback, installation, all good. Disadvantages: Pricey. Slightly flismy switch quality.
Oh yeah. The Thrustmaster Force Feedback Racing Wheel sure is a stunner. I'm not sure why I spent all of £82 of my hard-earned on it in the first place, but that didn't seem to matter. I coupled it with Midtown Madness 2 (which only just came out, I pre-ordered it for £15!) and began to enjoy pleasure. My friends say "this game wouldn't be fun without the wheel" to almost every driving game with the wheel, signifying two things: that they don't like ... ...it does.
I installed it on a Windows 98 SE system, and using the provided installation CD, used my USB port to plug in. Worked flawlessly, a little playing around in the Test Forces tab later, I was ready to go. There is also a serial option on the cable, however I have not used this. A little niggle about installation is the el cheapo transformer. I could not imagine plugging it in to a vertical wall socket at all, like all wall warts. I wish it ...

The first thing that strikes you when you install this wheel is that it is very easy to set up due to the USB connection (though if you don't have USB it also can connect through the serial port). Due to hot plugging as soon as you plug in the wheel and switch it on it detects it and asks for drivers. The set up process is quite easy so you don't need to be a computer wizz to get it to ... ...wheel features a 3lb motor which means that it will feel much more like a real car when you drive it. There is a slight 'dead zone' in the centre of the wheel where the motor is not kicking in but it is only around 5mm of the total arc so it makes very little difference. For gear change there is the option of the F1 style paddle shift gears on the side of the wheel or the rally style up/down lever. Both are excellent for their types of game. (believe ...
