Like most parents, when I first bathed my son I was very nervous and worried that he would slip out of my hands as I was all fingers and thumbs. My Health Visitor told me about the Tummy Tub as she had used it to bathe her children when they were young babies. Bathing a young baby can be very...

I first came across this wonderful design when i was reading the baby magazine JoJo maman Bebe. The tummy Tub itself is shaped like a bucket, only it is rounded off to give a womb like feel. The baby is simply placed inside the bath which is less than half filled. The baby is kept afloat by the...

Too many to mention here

can be a bit pricey

One summer while camping in France, I saw something that was to influence my choice of baby bath many years later. There was a french family 'next door' to our tent, who one day plonked their 1 and a half year old daughter in a bucket of water and left her playing quite happily for a good hour...

Small, easy to sell

Small, expansive, difficult to hold and bath baby ...

It is one of the biggest fears of every new parent how to handle baby baths. Most of the people I talked to were apprehensive of getting so precious and tiny creature into the bath for the first time. Company behind Tummy Tub took that into account and 'invented' natural tub for bathing babies...

Small base, keeps baby warm

Can be pricey if bought new

I had never heard of this before until I purchased one for £2 at a local boot fair. It was the best £2 I spent in a while. I bought it when my first child was around 10 months, he was able to sit up, and was getting too big for the small baby bath we then owned. What do you do when a child cannot...

At first sight this sounds like an innovative product which comes recommended by professionals but looks like a glorified bucket- however don't dismiss it- its a baby friendly shaped bucket which has plenty to recommend it. “My Bhudda Baby”

light, stable, easy to use, safe

Pricey, hard to find

Well, my mother in law bought us a tummy tub while I was still pregnant. And it's been the best present we received! The tummy tub will cost you about £18 - £20 if you can get it online. The tummy tub is a clear, leaning towards frosted, bucket basically. It has good handles for griping it and...

“Baby loves the Tummytub”

published 08/07/2006

Baby loves being bathed, feels secure

Quite expensive if bought new

I bought a Tummytub secondhand after hearing good reports of it. It is quite expensive to buy new, for what is essentially a glorified bucket, but I think it is worth the money. I gave my baby her first bath in hospital in a sink and she screamed the whole time. When we got her home and bathed...

We bought a standard bath for our baby and she screamed every bath time from the minute she went in the bath to the minute we took her out. A relative had used the tummy tub for her baby and bought us one as a present, the first time we used it the baby didn't cry but fell asleep this happens...

Can't actually think of any :)

Imagine if you will .. a clear anatomically shaped bucket, tapering slightly from the bottom to the top, with a good grip roll handle at the top for ease of carrying, filling & emptying. If you suffer from a bad back, You will know how awkward leaning across a bath is, when washing your little...

“A bucket just won't do!”

Does exactly what it says on the tin

Expensive

I bought my tummy tub after seeing it on ebay. I then researched it and thought what a lovely idea although my husband was not convinced. I decided to buy a new one because although I am a regular ebayer I figured that for hygeine reasons new was best. I then realised they were infact quite...

“Didn't work for our baby”

published 23/07/2007

Compact

Expensive, restrictive

The tummy tub is basically a see through plastic bucket that you can bathe your baby in, It is designed to be similar to the womb environment that baby is used to and therefore be calming and comforting, at the same time you can have both hands free. We bought one for our little girl and tried it...

When I saw my friend bath her newborn and the awful screaming that lasted throughout, I was determined to find a more baby-friendly bathtub for my soon-to-arrive little one. We used our tummy tub from the time our son was born and he never cried once. It was always a really fun experience for all of us at bath time, no "purple cry"! I have recommended them to all my family and friends. It can be awkward at first and takes some getting used to. The trick is to not hold them, just two fingers under the chin and you wash them with your free hand. Exceptionally easy once you get the hang of it.
