Advantages Advantages The most gripping books I have read in a long time

    Disadvantages Disadvantages N/A

To put it simply – I love to read. While, it hasn’t always been a favourite pastime of mine, Harry Potter changed that, they really got me more into books, and subsequently, I have read them all several times over. I then got bored of them, and didn’t know what else to go to, stuck in the belief that, I was more addicted to the series, than to reading, but I soon found other books I enjoyed, the Chris Kuzneski books, ‘No time for Goodbye’ by Linwood Barclay, ‘Say Goodbye’ by Lisa Gardner, and I even read the Dan Brown books. That was all this year, starting in January, being currently ... more

Advantages Advantages Amazing storyline with encaptulating characters!

Disadvantages Disadvantages It will grab you and keep you reading all night!

Twilight – Stephenie Meyer Introduction I had heard lots of my friends on Facebook going on about this book, Twilight. I hadn’t heard of it, but had been a sign with the word Twilight on it, advertising the film, so I assumed this was what they were all obsessed with and personally I found it quite sad that these girls, in their twenties were so obsessed with this film and the characters. I then found out that it was actually the book that they were all obsessed with, and soon realised the story was about Vampires. I hate Sci-Fi, so for months it was never something that I wanted to read. But ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages occasionally slightly lacking

I tend do things slightly backwards, which may explain why I read the Twilight saga AFTER I had watched Twilight. I thoroughly enjoyed the Twilight (and although had not read the books) thought that it captivated Edward's and Bella's love for one another beautifully. As I said this was before the books... There are FOUR books in the Twilight Saga, them being ; Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Twilight is the first in the Saga and is the first book that has captivated millions of us and turned us into, what we like to be called, TwiHards! The books storyline is very basic, a boy ... more

5 Stars A new generation of vampires Review with images 13/04/2010
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages beautiful story, intense, touching, suitable for almost all ages, entertaining, nice characters

Disadvantages Disadvantages it's aimed at teenagers which might make some people not want to read it

A new generation of Vampires Before I actually read "Twilight", I was really fighting it of. I noticed how people around me were becoming crazy about it and how there were rows and rows of shelfs filled with merchandise in every shop. The "South Park" episode suggesting some kids are actually becoming goths in the new vampire-craze is not as far-fetched as it may seem - some of my "senior goth" friends really loathe those kids. Although I don't mind newcomers in the goth scene (because everybody finds their way in in some way!) as much as others, I was highly suspicious of the "Twilight" craze ... more

Advantages Advantages Beautifully written and crafted novel, amazing characters, will stay with you a long time after reading

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Un-putdownable!

I first heard of Twilight last summer, but thought nothing of it. Over the following couple of months, I kept hearing it mentioned on various forums and websites, and so my curiosity was piqued. But did I really want to read a stereotypical vampire love story? Well, the answer was yes. The genre is one that I have never really explored before, andso I was intrigued not only by the summary, but by the reviews I'd read of the book. **Blurb** "About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him - and I didn't know how dominant that part might ... more

Advantages Advantages easy to read; no complicated plot twists

Disadvantages Disadvantages lack of plot; two dimensional characters

Several years ago I read and loved Anne Rice’s ‘Interview with a Vampire’: it was sensuous, enthralling and transported me through time and place. Some years before that I had read and quite enjoyed a series of books whose titles I can’t even remember which dealt with vampires in love with young girls. They’re still in the loft somewhere because they made an impression on me and I thought I’d quite like to read them again one day. Why am I mentioning these other books? Because sadly, albeit perhaps unsurprisingly, ‘Twilight’ failed dismally to live up to the hype surrounding it. Billed as ‘the ... more

Advantages Advantages One of the best books in the world

    Disadvantages Disadvantages NONE

I personally decided to read this book thanks to looking at a poster in a cinema called "AMC" about 2-3 months ago. This poster had Edward Cullen on the front, with the writing "See EDWARD CULLEN in Twilight" underneath. Then right next to that poster was one exactly the same apart from the picture being of Bella Swan and the writing changed to fit her name, of course. This really did intrigue me and made me want to find as much as possible about this film, but I had forgotten about the poster, until I went there again, and this time I was with other friends who knew mostly what the poster was ... more

Advantages Advantages A beautifully told love story

Disadvantages Disadvantages It ends! Thank god it's just the start of the saga

Twilight is the first novel in the bestselling saga by Stephenie Meyer. It tells the story of Bella Swan, who moves to the small town of Forks, where she soon finds that some of the towns residents aren't entirely human, and she falls in love with a vampire, Edward Cullen. Twilight is essentially a love story, with added doses of nail biting action. The story is told in the first person from Bella's perspective. The characters are all well crafted, and Meyer's storytelling is superb - she really has a knack for drawing the reader in and making you want to be a part of the story. The Twilight ... more

Advantages Advantages Romantic, Exciting, Clever, Characterisation

Disadvantages Disadvantages Maybe A Bad Message, Sometimes Too Detailed

Bella has moved to Forks and she isn't happy about it; she has moved from a sunny life in Arizona with her dippy mother to the rainy, dark lifestyle of her awkward sheriff father. She is instantly accepted in her new school, with many of the boys falling over her every word (despite her view that she is exceptionally ordinary and clumsy) but doesn't feel as if she fits in. That is until she sees the handsome Edward Cullen, an almost supernaturally (hint, hint) beautiful and graceful member of the student body whose articulate manner and intellect sets him apart. But when she tries to ... more

This is a book that has created frenzy for vampire love stories and sparked a thirst for reading in a worldwide audience- regardless of age or gender. I would say that I love Twilight because of the charms that are captivated within the words of the book. I have to say that there are a lot of similarities between a couple of already existing books and this one, but the dialogue remains truly refreshing and unique in its own charm. While there have been quite a lot of vampire stories written that are quite similar to the storyline of Twilight, I have to say that this one holds this “certain ... more
