Advantages Advantages Great plot and different Kinsella writing style

Disadvantages Disadvantages Book starts off very slow and boring, but soon picks up pace rapidly

Lara Lington is in her mid twenties and is fairly happy with her life; her life would have been perfect if her boyfriend Josh hadn’t dumped her. Lara would also be a lot happier if she wasn’t at the funeral of her Great Aunt Sadie, not that she disliked Sadie at all she well just didn’t know her and couldn’t even remember when or if she had even met her. Whilst at Great Aunt Sadie’s funeral Lara hears a voice screaming “Where’s my necklace?!” over and over again. When no one else seems to hear this young ladies voice Lara is convinced that she is going mad. That is until she sees the lady and ... more

Twenties Girl – Sophie Kinsella....... Laura Linington's life is all the place when the news breaks of her great aunt Sadie's death. Laura's boyfriend, Josh, has made, what Laura thinks to be, a massive error in breaking off their two year relationship and her new working partnership with her best friend in a head hunting business is up in the air as her best friend has met a new man on holiday in Goa and doesn't appear to be returning any time soon. So when the ghost of her dead 105 year old great aunt appears at the funeral in the form of her in the 1920's Laura immediately puts it down to ... more

    Advantages Advantages Enjoyable, great read

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

I have just finished reading this book and my first thought was that I had to write a Ciao review to tell you all what an enjoyable read it was! As I have said before I don't often read chick lit but after having enjoyed a Sophie Kinsella book before I was looking forward to reading another one and so Twenties GIrl found it's way into my bookshelves and I am very glad that it did! The beginning of this book shows us our main chracter- Lara Lington and sets out a lot of useful information which is necessary for later in the book although is done so in a subtle way that you don't feel bombarded ... more

Lara Lington is fairly happy with her life – she part-owns a (sort of) successful Recruitment business, and is determined to get ex-boyfriend Josh back. What she doesn’t count on is the ghost of her recently deceased 105 year old Great Aunt Sadie to suddenly appear in her life and shake up everything Lara thought she knew. Sadie can’t help but interfere in Lara’s life, and is determined that she won’t disappear until Lara has found one of her old pieces of jewellery. Lara decides she has to find the jewellery if she is to get rid of Sadie asap, but she doesn’t count on becoming quite fond of ... more

Another one of Sophie Kinsella's excellent reads. The scene at the beginning of the book ropes you right in and you know after the first page it is not going to be a book that you are going to put down and discard. Lara has just split up from her boyfriend and she is lead to belive by her cousin that she is an absolute failure in business. A family funeral releases a powerful gift that Lara did not know what she had or even wanted to have. However the book portray's her coming to terms with this and helps her to piece her life back together. Everything starts to become more crystal clear as ... more

Advantages Advantages Well written, fun, heart-warming

Disadvantages Disadvantages Similar to other plots in 'chic-lit' genre

This review is completely my opinion... I bought this look as soon as it came out, having read all her others and thoroughly enjoying them all. This one is no different. It is brilliantly written with characters to whom you can completely relate. It is easy to read and there are places where you will laugh out loud (well, I did at least!!). In my opinion, there is one downside and that is that this book is very similar to others in the 'chic lit' genre. Ie. Girl finds Guy, Girl and Guy fall for each other, Girl and Guy fall out over misunderstandings, Girl and Guy get back together. This meant ... more
