A bucket for babies? Diamond review

Advantagesbaby likes it, helps if the baby has bellyache

Disadvantagesit can overturn!, lines that show how much water you need are hardly readable, its difficult to wash and hold the baby at the same time

"...to the decison that a Tummy Tub seems to be exactly what I´m looking for ;). Today I´d like to tell you about our experiences with that bathing tub that every midwife and pediatrician recommend...well, at least the producer of the Tummy Tub, DomoVital says that ;). The Tummy Tub is actually not a bathing tub but rather a bucket. Some people might find it strange to bath a baby in a bucket ;). 1. Some general information The Tummy Tub is produced ..." No Room for a Rubber Duck!

Advantagesmakes bath time easier, water stays warm for longer, babies feel safe

Disadvantagesson outgrew the Tummy Tub at 4 months old as it was too restrictive

"...Visitor told me about the Tummy Tub as she had used it to bathe her children when they were young babies. Bathing a young baby can be very fiddly and I just didn't seem to have enough hands, so I ordered the Tummy Tub from Mothercare and it cost £19.99. The Tummy Tub looks like a bucket and is a unique womb shaped clear tub, which helps your baby to relax and be calm in the familiar foetal position. As the surface area of the bath is small, the ..." Bucketload of hype

AdvantagesSmall, easy to sell

DisadvantagesSmall, expansive, difficult to hold and bath baby at the same time

"...the first time. Company behind Tummy Tub took that into account and 'invented' natural tub for bathing babies. With the first child we opted for usual equipment and occasionally had problems getting baby into the water (depending on the mood). For the second baby my wife got excited about Tummy Tub and we got it as a present from her brother. We used it quite a few times and I will try to compare it with normal plastic bath for babies by commenting ..." Read review

Shantalla baby bath heaven

AdvantagesProvides baby with all round security of the womb

Disadvantagescan tip up if your baby is very strong and able to stand.

"...magazine JoJo maman Bebe. The tummy Tub itself is shaped like a bucket, only it is rounded off to give a womb like feel. The baby is simply placed inside the bath which is less than half filled. The baby is kept afloat by the loose hands of the parent/guardian and the buyoncy of the water. The baby is completely surrounded by water which gives that secure feeling they felt for 9 months in the mothers womb. The bath Tub does come in different sizes ..." Read review

LITTLE BUDDHAS

AdvantagesToo many to mention here

Disadvantagescan be a bit pricey

"...Germany and coming across a TUMMY TUB-my instant reaction was my strong recollection of this Bucket bath I had witnessed in France. This is what a Tummy Tub really is-A glorified BUCKET...ok go ahead have a good laugh...I know i did when I first saw them. But they really are ingenious for many reasons and heres why. 1. Tummy tub brings the security of the womb back to baby who soon feels reassured and relaxed 2. Unique shape and size requires ..." Read review

BABY FRIENDLY BUCKET with plenty to recommend

AdvantagesLess Water, Lighter to carry, Baby stays warmer, Great for colic, Easy to store

DisadvantagesTakes a little getting used to, Cannot use regular baby bath toys

"...to the shape of the tummy tub hugging the babys body and baby stays warm longer for the same reason. My baby loved being immersed up to the shoulders and was less scared of being undressed and so didnt cry. When put into a regular baby bath he felt exposed and insecure. It is very useful for a colicky baby- the warm water soothes and distracts at the same time- its worth the money just for this alone. It is very portable. You can use it in any ..." Read review

Great for small or premature babies!

AdvantagesSmall base, keeps baby warm

DisadvantagesCan be pricey if bought new

"...answer is .... buy a Tummy tub! The Tummy Tub is basically a bucket with a rounded bottom. It has markings on the side that enable you to fill the tub acording to your child's weight. This enables the child to be placed in the tub and the water comes up to their shoulders. The original Tummy Tub is an opaque White, however they now come in blue and pink. It is light and easy to carry even when full as it has a lip around the edge of it. He ..." Read review

My Bhudda Baby

Advantageslight, stable, easy to use, safe

DisadvantagesPricey, hard to find

"...in law bought us a tummy tub while I was still pregnant. And it's been the best present we received! The tummy tub will cost you about £18 - £20 if you can get it online. The tummy tub is a clear, leaning towards frosted, bucket basically. It has good handles for griping it and it's very easy to carry when filled with water. It has a wide base to prevent it from tipping over and a rubbery ring on the bottom to help it grip to the surface it is ..." Read review

Tummy Tubs Great for Parents with back Problems

AdvantagesEasy to use and ideal for people with back problems !

DisadvantagesCan't actually think of any :)

"...Well this is where the tummy tub comes into it's own. You can fill it easily and sit on the floor with the tub either between your legs as you sit straight legged on the floor, or on a table, or you can kneel right up next to it .. Whatever is more comfortable for you. I found it an absolute godsend with my third baby, by which time my back was well & truely beggared ! Of course it is also particularly good for the babies too, because of the natural ..." Read review

Baby loves the Tummytub

AdvantagesBaby loves being bathed, feels secure

DisadvantagesQuite expensive if bought new

"I bought a Tummytub secondhand after hearing good reports of it. It is quite expensive to buy new, for what is essentially a glorified bucket, but I think it is worth the money. I gave my baby her first bath in hospital in a sink and she screamed the whole time. When we got her home and bathed her in the Tummytub she loved it. I think this is because she felt more secure in it, the baby is in a foetal position and doesn't get cold as they would ..." Read review

No more tears

AdvantagesBaby loves the bath, lines to guage the right amount of water

Disadvantagescan be tricky to hold baby, takes some getting used to

"...A relative had used the tummy tub for her baby and bought us one as a present, the first time we used it the baby didn't cry but fell asleep this happens frequently. The only time she crys now is when we remove her from the bath. I would recommend this product immensely, it has water guides to put the correct amount of water in depending on baby's weight so seems safer. They can be bought from several online companies BabycarePettswood.co.uk ..." Read review

A bucket just won't do!

AdvantagesDoes exactly what it says on the tin

DisadvantagesExpensive

"I bought my tummy tub after seeing it on ebay. I then researched it and thought what a lovely idea although my husband was not convinced. I decided to buy a new one because although I am a regular ebayer I figured that for hygeine reasons new was best. I then realised they were infact quite expensive to buy - mine cost £18.50 from www.kiddicare.com and P+P was free - they were the cheapest I could find. A new conventional baby bath costs around ..." Read review

Didn't work for our baby

AdvantagesCompact

DisadvantagesExpensive, restrictive

"The tummy tub is basically a see through plastic bucket that you can bathe your baby in, It is designed to be similar to the womb environment that baby is used to and therefore be calming and comforting, at the same time you can have both hands free. We bought one for our little girl and tried it out when she was 4 weeks old. We had been using a standard baby bath, but thought she may prefer being able to sit up whilst being immersed in the water. Unfortunately ..." Read review
